Kyosuke Kagami Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I think people already discussed about Isuka in this thread. IMO game only needed to get rid of that stupid Turn button to be awesome. Also I WANT CUSTOM ROBO KY MKII BACK
Circuitous Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Post about Xrd or don't post in this thread, guys. Next time I'll be clearer.
shinr Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 (edited) Watching the Chip and Ironicus LP of Metal Gear Rising while waiting for the PC version made me imagine a Platinum made Guilty Gear beat em up set during the Crusades, with the nod towards MGR via Justice using her bladehands to chop the Holy Order's giant mechs (hey, they need something for grunts to be able to take on the Megadeth-type Gears). Back to Xrd itself, unless converting the returning characters to the new engine is given a much, much higher priority, I expect at least 5 new characters, 4 playable and 1 Boss (I expect Testament to reprise his midboss role, unless he gets a shaft in favor of character specific matchups) unless the boss is merely a powered up version of the new playable character or a hidden returning character. I expect one of them is going to be a new Token Loli to replace May and Bridget. My personal theory: Ky and Dizzy's daughter born after the events of Overture (and giving the otaku a new waifu to waste money on since their previous waifu "cheated" on them with a frenchboy), with the gear physiology shortening the pregnancy and with the quarter-gear girls growing up faster than quarter-gear boys, just in time to be of equivalent age to X2 May. That or maybe Xrd will take place after 2187, with the year on Bullet Heaven being a date of creation or a missed patent registration date. EDIT: Knowing the Japanese, the GG2 cast will count as "new" in Xrd. Edited June 18, 2013 by shinr
Jocelot Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 I don't think any fighting game roster should try to have "token" anything characters. If May is grown up in Xrd, so be it. The only thing we should be worried about if she still has kickass Dolphin loops!

Silmerion Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 What does that have to do with anything? The implication is that BB is for otaku and GG is for "real" fighting gamers who only want Serious Business Characters. The irony is so thick here that you could build a bridge out of it.
00Bubbles00 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Looks like Xrd is most likely for PS4. Read interview with ASW. http://www.siliconera.com/2013/06/18/guilty-gear-xrd-sign-is-gearing-up-to-be-a-next-generation-game/
TheRealBobMan Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 So, I'll be spending at least 60% of the time I'm at E3 parked in front of the Arcsys booth next year (gotta leave some time for Nintendo, Atlus, and Suda51). Anyone want to RSVP to join me? We can get lunch at The Pantry down the street. So... even if it's somewhat disappointing that we'll have to pay $400 for a new console and $50 a year to play it online (if it's not also on PS3, which is a definite possibility), it's somewhat nice to know that they'll probably include livestreaming and all that other stuff that's good for community building with fighters. And it's comforting to know that they wont be filming us and monitoring our heart rate via a camera while playing either. Hell, that stupid "let me take over for ya' bro ara" button might actually be useful for coaching people via intarwebz if they build that into training mode. You could have someone take control, do some combo, have the inputs register on the screen in the command bar, and then try to reproduce the combo after they give you control back. You could always just look that stuff up on youtube or here on Dustloop, but it could be convenient to have this.

What'd be cool is a custom challenge mode where other players could put up optimal character BnBs or flashy combos, instead of the default outdated stuff.
Jocelot Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Next year E3? So a year from now? Oh god my heart has never hurt so much.
Skye Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Next year E3? So a year from now? Oh god my heart has never hurt so much. What happened to +R?
CyberAkuma Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Looks like Xrd is most likely for PS4. Read interview with ASW. http://www.siliconera.com/2013/06/18/guilty-gear-xrd-sign-is-gearing-up-to-be-a-next-generation-game/ Kidooka, much like other Presidents and corporate-level figures at other companies, says a lot of things. I'll believe it when I actually see a legit announcement. But I think he and the rest of ASW realize that thinking that their audience will all be willing to pay at least $400 to play their next game is overly presumptuous at best. Cross-porting is what I would expect, at the least. UE3 would make that easy enough.
00Bubbles00 Posted June 18, 2013 Posted June 18, 2013 Looks like it might not come out till 2015 =( Lets hope it doesn't get totally over shrouded by a sudden SF5 announcement for next gen lol. Surely Capcom is working on it and it will probably be graphically awesome.

Surely Capcom is working on it and it will probably be graphically awesome. Nah, they're probably working in another SF4 with Oni Ryu. Anyway, Xrd could come out for the PS3 unless ArcSys already started doing it with the PS4 which is unlikely. On the other hand, AC was ported to the PS2 when it was released so I think that they are going to release Xrd for both consoles.

Read interview with ASW. http://www.siliconera.com/2013/06/18/guilty-gear-xrd-sign-is-gearing-up-to-be-a-next-generation-game/ I would be surprised if Xrd wasn't a PS4 game to begin with, everything on the game screams next gen

Surely Capcom is working on it and it will probably be graphically awesome. GG will always get overshadowed by SF no matter what, really. Thankfully, like most non-mainstream things, GG is much better. We shouldn't really care--GG has its extremely dedicated fanbase that'll support it anyway.
Vashimus Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 (edited) I would be surprised if Xrd wasn't a PS4 game to begin with, everything on the game screams next gen Because Unreal Engine 3 is totally next gen. PS3 release as well as the PS4 release would be the most optimal for them. Edited June 19, 2013 by Vashimus
White Man Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 ASW, why are you making it so difficult for me to love you?
STenSatsu Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 That announcement makes me wonder if that was the 'new fighter' for PS4 they were talking about or if it will be a completely different IP like I originally thought it would be.
bojack Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Damn. I thought the fact that this was on the Unreal 3 engine pretty much confirmed that this was gonna be a current gen title or at the very least a current and next gen. Is it ridiculous that Xrd is the only game shown so far that makes me want to get a next-gen system? Not any of the dozens of shooters (so much yawn), not Killer Instinct, not the next Street Fighter or MvC (not shown yet but inevitable)...maybe Darkstalkers 4 but since that probably won't be made, only Xrd. Well hopefully I'll be able to save up $500 by late 2015
Jocelot Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Is it ridiculous that Xrd is the only game shown so far that makes me want to get a next-gen system? Not at all. I'm pretty much in the same boat lol. What happened to +R? Maybe they think having it on Vita is enough for now... I dunno, I'm still itching for that one.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Not at all. I'm pretty much in the same boat lol. I have no reason to get a ps4 other than Xrd and maybe FF15/inFamous. I was watching an interview with Mike Z and he was saying how Xrd looks slower than AC and more akin to Slash, which he found to be the slowest and most boring version of GG. I never got the chance to play Slash, since I couldn't mod my ps2, so I'm curious about what others have to say about Slash. I know someone made a video comparison of Xrd and I think Slash, and they were practically running at the same speed. And although I only played AC extensively they always felt roughly the same speed to me. So I was just curious about everyone's thoughts on that.

So I was just curious about everyone's thoughts on that.I'm not too worried about a reduction in speed at this point. All we really know about Xrd is that it's in development, it seems to be pretty early in development, and Sol, Ky, Millia, and Eddie will all probably be in the game. I'm sure they're considering pulling back the speed a little, but when you're making a new game nothing's ever off the table.

I actually uploaded a comparison video of Xrd and Slash on youtube, which shows my attempt of recreating the combos from the trailer. Even though I couldn't synch them at the end (I had to put some delays in some combos) it turns out that they are roughly at the same speed like you guessed. watch?v=mSr4h71oqis
