destruction_adv Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Elphelt's taunt is my new favorite taunt in the cast.Looking a her animations she reminds me of BB Hood, except it seems her clumsiness is genuine. I'd like to see an actual translation soon, but the google translate stuff gives a pretty okay picture of what she plays like, and she actually sounds pretty fun. I notice there was something in there about waiting to take a shot making the shot more powerful, or is that just google translate making words confusing?

Blade Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 If I had any sort of 'complaining' to do it would be that they haven't found an excuse to put Testament, Raven, and Justice in the game yet. Â Other than that I'm just peachy. Â Does anyone know if someone already translated the Famitsu scan on Elphelt info yet? Â If not, I'll give it a look-see perhaps.
Jocelot Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I am 100x more excited to use her because of the move that makes her charge at you while riding a giant bouquet. She looks great, TGS can't come any sooner!
TekkamanArk Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I'm really interested in Elphelt actually. I might have someone new i'll actually use a bunch instead of relying on my not-even-tertiary characters from GG since all the ones I liked prior got cut. She kinda reminds me of Face in Battle Fantasia, and I loved using Face (and Freed).
Appledash- Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 A Guilty Gear gun character... Damn it and I was so set on using Ram. I wish I could see video so I could tell what kind of character she is, because she doesn't look like a pure zoner, but it's really hard to tell from just pictures. I wonder if she'll be as versatile as her floating-sword counterpart. Depeding on how fast her guns are she could have some mean Eltnum style footsies. Her dust (think Zato is the victim in the article) looks like she's slipping and accidentally kicking them, lol. I like the contrast between how silly she looks and how sharp her marksmanship is. I mean, look how casual she looks.  The cake super is so hype. I'm trying so hard not to gush and look like an idiot right now. But it's not working. Now we just need Jam and I will never be able to pick a main.
XXXDC Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 ^this, never thought I'd see TOO much boobs. While not a problem, throwing a double d on any female for the sake of sales is extremely unoriginal and stale at this point. It's like eating too much of the same thing, soon the very sight of that food drives a person mad. I wouldn't mind a small break from all these damn tits. Can't we get a modest girl just once more before continuing the fan service? Just one more time please. Just a size reduction or longer pants or something else modest I dunno. We don't need a nun, just you know... A modest girl with some damn morals or something. Maybe I'm crazy but seeing the same double d's in anime, games, movies, commercials damn give it a rest. All i read is boobs-boobs-boobs. I prefer this over most new stuffs filled with little-girls, schoolgirls, schoolboys and a token random character/monster/whatever.  And no, IN MY OPINION GG doesn't need more females (we don't need more waifu simulators), it needs more cool/badass/metal males instead.    http://www.famitsu.com/news/201409/11060880.html    I was hoping for her to have some I-no-ish attitude to contrast her design, pretty disappointing.
SoWL Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 I was hoping for her to have some I-no-ish attitude to contrast her design, pretty disappointing. We already got a genuine I-No, why make another one?
D.R.F. Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 as long as we dont get a noel in gg, or a jin. im alright without them ahah
tataki Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 i'm not questioning the example you are referring to, I'm just putting forward two other examples where getting hit out of YRC costs no meter, just follow the link I linked, sol fafnir>YRCs and gets hit out but doesn't lose meter. Anyway it's your video so do whatever you want with it, it's just one claim that is not entirely accurate in my opinion. Like I said after more testing I can add a note to the video. It's really not a big deal.
redsilversnake Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Brief summary of the Famitsu article. Not 100% sure on the bolded part, though. Â To use the rifle, you input a certain command and she'll assume a stance. During this stance, she cannot move, the lever instead being used to aim the reticle that comes up. She can aim at various distances to put pressure on her opponent from afar. To use the shotgun, input a different command, and she'll assume a stance that alters her movement. She becomes very deadly at close range (even though shotguns actually have relatively good effective ranges, so even though hers is pretty short, I'm pretty sure it'd still have better reach than portrayed in the game; do some damn research, Ishiwatari) and gains a forward somersault to keep herself close to her opponent. After shooting either weapon, she can maintain her firing stance by inputting a special motion to reload. If you fire too soon after assuming a stance, it will be harder to hit the opponent and the attack will be weak. If you wait, however, the reticle will become larger, the attack will do more damage, and the knockdown effect will be greater. Pachi says that she's simple and has enough of a variety of moves that should help her be playable in a more basic style (don't let your guard down, though, remember that Mori said something similar about Izayoi in BlazBlue, who turned out to be anything but). She has a handgun that she can use without the need for a stance, and can fire it multiple times in rapid succession. She has a move where she throws a grenade with a strawberry design, and the explosion can be delayed by holding the button.
Chainsaw Guitar Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 (even though shotguns actually have relatively good effective ranges, so even though hers is pretty short, I'm pretty sure it'd still have better reach than portrayed in the game; do some damn research, Ishiwatari) Â No, I'm pretty sure shotguns are supposed to be nothing more than short ranged explosions. Other video games depict them the same way, so it must be true.
greatfernman Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014  She has a move where she throws a pin that explodes, and can alter the distance by holding down the button. I think this part was saying that she has a few trajectories for the strawberry grenade, and that after the pin is pulled, holding down the button let's you control the explosion timing. I assume this is akin to cooking a grenade in an FPS, so she probably pulls the pin when you do the command, but doesn't throw the grenade until you release the button (presumably she'd be able to blow herself up then)? or it could be that she pulls the pin but doesn't let the lever fly off until you release the button, so it's not really cooking the nade it's just controlling when she throws the grenade. Hopefully it's the former because the latter sounds way more boring and standard  but I'm not too sureÂ

It doesn't go into further detail, though, and the screenshots just show the move itself, so we'll most likely have to wait until footage shows up to know. Anyway, gonna fix the post.

Is that you?
greatfernman Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 oh right, so the move with the 'nage' followups (236P) is probably the grenade, so it looks like she has two trajectories to choose from (or maybe three if not doing the followups is a different trajectory), and that she can do it and the 4P follow up in the air.  Also bridal express (214K) is probably the move where she rides on the bouquet, since the description of that move says it can be done in the air and the command list lists it as Air OK (http://www.famitsu.com/images/000/060/880/540d8f5032813.html and http://www.famitsu.com/images/000/060/880/540d8f505431e.html ) unless that's a normal and not a special. We'll have to wait for more details to be entirely sure.
TAI-X Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Oh no, all the Dante/Chris/Deadpool gun spammers from Marvel 3 are going to flock to Elphelt on netplay like flies to carrion.
Henaki Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 that character sounds fun and well designed imo
BladeOfJustice7 Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Oh no, all the Dante/Chris/Deadpool gun spammers from Marvel 3 are going to flock to Elphelt on netplay like flies to carrion. I hope they love full screen beams of fire and lightning if they think that shit'll work  I just care about how Sin's RTL works, More specifically how it'll differ from Ky's.
TheRealBobMan Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 So her rifle has 1-shot before it has to be reloaded? And she can smack you with a bouquet? Now she just needs the garter belt with some silly reference on it and she'll have everything I was hoping for.  I was kind of hoping her rifle would be an old flintlock musket, but it looks close enough that I'm happy with it. A lever-action for reloading is much better for the pace of the game anyway (wouldn't want GG to turn into this ), and should look pretty stylish.   I don't think I'll wind up playing her, but she's pretty cool.
TeeJay Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I'm just ready to see them in motion, even if it's played poorly.  I like the look of her rifle too. I hope it looks as cool in action.Â
JCraile Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 and Gamer with better resolution.http://www.gamer.ne.jp/news/201409110048/ So that's the new character. If it is just visuals alone, I'll give her a 9/10 (-1 for wearing high heels). Â But, I think I had a feeling that I won't be touching this character after a few tries in the future. Yes, probably 90% of this character's features are cool and all but it doesn't suit my preferences.
SoWL Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 She becomes very deadly at close range (even though shotguns actually have relatively good effective ranges, so even though hers is pretty short, I'm pretty sure it'd still have better reach than portrayed in the game; do some damn research, Ishiwatari) Just because she becomes deadly at close range (which shotgun kinda is) doesn't mean that she can't fight with it from afar, and Ishiwatari deserves to die of shame. For comparison, here's a different translation from Tumblr:By entering a specific command she enters shotgun stance. Taking this stance, she is given several moves ideal for close-combat. It’s possible to enhance the firepower at close proximity, including a fast rolling move and a blow-back technique.
Uncivilized Elk Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 All i read is boobs-boobs-boobs. I prefer this over most new stuffs filled with little-girls, schoolgirls, schoolboys and a token random character/monster/whatever.   Let's just give May a boob window too! And Jam! Hell, give Bridget a damn boob window. Hell, go Ram on them and remove 80% of their existing clothes altogether because why not? More horny teens may buy the game. That's essentially the complaint. There is nothing to El's character that emphasizes the need for awkwardly-designed cleavage. And boob windows in general make very little sense outside super quirky lingerie or an equivalent costume. I-no's character matches her clothes; the design fits and makes sense beyond just being fap material. El's really doesn't; and hell, they even give you a downblouse-style cleavage shot during her super or dust to boot. It just screams of throwing your own character under the bus for the sake of some superficial fanservice. I just want a cohesive design (with some form of balance in regards to character types). If the character is going to be provocative/flirtatious/seductive/promiscuous, sure, make their design as revealing as I-no's. Makes sense. I'm also okay with lots of skin if they are wearing a very sporty outfit because they are an outdoors-y physical fitness type of person (but then most games tag on underboob to these female characters which makes no fucking sense in any context outside lingerie or an equivalent, and again is for the pure purpose of fanservicing tweens). I feel like Millia and May are both really good designs that make sense for the characters. (I loathe how May's [and ABA's, and S-ko's] personality revolve pretty much entirely around getting a man not interested in them to notice them, but I largely ignore GG's story altogether and that's beside the point.) The fact that El and Ram both have rather strange design choices that are clearly for tween-fanservice purposes makes me a bit worried for future female characters for GG; I'm just hoping they can be lumped with Dizzy as those several designs that got soured by fanservice elements rather than a new trend of every female being some otaku's idol-thing. Now complaints aide, El's playstyle looks really cool! I too can't wait 'til TGS. Also, are the videos of the recent Japanese tournament out yet on something that doesn't force me to pay and subscribe to see them?Â
