[CP1.1] Makoto Nanaya's Gameplay Discussion - When's 2.0?

i don't mean to come off as whining but it's pretty disappointing how Makoto was clearly the worst character in BBEX yet she barely got buffed in CP so she's still the worst character. Meanwhile Taokaka, Hazama and Valkenhyn have been top tier for the last 4 games. Their balance decisions confuse me.

I think it's makoto's design that really hurts her ranking her drive is just an extra attack, while the 3 you mentioned have drives that can be used for attacking, keep away, and just quickly closing space.

Granted, I still feel like makoto should be on par to a character like Valkenhyn when it comes to damage output or bring back the cs2 lightning arrow and stop nerfing our carry tools.

I'm still holding out for a ps3 Makoto buff that most likely won't happen. :)

Honestly, I just want Makoto to be a real rushdown character instead of some pseudo-Ragna. That's all. In every game the strongest characters either have ridiculous footsies or ridiculous mobility, it makes me regret that I missed out on CS2 Makoto. Edited by Eshi

I agree that their 'balancing' style seems completely inexplicable. They take characters who have innately strong tools (like Tao, Valk, Hazama) and then ALSO give them crazy normals and combos that do no less and frequently more damage than the rest of the cast, and then they seem to balance the characters who DON'T have innately strong tools with this super delicate touch like they're afraid that like, making Makoto good would totally break the game or something. She was no worse in CS2 than any of the earlier 3 mentioned are in CP.

Meh.

No one answered my question about 3C though; What changed with it?

OD makoto is really close to CS2 minus the instant drives.

It looks like CP tried to make her rush down better with stuff like cosmic ray but since you have to charge it it's too slow and for some odd reason 3C got a nerf

Ahhh. Stupid Goro needs to stop owning ppl!

This phenomenon would also explain why Tsubaki is still not good. :P

I thought they made it so you can't really do much after landing 3C. But I can't find anything to back that up atm. My bad if I'm completely wrong on this one.

I don't give much thought to tiers...

Tiers mostly measure whose being used most often, and how many people have won with them. And let's face it, with a learning curve like Makoto's to be used properly, Makoto isn't being used very much in official matches outside of Goro.

However, Every character, no matter what tier, can pose a threat in the right hands and mindset! There are pros and cons to every character! This means that Makoto will have some drawbacks like the one's mentioned above!

Let's face it guys, we didn't exactly win the CP Jackpot in terms of buffs, but we can't just sit here and mope about it! Makoto's still and awesome character with a unique rushdown game! Goro is doing just fine with Makoto this time around, and with a lot practice and Experience! I can't see any reason why we can't someday reach our true potential with our Squirrel Goddess! Even Goro had to take some time and practice to become good with Makoto! Doesn't the fact that we take a character that looks sub-par and make her a deadly threat make us that much stronger to?

All I'm saying is lets cut the whining and negativity, and do our best!

I thought she got some decent buffs imo. It's just that they don't matter in the long run. :/

I'm not gonna get that emo about Makoto because she is definitely 100% viable and shows just how balanced of a game blazblue is. She's just been boring me really, really badly and BBCP doesn't bring much new stuff to the table so I'm picking up another character. She barely requires practice to keep fresh anyway =/

I feel you man. I don't find her as boring as you do though. Overdrive is going to give me some nostalgia for roughly 10 seconds at a time. Oh and Unlimited Makoto for some makeshift OD combo practice lol.

That being said, I'm already on the Azrael hype train. #jacketkicks

You guys. I still love playing Makoto despite all my hardship through Extend and I don't plan on switching or sub any other character anytime soon. Then again I'm sold to Makoto.

Let's not turn this into a waifu war, alright? I'm fairly certain you've played other characters too. I made a conscious decision to get back into EX with Makoto, the same character that got me playing BB in the first place back in CS1. I could have sped up the reintegration process with Hakumen but I didn't.

It's... uhh... difficult to say the least. That's what I get for ragequitting BB 9-10 months ago. :/

I play both, and i'll say, she's slightly better than ragna, IMO IMO IMO IMO.

They made her way much easier in CP (probably the easiest character in game?). So... I'd say ASW is aware of her current placement.

That's the problem. She is no longer that character you are talking about.

I went through this but then i realized that its never fun unless I'm playing Makoto <3, plus its piss easy to master anyone in BB, so better stick with Makoto and improve that life time footsies.

My only complaint about BBCP Makoto is she got a color palette nerf :(

Buff for me. I've never stayed on one palette in CS, but maybe i could now in CP... just maybe...

Anyway. Makoto died long time ago back after CS2, no need to cry about it, hope the haters enjoy what she became now.

And please guys stop with the "Makoto is low tier, but still good, and i'll never drop her because im awesome" discussions, its becoming all what i read now :lol:

Nope. I played Tsubaki in CS1 until Makoto became DLC then never turned back. I do happen to play Platinum when the alcohol level in my body is too high to play Makoto but I don't plan on doing so in BBCP.

Considering that the frame data indicates that absolutely nothing has changed with 3C, and -that if you do the math:

3C downs for 40 frames on hit. Recovers for no more than 13. (10 frames 'actual' recovery, 3 unused active frames) and 2C starts up in 24 frames... 24+13=37<40=You can "link"/pick up with 2C after 3C according to the latest frame data.

"Changelogs" are basically just "**** people thought they saw while they were screwing around with the character during loktests/early release" and inevitably have tons of bad info in them.

My only complaint about BBCP Makoto is she got a color palette nerf

Color nerfs across the board in CP. The only good thing to come out of it is the demise of the Velveeta palette.

If you think 3C is bad then you don't know how to use it. It's all I'm gonna say.

What's this crazy talk about a color nerf? The black,white, with green hair makoto is badass and the new swag jacket is boss. The only thing I wish she could do was opt to keep the jacket on or off. Or use it as a long distance poke like Azrael!

Do rememeber that not all what's in the mook is right too. In transition between CS2 to EX, 3[C] was invu till the end of the recovery in the mook.
