but it isn't, st1ckbug and co came up with opinions for each of the matchups....

stay free :3

And how, pray tell, did they come up with those matchups? By guessing? Or by evaluating the weaknesses and strengths of each character and giving each matchup the most likely odds based on two players of equal skill?

I seriously don't get it, everyone wants Japanese insight until it's actually there, then it's discredited as a foreign thought.

Who knew

Because... we've never heard of it? :psyduck:

I've been lurking DL and SRK and a ton of FG sites since early 2008 before joining in late '08/early '09, and I have never heard of mirrors being anything other than 5-5.

Then Jiyuna comes in and says we should all accept it as fact because JP says so. Come on, we all respect the JP for their abilities, but we do have our own standards of play here.

sophisticat don't start that discussion, dustloop would just boil down to failloop.

I hate failloop.

@ huey: bang forums is very gdlk, almost jersey tier.

HEY GUESS WHAT, thats not using statistics to find a matchup chart.

its like you answered your own question for me.

Using Statistics would be compliling dozens of tourney results and determining how each character does (I BELIEVE).

why is everybody salty about tetsu being awesome?

why does skye have a gameplay badge.

what the fuck.

I find a new quote every 5 posts in here.

Over the years, I've learned to never take anything Jiyuna says seriously. Ever. Hopefully Dustloop will follow my example and shut up.

'k. Now that this has been established, I'll be shutting up.

Odds, boi. Odds. Just like how a coin flip is 50/50 but in real life isn't necessarily so.

Stay Bang.

Except for that fact that it is. :8/:

Fun fact, no match up chart has ever been based on statistics. Doing so would mean you would have to determine the alpha player for ever character of a game, and then have them play out the set of 10 (100 if you want the .5 differences) matches against the alpha of every other character. Nobody has that kind of time, so it every chart ever, has been made by speculation of the game's top players.

This is a good point, he is almost always trolling. However, in this case, he posted LEGIT INFORMATION, because he knew this thread couldn't handle it. He's trolling with truth.

Truly, wrldchmp.

AXIS: yeah the threads are very well organized, and we have our own social thread for shenanigans :) its awesome

okay there is a reason to be salty, but hey, he was getting messed up again, and then brought it back:psyduck:

Opinions aren't statistics. The opinions expressed by the chart are 100% correct though.

The chart will be updated with: new mirror match numbers, numbers that make everyone happy, and a 3rd dimension that changes the match-up depending on how well you speak Japanese.

So moral of the story is, don't make matchup charts but make tier lists based on YOUR FEEEEELINGS *insert One Piece theme here*

Show's over, everyone go home, leave this place to die in peace.

Don't forget the EC/WC columns, and the Blade Unlimited Character matchups.

you are terminally ill. sad to say it is hard to cure the disease of being born without a functioning ability to comprehend reason or critically think. well there is one cure, it's called your 5th birthday.

isn't there a TOS for this forum that makes it so anyone under the age of 13 can't post? might wanna enforce that.

I'm pretty sure the definition of a matchup chart implies that it was built around educated opinions.

I mean, just because someone can wipe the floor with everyone else using a shitty character doesn't mean that character is any good.

That's technically one of the possibilities you get from making a chart based on stats.

Question. Do skill ranges still widely vary at high-level play in the states?

Disclaimer: I'm not really claiming to be any good at the game, but as far as I can tell, this is what logically might happen if you based tiers on statistics. Not likely on a large scale, but over here, I don't think we have that privilege.

yes.

if you aren't from nyc/nj or named zong (who is basically ec) you don't have a valid opinion. truth.

YES, quite a bit.

EDIT: oh you said high-level play, that doesn't exist in the US. :3
