  1. Well, everyone always talked about it like Lambda was never gonna win a match against Haku again. :P I don't know if our matches are representative since it was early on into the game and with more matchup experience it would probably be different. I never really advanced past that though since the netcode is so terrible. But yeah, from personal experience, I agree. Yeah, I know, but that's too slow to do on reaction. You have to do it on prediction. If the Hazama is any good, he knows you're looking to cut his chains, and he's not just going to just throw them at me to make them easy to cut. If I predict wrong and whiff the j.2A, THEN he can throw the snake and CH me, and if I end up doing nothing he can throw it out and have me block it, etc. That's just from my experience though, and you can still cut it now and then. But it doesn't really define the match or anything.
  2. I heard you were raging from online today. :v: Too bad we didn't get to play this weekend, I wanted to but I ended up getting swept up into Labor Day festivities with friends and family I hadn't seen in a while. I got to play offline CS too, and it was... fun... which is weird since my appetite for the game pretty much dried up. So it might just be the netcode after all and not the game. I've just been doing reckless balls-to-the-wall-rushown Hakumen to keep myself entertained. :eng101: I'll be in the area again every so often, so there's still a chance we can get games in.

  3. I miss playing with you :( But I don't miss playing online :(

  4. Gimmicks have their place.

  5. Haha, no problem, I was just wondering what you've been up to. I haven't really played in forever :P The lag is one problem, but the game just doesn't appeal to me as much. I still play, but I haven't really been trying to get better, I just goof around or try to scrub by on my CT skills. Although... I have fun when I play offline with my brother, so maybe it is all because of the netcode.

  6. This chart seems good to me. Hazama's been getting better and better, and I haven't felt like he's had that big a weakness against Haku when I play against Haz. Sure, I can supposedly cut the chains, but you pretty much have to predict it, he can throw them out all he wants, half the C moves are too slow or have just don't cover enough range (j.C) to matter when it comes to cutting, and if you miss you're screwed. I feel like he can zone Haku pretty well, he can get a life lead and run run run. It depends on how good the Hazama is though. If he can't keep you out then it ends pretty quick. On that note, just speaking from personal experience, I don't think the Haku Lambda matchup is as bad for Lambda as it originally appeared. (I kind of got that impression just from watching match vids before CS came out too so it fits.) She can still zone him pretty well. If the Lambda player has gotten comfortable with all of her tools, then I have a hell of a hard time getting in. (Although the number of players who can actually effectively use her like that can counted on one hand instead of anyone who picked up Nu for a few minutes and could hit buttons.) But again I'm sure there's more to the story with Lambda having so many nerfs. I never thought Ragna was that big a deal. You just need matchup experience. If the Ragna player brings in RC shenanigans then it changes things a bit but that's still something you can learn and be ready for.
  7. Hey Andy! I wanted to message you on Facebook but I forgot to add you and now I can't find the GameFAQs thread you gave yours to me :P PM it to me! Me and Arcade and LK are still up for getting together this Sunday. We were wondering if you're going to be around or if you're gonna be at that NYC tournament?

  8. Hey Leonil. I'm at work for most of the day. :v:

  9. I just watched that Ventrilo thing on your YouTube. It was great. :P

  10. I kept trying to bait you into DPing but you weren't buying it. :P Did Litchi get new moves in CS? I saw some new stuff that I wasn't familiar with, but it's been so long since I fought Litchi that I don't remember anymore. There was this one move where she'd twirl around her staff and it seemed like an overhead, but I'm not sure.

  11. Hey, good games earlier. I haven't fought a Litchi since like a year ago. I hear you've been playing with my brother.

  12. Well, take Ragna for instance. You have 5B > 5C > 214A > 214D as a basic one. But you could get more damage out of that by doing 5B > 2B > 5C > 2C > 214A > 214D, instead. You're right, a lot of the more advanced combos have parts that you can't break apart, but focus on the basics first. Just take it one step at a time. You don't need more advanced combos until you fight better opponents anyway. As for players... well, there's IRL friends, there's people on PSN and XBL, and folks on Dustloop. There's places where people gather offline to play too, but those are few and far between, so you'd have to be lucky to live near such a place. Go to the matchfinder forum here to see if there's anything nearby. Playing with your personal friends is fine too. Right now you just need people to play against so you can get comfortable implementing what you're learning.
  13. Oh, in that case. First, get your execution down. You still need training mode to do your basic moves. Learn those basic combos and use them in your matches with your friends. You don't NEED to learn the super complicated combos yet. You learn them as you go. Eventually the basic combos will be second nature, and all you'll have to do is add a few moves here or there to them to learn the more advanced combos, so it'll be easier, and by then you should be more comfortable with the ins and outs of the game. Having someone else to play with is good since you can both get better together.
  14. Yeah, you say you don't want to do training mode, but you need to. Also 2 weeks is barely any time at all to get good at a character. Give it 3 months. Also it's perfectly normal to struggle with combos, etc. Just takes practice. For Haku's falling C combo I wasn't able to do it until six or seven months after I got the game. Everyone starts where you are, so don't think you're bad or that everyone else just magically picks up the game and does everything easily. I come from SF2 as well; there's actually quite a few similarities, you just have to see them since they are presented differently. The separate moves of the characters still matter and you still need to understand them. It's just that in this game after you land that one move you can get more damage out of it since it goes into a combo once you hit. Playing with others is a good way to get better and get experience while having fun.
  15. Well, it actually doesn't come quickly. It takes a lot of work; it's like learning an instrument. But after a while you break through a point where it all becomes natural and you can do things without thinking about them. I'd say first and foremost, pick one character. The characters are all so different you can't really learn them all at once. You have to focus on one. Then learn their moves, and actually remember them so you know when to use what. Also go into training mode and practice doing their special moves until you can do them consistently. When I tried to learn new moves or combos I'd try to do them like 10 times in a row. If I couldn't do it almost 10 times then that means I didn't have it down yet. Also you have to be deliberate in your actions. Don't panic and just mash buttons. Think through what you want to do clearly and take your time. It's OK if you mess up the first few times because of it as eventually you'll be able to nail the moves you need to when you're thinking clearly. The #1 thing you need is perseverance. Since you're a beginner, I suggest picking up Ragna. He's the most "normal" character. When you feel comfortable doing his moves, move onto some basic combos. Oh, and to do that you have to learn the combo notation people use online.
  16. Do you have time for a fully charged 6C Fatal?
  17. Aw, that sucks. I hate it when that happens. Good info though.
  18. Nope.
  19. I saw you on last night. We should play sometime. I haven't really been on.

  20. If I'm reading his combo correctly, it's not j.2A > IAD j.2A, but just two j.2As in a row.
  21. I am entertained. :P You beat me to some of my points. Also he just ignored what you said lool
