That's because Ishiwatari hasn't participated in GGXX development since #R. Now he's back and from what I saw, we got the near OP Eddie back too.

OP Eddie was always here.

He just needed Ogawa to figure him out.

I mean if Ogawa did play +R then Eddie might ended up being a top tier.

This is one of my favorite things about GG. Despite it being pressure heavy and combolinkschainrevoleverinstantfortressgutsblahblabhalbhablah a few good normals in the right spots with some good blocking goes a LONG way. The game is still focused on fundamentals despite the potential power the game gives to leetcombomasters running top tier. Mostly a result of utility move templates and the damage scaling algorithm. XX had a really good damage scaling algorithm.

About M.O.M. MOM is really fun. It's like XX mission mode meets BB's Abyss mode meets AC+'s Survival mode. You get a grid of character battles to select from and based on which you choose you progress through the grid and unlock more until you hit a key battle marked by a star on the map, where when you beat that battle the cleared battles reset and you can play them again, and the borders you were blocked by beforehand are lifted and new higher level battles appear. Your HP heals a little bit between battles but otherwise carries over. My arcade lets you play through 10 battles, the operator can probably change this. Each battle has specific conditions, kind of like XX's Mission mode, and they can get quite difficult. Right now, for example, I'm stuck on a Slayer battle where he takes almost no damage and has multiple life bars, but is weak to Blitz Shield. Because of how difficult things get, you may actually need some items/buffs to complete them. If you lose all your HP, or run out of time in any battle, you lose the set and get game over. Your progress is recorded via your AIME card. Each time you start MOM mode, you enter a shop, where you can buy stats, equipment (you get 4 slots for equipment, equipment has stat requirements), and moves (you get more 4 slots for moves, they also have stat requirements). Extra moves are performed by a combination of Start and a direction. They're generally copies of other characters' special moves, timed buffs, HP/MP restoration, or items you throw on the field. They all have recovery animations, but you can cancel into them from normals, RC them and so on. After each battle, there's a short window of time where you can still move your character. When the opponent dies, they drop a chest. During this short window, you can run up and attack the chest. If you hit it enough, it opens and medals or HP restoration items come out. There's also a chance that you'll earn that stage's item (predetermined before battle and specified on the map). There are different types of chests, determined by color. Regular ones will open with just 3 hits of any move, some require hard-hitting moves, some chests will bounce around when you hit them, some chests will hover high in the air offscreen, some require certain elements to be used on them, etc. The non-regular chests are kind of difficult to open within the after-battle window, even if you know what you're doing. The mode usually lasts longer than arcade mode and is generally more fun anyway, so nobody really plays arcade mode anymore from what I've seen.

And then there's Justice.

The problem is that the good versions of +R Justice already existed. They're called Faust, Axl and Dizzy.

EDIT: And Potemkin.

Regarding Dizzy, she didn't really show up in GG2, did she? Isn't she in stasis or something?

As for other characters... To go back a few pages, I can guarantee you that they aren't putting in characters to appease Western fans. ArcSys does not care much at all about the West. They make games for Japanese arcades. Any love we get is collateral. Which is fine because it's still more love than most devs give me. Yeah sure, ports take a while, localization takes a while, sometimes shit like the +R patch delays happens. But the amount of effort they put into their games is damn special. I just hope that Japanese arcade players demand Order-Sol, is all.

Holy shit, that sounds amazing! It's like every bonus mode from every ASW fighter (including the potential-squandering Legion Mode from BB) combined into one.

OS not coming back would be a pretty bad mistake from a business standpoint. He'll be back one way or another, maybe even Sin will have his play style, being Sol's pupil and all of that. But then again nobody likes it when their main goes from looking like... OS to looking like a bishie all boy band member. Since they're cloning Aria (or was it a Valentine clone?) there might be a Sol clone that plays like OS, who the fuck knows, I just know that he'll be back someday.

Also remember how Kliff's been dead forever and he's playable in all games? Yeah.

He's playable in all non-canon games. Sorry to be nitpicky, but I think that's an important distinction to make.

I am not convinced

He did play Slash and +R Eddie is better than Slash's IMO

Yeah like +R.

Also GG1 isn't canon?

Of course not, why would the start of everything be considered canon. That'd be like saying BB CT is canon. I mean PSH! Also, those playable prologues Kliff and Order-Sol appears in ain't canon, they're all just fanfics written by Ky. :V

Apologies for the sarcasm if it's grating to anybody. But we're talking about Fighting Games here. The genre itself has proven that Canon don't mean scrap as long as the developers want that character in their game. They'll bring that character in there, no matter how stupid the "story-reason" is. Lemme just point that out.

While I don't find the sarcasm grating, I thought it was pretty obvious I was referring to every game made after the original GG, since Kliff was still canonically alive in that one.

People going "they keep bringing back those two guys even tho they dead lolz" has happened a number of times both here and elsewhere, so I was just pointing out that said characters are regulated to appearances in non-canon installments and as console-exclusive bonuses that have no bearing on the plot, meaning they've yet to retcon their deaths. Not that it would be any kind of fighting game faux pas if they did, but jeez. God forbid developers ever kill anybody off in a game about a bunch of people attempting to kill each other while still trying to appease the fanboys demanding a "full roster" or else.

Wait what? How? Are there really that many HOS fans willing to boycott the game is he doesn't get in? :?:

Popular character. His playstyle demands a lot of rushdown and initiative. I honestly like the character a lot but I won't flip tables about him being out. Not if others think the same

Honestly, there are a lot of characters to bring in GGXrd before working on a Sol reskin.

I expect that Sol will at least get the Holy Order alt costume (unlockable or DLC), which may or may not lead to Arc deciding to go all the way and make OS playable since they already made the model and some existing framework.

Tbh, I'd rather just see them put a new character all together, too excited to see how the rest if the cast would look

I would rather they make a new character that has a much stronger visual distinction from HOS but fills a similar playstyle.
