It was a secret. Nu's soul is within Ragna now so I have to use him.

Yeah I had some good matches with his Ragna

You should feel special. You were the first (and currently only) person on netplay to see my Extend Ragna.

Man, I used to hate the noise that all those combos made when you'd land a hit, but I'm used to it now. It's satisfying hearing those 6Bs landing.

6B is now un-blockable? Ragna had to wake-up ID in order to escape the pressure.

Damn.

Nah, look at those red exclamation marks. That Ragna was just blocking as badly as you do. Unblockables don't have exclamation marks, they have a red "guard crush" aura instead. This is just like the time you didn't believe me when I said Valky's 5C was air-unblockable. It's all in the exclamation marks.

No. Valkenhayn's 5C has always been air-unblockable. Stop pretending like you know anything about BlazBlue's system mechanics and let me explain.

Red has always naturally been a color that resembles extreme danger. For example "Don't press that red button!" or "Don't fall into that red scorching lava!" or "There is a stop sign ahead, stop your car!".

In this case, the red exclamation mark translates to "Get the fuck out of the way, Hakumen is using his un-blockable 6B!"

You can't high block a red button, scorching lava, or a stop sign. So obviously, you can't high block Hakumen's 6B. It's basic mathematics, really.

I know you're mocking me, but just for those who didn't know:

Red exclamation means overhead.

Yellow means low.

Blue means air unblockable.

Green means throw.

Pink means throw during blockstun.

What's the timing for a true meaty again on oki?

Suppose you just did a corner combo and could end it with j.C > 5C, or with a 3C at the end. Would just doing 2B be enough? I normally do j.C > 5C and then use 6A as my oki tool and it deals with pretty much everything, but I am just wondering what I would need to do if I wanted to land a meaty perfectly on their wakeup.

Posted

jC > 5C > 3C > Hop Tsubaki is meaty if they neutral tech

Everything else is pretty easy to eyeball. Usually I use 6A option select though, 6A whiff > 2A can be a meaty assuming the 6A OS is timed correctly.

Lately I've been doing 6A > 2B for oki and people just get up and jump out *cough*skeletal minion*cough*. Is my timing off lately thanks to lag or something, or does that just not work for catching jump outs on wakeups?

Posted (edited)

Try doing the 6A a hair earlier or substitute 5A or maybe 2A for 2B (I especially like 5A though since if they jump, you'll probably air unblockable them > 6A > wallstick loop for some free damage and meter). If you do the 6A too early, they can forward roll through you though, so be careful.

Edit: the timing may also vary if you land the last 5C when they're too close to the ground, since they can recover/tech sooner. It's similar to how air hit 5C > 5C/2C combos work, the higher they are when you hit them, the longer it will take for them to get slammed to the ground, meaning you have a few more frames to do stuff.

What goes through your mind when we do mirrors, Skeletal? What do you tend to look for?

I would've asked on your wall but I'm not sure if you ever check it. :P Learning about mirrors is good for everyone anyway.

Speaking of that, I noticed that another thing whiffs against you in our mirrors: Normally I'll do 6B, and then follow up with 2B to pick them up if they're not teching. This works against everyone, but somehow it would whiff pretty often against your Hakumen (even though you weren't teching) and then I'd get punished by you getting up unharmed and hitting me out of the recovery. It's just strange.

And I don't mean whiff, as in you would tech through it. You'd just be sitting on the ground, and the 2B would just not hit you somehow.

Random Q: how do you guys feel about EX Haku now that CP's coming?

Honestly, with this guy, the only character I hate going against is Tager. Anyone else is fine because we have the tools to deal with stuff. I'm not sure he even has one bad matchup except maybe Arakune, but fuck that guy.

Combo-wise, not enough choice between corner carry and dmg, imo. Midscreen you'll get 3k on average, 4k+ if you land 5c. Corner is fine, but I would honestly have preferred more burst damage the more stars used. As it is, 3 stars gives you everything. I'm mixed about IAD j.B -> j.A becoming a staple combo. What was cool about CS2 Haks was that this was a much more difficult combo to land, so it was more exotic. Now the novelty has more or less worn off.

Despite this, EX Hak is probably the version I'm most comfortable using because of his sheer versatility and top-tierness. Overall his best incarnation without any doubt. At least until CP where he's even more over the top.

I wish I played prior incarnations so I'd have something to compare him too, but for the most part EX Hakumen is alright. Midscreen damage is ok considering you don't many stars for it. Corner damage is magnificent. Very rewarding.

And it's going to be glorious to crush even more hopes and dreams when CP drops :P
