Agni Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Trying to make a tier list when you don't have first-hand access to the game is asking for trouble.
Pichy Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Hence why I asked for an actual one, so I could work out what its logic would be and thus see if I understand the game at all.
psycofang2 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 from the whole couple of hours of UNiB i just watched, i kinda understand this games issues. from an outside perspective the games neutral is amazing tbqh but the combos themselves as pretty and fantastic as they are need to be shorter. this will bring in huge balance changs to characters, speed up hitstun decay, the exes system i think can stay but make it much more costly, build slower, maybe it carries between rounds, allow it to extend combos but once used in a combo theres an exes gain penalty that wont allow it to gain anymore until the combo is done, or at least very little is gained. burst system imho is indeed needed, the games offensive power is too great in comparison to the defensive side. they dont need to make bursts super accessible but make them cost something to get you out, circuit break? all of your super meter? meter + exes? thats all i can actually see wrong with this game. there will of course lead to a whole chain of fixing, rebalancing, but i really feel like this compant can do it and survive.
Surf Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Yea you make a lot of good points Fang. The offense and defense are greatly inbalanced. Characters can kill each other in 2 solid combos. Burst system specifically doesnt need to be added but something to get your opponent off of you is needed. Guard cancel system that uses 100 EXS would be fine. And they do indeed gain EXS WAY TOO FAST. There are too many ways to gain meter in this game and the speed at which you get it is absurd. One example of something that just makes no sense to me is that a couple if not a lot of the games supers are + on block. Take Gordeau for example, one of his supers he can use on his wake up and the hitbox makes it almost impossible to not be able to make contact with it at all. Resulting in him being either safe if you blocked it, or screwed if he CH you. So you lose either way, coupled with the dumb meter they usually have 100 EXS to do this consistently. But as many have said this game is CT. So we'll just have to wait for them to slowly work out the kinks. And I think when they finally have, the game will be truly amazing.
psycofang2 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 I hope so. this game is beautiful to me, ive been excited for it since i heard of its coming and was fed scraps of info. i just hope the game developers know whats wrong with it and know how to fix it, since fixing can and usually is VERY difficult usually leaving a sour taste in some peoples mouth. everything is this game down to how they move in the air screams potential. i want to see it work.
LionHeartx Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Gordeau's super is safe? I think you're talking about EX version of Grim Reaper. Even then it doesn't have start-up invincibility (or at least not a ton of it) and he cant combo off it without CS. I personally think EX moves should be really REALLY good in this game since they cost half your meter.
Surf Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Odds are you'll almost always have at least 100 exs though.
LionHeartx Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 That's true, meter build in this game seems crazy. Well if they toned the meter gain down I think most of the EX moves could retain their current properties.
Xtra_Zero Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I've played this game. My big turnoff is that characters can confirm into stupid shit off of almost any hit from anywhere on the screen, which from what I can tell is why so many people dropped BB.
Effenhoog Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Yeah I'm really hoping for a patch (or more likely a future version/sequel) to address this. overly frequent long combos have killed my interest in way too many games this gen, I'm not going to go through this again. I will pick this game up if it gets a NA release and play it for fun, but I'm definitely not going to take it seriously in its current state. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAPUkxsJzEM&feature=youtu.be&t=18m25s 18:25 IMO Guilty Gear, Arcana Heart, P4A, and Melty Blood are all around the sweet spot for having fun combos without wrecking the pace of the game.
xlolxlolx Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 1 minute long combo, pretty decent.......
Aloci Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAPUkxsJzEM&feature=youtu.be&t=18m25s 18:25 Okay now. I like long combos. But that was just silly.
Surf Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 We'll just to wait on French Bread for updates on that version up. They said it would out about Spring time right, so maybe just 2-3 more months
YukiBlue Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I came in expecting like a 60-hit combo. WELL NEVERMIND.
Fujiwara Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 This game needs tag mode. Or 2v2 VatistaVatistavsVatistaVatista That's my dream
LionHeartx Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I've seen infinites in marvel that end faster then that. Damn.
Xtra_Zero Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 IMO Guilty Gear, Arcana Heart, P4A, and Melty Blood are all around the sweet spot for having fun combos without wrecking the pace of the game. Fucking this^
Starlight777 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 That Linne combo makes it painfully obvious that this game needs some type of functioning burst system or nerf to the game's meter gain.
haketh Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 The game doesn't need burst, just proationa dn histun needs to be worked on.
F. Wily Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I could live with a meter penalty that is scaled to the combo counter and/or damage. Burst would be a bit much... a guard counter/attack would not hurt however. They already added meter gain to the opponent during a combo so... adding the meter penalty to the character doing the combo would make a lot of sense, with that in place you could leave CS untouched.
Xtra_Zero Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Imagining this game with a parry mechanic is making me lol ... actually that might be pretty cool
caiooa Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Imagining this game with a parry mechanic is making me lol ... actually that might be pretty cool actually...the "ex shield" in melty blood is very similar to 3s parry. It's just that it have a specific button to activate, and have a whiff animation (so it can be punished in whiff). Maybe (i said maybe) we can compare it to "the last blade " deflect .
