tastylumpia Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Players use OS tech vs Jin because between 6B and throw reject miss, Jin has way too many ways to fuck with your reactions. Even though I agree that it's better to be thrown than get hit with CH 6B starter, proper use of 6B/throw/throw reject miss leaves Jin at worst at +4 with them still blocking, at best, them getting thrown. I can attest to this, I've seen good players made to look dumb with repeated purple throws/reject misses to the point where they just mash OS tech. The mixup is gimmicky, but it works.
Dacidbro Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 That's actually not the worst case scenario. The worst case scenario is you got punched in the face, combo'd to oki.
rei-Scarred Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 It's funny reading all this shit for a game whose total lifespan is barely over a year with most people just now realizing how good Tao is, coming from a MvC2 background where year 1-2 tier lists had shit like S tier Doctor Doom. In that game all kinds of nonsense that was considered broken or inescapable eventually became obsolete from the discovery of other broken nonsense. Just makes you wonder about if a game like CS1 (or even SSF4) were given a bit longer to develop shifts in the metagame before the mighty hands of the balance patch "fixed" stuff that was perceived too good/bad (assuming the game has the depth to support this exploration). Doesn't really matter much either way, we're speaking in the context of a country that collectively can barely IB/react to overheads/tech throws/perform rudimentary defensive maneuvers. It obviously takes more time for the metagame to change between a slow game with 15 characters and a fast game with 50 characters that you use 3 of at a time...
Agent P Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) It obviously takes more time for the metagame to change between a slow game with 15 characters and a fast game with 50 characters that you use 3 of at a time... So true indeed. Thats why CS1 Tiers are almost settled now, it would requiere of something really great to change them, so another year probably would not make a big difference. Again, Spirit's list is ok,at least for me. The same can be said for CSII, tiers looks almost settled there too because we only have platinum as a new character and about the others we already know how to use them so it was only about adapting to their new buffs, nerfs and finding new BnB, I know that is still too soon, but I dont think well see more big jumps like Hazama. What is funny is to see how so many people pretend that the BB games are balanced. Each revision gets more closer to what we call balance but they are still not balanced in any way. Today many claim that CSII in balanced but in December 2011 we'll see them criticizing the issues that we already see in CSII and defending the balance of the new BB revision despite the issues that will surely have and so the cycle will repeat again. It happened to CT, it happened to CS release and its going to happen to CSII, but until december. Now thats funny. Edited January 26, 2011 by Agent P
CakeWasBannedd Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 bb will never be balanced, go play AH3
Dacidbro Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 No fighting game is balanced. CS2 is a big step in the right direction.
Soriphen Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 soo all along it was RIP tager....psssht makes me even cooler for playing him.
PSOInvictus Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Make a Tier List from Tager's perspective. Be more entertaining at this point.
Nini Heart Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Tager Tier list: SSSS Tier: Mu 12, Hazama SSS Tier: Litchi, Lambda, Arakune SS Tier: Tao, Bang S Tier: Valkenhayn,Carl A Tier: Makoto, Jin, Ragna D Tier: Rachel, Tager F Tier: Tsubaki Z Tier: Noel Sounds about right?
tastylumpia Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 No fighting game is balanced. CS2 is a big step in the right direction. Street Fighter 1: B Tier: Ryu, Ken Joking aside, I heard AH3 is really balanced (many people saying just a two tier character list?) I'm just not a fan of the whole nerfing the current top tier and buffing low tier, creating a new top tier thing. Do all the players really benefit, or just the ones who happen to be playing a character that's much better in the newer version?
huey253 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 for some reason i don't think bbcs1 will be unimportant in a couple months...
Spirit Juice Posted January 26, 2011 Author Posted January 26, 2011 We'll find out at about 6:30 PM PST.
Lord Knight Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 It'd be a damn interesting read. I'd like to see it I'll post it in the other thread.
FlyingVe Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) Sounds about right? Nope: Tager hate list: Put down controller tier: Mu, Valk, Hazama, Lambda, Carl, Arakune Probably put down controller tier: Tao, Bang, Litchi, Makoto, Hakumen. Might as well hold the controller tier: Jin, Ragna Hurray it's worth trying tier: Tsubaki, Noel Rachel tier: Rachel This list was composed with lots of salt so take a grain when you read it. If you disagree I don't care. Tager hate aside, what's going on at 6:30? Also, I would also, want to read LK's opinion on character strengths. Perfect balance is impossible, and would probably be boring, all I think we can ask for is that every character have a reasonable chance to win in most matchups. Edit: Forgot Haku. FlyingVe Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 i notice for both of those "tager fml tier list" you forgot hakumen. where would he be? Fixed now. The EVO 2011 Line-up will be announced at 6:30 PM PST today. Okay then. Thanks.
PSOInvictus Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Even Hakan Tier is better than Tager tier
LunaKage Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Strange, I didn't think Japan played anymore Noel, or Rachel. Must have just been theory fighting.
Nini Heart Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 I really wonder where Makoto and Valk and Mu would fall though.
TheDarkWall Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 (edited) Gotta say, never thought I'd see something in a DL thread that was interesting and not taken from somewhere else, but this thread was pretty lol and showcased DL's core assholes quite nicely, quite entertaining, thanks for the read.
