  1. BlazBlue is BlazBlue, Guilty Gear is GUILTY GEAR. Mock all you want guys, I'm still callin' it. There will be a another new character after Elphelt for GGXrd, bet on it. Mark my words.
  2. Better get out the torches and pitchforks, bro. It's going to be a while. But seriously: Sin Kiske (technically he's a returner) Bedman Elphelt (Valentine?) Ramlethal Valentine ????? There's probably one more person they'll add in keeping with GG 'new character' traditions (since they usually add 4 new characters with each new Guilty Gear). GGX it was: Johnny Jam Anji Venom Dizzy (was revealed later actually, since technically she was a hidden character along with Testament) GGXX it was: Slayer I-No Bridget Zappa Accent Core is kindof a spinoff of other GGXX games but: A.B.A. Order-Sol Justice (reinstated) Kliff (reinstated) And if anyone doesn't believe me, or doubts this prediction. I want your money from a bet I'll win.
  3. Annnnd I was right about El being Sin's nickname for Elphelt / Elfelt / Elfert / whatever. Also Noel is probably closer to her concept as far as ARCSys characters go. TAKE THAT you people who love to correct me all the time...
  4. Was he around for Missing Link? Was there a competitive scene for the first GG back then?
  5. If you're referring to Soul Calibur V mods, I'll do you one better. (If you're still confused PM me). If you're referring to APCSGIV, here's his Youtube Page but he never replies to English, so I suggest checking out his blog if he has one, in Nico channels he goes by VIGSCPA. If you're referring to GGXXACPlus PSP "cheat codes", PM me and I'll give you my cheat.db to mess around with.
  6. Even with a program like M.u.g.e.n. just 'loading only the character specific files' can take a while (depending on the size of the roster aka index of files), the program has to "think" and search for the right files in its index and depending on how big that index is, it would have to load that much longer. Some games just access a "track" of audio samples and call up the specific "passages" of a track. That's how Accent Core plays its music, since it's a compressed pck file, which is actually just one really long raw wave file. Compared to an index, telling a program to play a specific "section" of a single track is probably much faster.
  7. I'm sure it would be nice to cherry pick JP and English voices from the cast, like UMvC3 does... but keep in mind how much of an increase in file size and compression that probably takes up, whereas having all the English and Japanese on their own separate audio tracks neatly compressed is probably more economical.
  8. I don't think it matters, so long as you have an interface for Joysticks and pads so people can bring their own.
  9. The argument against Mods would only be valid if it pertained to impacting normal gameplay such as console or online play or competitive tournaments on a consistent basis. For example, Soul Calibur V character mods via a Hex Edit. Namco never fixed that part of their save files, so people found a back door. I've tinkered with it myself but to my knowledge the worst you could do with it is disguise a character with another character's fighting style (ala Mokujin/Edge Master) or make them ugly as heck. Since character creation is frowned upon already in that game (due to clothing hiding hitboxes and such), I don't think people would care so much about the actual mod other than Namco having to fix the exploit (which again, they still haven't). I don't think that will be a problem with Guilty Gear because: 1. Rules (aka dipswitches) with special modes like Gold Mode or EX Mode are deeply integrated in to the game. So it's easy to ban them in-game based on how you set up a Lobby Room online for example. Even stuff like the Extra Menu in Accent Core Plus R automatically "resets to default rules" if you pick a competitive mode that isn't Versus or Training, so it's like a failsafe. 2. Alternate costumes haven't even been determined yet so I doubt we'll see much in the way of that for a while (though they might still get palette problems like early versions of BlazBlue Continuum Shift did, that's to be expected with each patch fix). I'll wait and see if guys like APCGIV (aka Asian guy who does those mod videos of GG and BB) try to mod GGXrd on PC, if they do it's just for fun, nothing serious like EVER... and they never explain how it's done either so... we might never know. On that note, the worst "Guilty Gear Exploits" I have ever seen was in the first Guilty Gear with Gameshark codes that basically made all your hitboxes uber huge so you could hit enemies anywhere on screen (though I don't think Popstation could replicate those codes lol) . That and the super-cancel/every hit is an IK state/flawless guard codes on the PSP version of Accent Core Plus (which needs a modded PSP to be used and sometimes crashes anyway).
  10. Cancels. Cancels everywhere... Interesting to know how they couldn't add GGXX characters onwards in to GG2 due to the Licence... But that doesn't explain why they tried to hide Dizzy so much...
  11. It's a sad day for me, my friends (can I call you friends? I will anyway) My oldest rival has abandoned Guilty Gear (and fighting games in general) in favor of Sand-Box Survival games.... I don't even know what to say, except, I need a new rival!
  12. The fact that YRCs are so friggan open ended is scary actually. You have any idea what would happen if you could cancel anything... in to anything...?
  13. In context he just calls her "El". BUT, it can be assumed to be her nickname for now, until we find out if it IS her name or not. Just because one character calls another character a certain name doesn't mean it's really their name. And Sin tends to give other characters nicknames. He calls Sol "Old Man", his father "Ky" (totally rude and informal), among other things.
  14. @Lipstick Sol... no just no (and GGXrd art is okay, you just like complaining BH). It's just an OST poster girl like all the other CD covers Daisuke has done for GG. GG2 Album Cover 2 has one that "looks like Valentine" but isn't. @Bunny Girl: She's nicknamed "El" by Sin. You'll just have to wait for her full name (newbies... sheesh).
  15. I'd pre-order except I don't have a PS4 and they don't have an L.E. for PS3 (yet! YET! I'm hoping they'll plan one!)
  16. Just ignore Clousephinat, he hates things in general. (I kid, I kid, but don't take opinions seriously). I take it nobody has more tracklists from GGXrd's OST yet... Also, any idea what this "vocal collection" CD is? Is it the soundtest we're not getting?
  17. Based on the earlier arcade cutscenes we've seen so far it's going to be a lot like anime, but for the interactive story segments, we might see stuff akin to either GG2 Overture story segments or Naruto/Dragonball Z story animations (standing talking heads with camera panning around, kinda like how Dissidia did it).
  18. Fortunately there's a guide on how to get Yen (and a JPSN account) on this very forum!
  19. We have CD covers, but do we have the tracklisting!?!? @Fenrir: if you got 600 yen and a Japanese PSN account, GGTML is easy to get a copy of, you can party like it's 1998.
  20. I have been playing GG since 1998, so if you left now or even in 10 years, that's one less person to complain about GG or BB.
  21. @Kyosuke: El is the new face in GGXrd we've seen in recent famitsu scans. Ask Kurushii for a look at them. @LeonD: Don't ever answer GG questions ever again.
  22. I'm sure Bedman will get more interesting as the story progresses. First impressions aren't everything. Though I do agree that Capcom games get Waaaaayyy too much press for their quality (which they don't deserve).
  23. Regarding the difference between making a character and making DLC, it probably takes longer for both than they hint at it, because of the visuals and artistic touches they want to put in everyone. They're not going to pull a Capcom on us, they're too smart for that (they'll at least be honest about what is DLC with full disclosure). The way I see it, this is just the GG roster for Xrd... we'll see the GGX cast a while later, then Isuka/Slash/GG2 casts later on. Chances are they want to showcase the new blood before the old standbys return, so that's a consideration for matchups too. Personally I hate to think in terms of competitive game-life, but once things start slowing down and people invest less interest competitively in this first run they'll probably add more to the game to spice things up and keep people chucking quarters (or should I say swiping IME cards?). As for Costumes and such... I already said my wishlist a while ago but here: --GG2 Crimson Jacket Sol / Scientist Frederick with a giant Cigarette --GG2 King Ky --May in that "Western Pirate" outfit (from the 2007 artbook) --Chipp's "Butterfly and Her Gale" outfit --Classic Millia (from GG1 or GGX, optional hood) --Zato in his ballroom courtier outfit (from Night of Knives) --Slayer's Military Outfit (from VastEdge) --Venom's White Business Suit (from his GGX ending) --Bedman in Pajamas (or a racing suit with the bed made to look like a race car). --Faust with an Afro / Disco Suit. --Classic GG Potemkin (or his black ops outfit from GGX artwork) --"hot pants" I-No (from GGXX art) or the "phone booth" outfit from one of the CDs --GGX Axl (or Axl in his jean shirt/pands with a guitar on his back with no head wrap) --Ramlethal in her new MAID outfit (gosh that will look cute) --El in GG2 Valentine outfit (why not? they look similar) --Sin in his "teenage shorts" outfit with slightly longer hair.
  24. Gaiden doesn't mean its' "non-canon". It just means that some parts of it may be canon and some may not, the events with Raymond who became Judgment still likely happened... just not in any organized order that we know of except in terms of "who came to the island first", the facts he gives about individual characters are canonical to the characters themselves, but that may not necessarily apply to their current stories... just facts about them and their pasts. I-No will still be I-No regardless of who she resembles to fans, her story will be her own. Axl's story is hard to narrow down because he's been all over the place so it's hard to say what's "canonical" with him specifically. I do know that the only "canonical" aspect about him is that he hasn't met "That Man" yet like he said he was going to do back in GGX. They kind of rewound his story a bit in each game, so now he has two reasons to meet him. It's been established that he's met Kliff Undersn several times though during the time skips (originally met him in GGX, but the story is retold in AC+). Axl has met himself twice, the first time in GGXX his "future self" encourages him (did this happen? We don't know but it didn't NOT happen as nothing has denied that it didn't so far), and then in AC+ his "future self" comes in again to the past and helps him move to another point in time (did this happen? Well he says Order-Sol didn't have enough power to send him somewhere else like he'd hoped so "Future Axl" was a godsend... so likely this did happen, but we just don't know where Axl went after that). Axl was also confirmed to have met "Past Justice" and "2180 Justice" not to mention the "Justice Copy" that forced him to time slip later on. His story is convoluted, but eventually we might be able to piece it together someday, but a simpler way to look at it would be that so long as Axl is able to "move in to another time" his story continues (sometimes going back to earlier games)... it wasn't until GGXrd that he lost his ability to time travel, which is a significant "stop point" for his plot. As far as accusing Ky of being a lolicon, that's a line of biased assumption. Gears aren't human so you can't judge them by human standards. Even Half Gears and Quarter Gears are no exception. He just crossed a line by consummating with a Gear, that's all he did. That's like saying someone built a robot the other day and you want to make robot babies with it even though it's 1 day old... age has nothing to do with functionality or maturity. It's just a cultural moral standard that was pressed in to Law, and not all cultures adhere to it (read the Guinness Book of World Records for the youngest child birth if you don't believe me). As for what I said earlier... Arakune knows things and says things that don't make sense at first, but as you learn more about the nature of the story within the game, certain things begin to click, such as when he says "You don't understand, we're all being watched!" (which is later revealed to be because of Takamagahara). That's why I say he's like Bedman and speaks in riddles, we won't know what Bedman is really talking about until we know more of the story.
  25. Speaking of that, any info on what we'll get for L.E. on PS3 (if any)? To me GG was always broken, always had issues. I embraced the chaos and continue to learn despite the problems and hiccups it gets, it's certainly a far cry better than any of the mistakes Street Fighter and Marvel games are known for if you ask me, UMvC3 is the only fighting game I've *ever* thrown my controller in despair towards. At least with GG I can feel like I can own up to my own mistakes, no matter how many gimmicks are in the system, just means there's a lot to learn to me. Speaking of fixing mistakes, here's my wishlist for Training Mode: ---Guard Reaction Recording Basically the A.I. blocks something and then does something after blocking. It could be a DP, a BlitzShield, a Dead Angle, anything. Just to keep players on their toes during guard strings after IBs. You just record whatever it is you want the dummy to do, then have them do it after blocking/IB/ or BlitzShield. ----Wakeup Reaction For reversal training so you can do proper Okizeme people have to respect. ---Danger Time Position situation neutral setups Air to Ground / Ground to Air / Air to Air after a clash (and also options to reset the situation midscreen or in the corners)
