TekkamanArk Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 The end result remains the same: we get an extra playable character, she's not the exact same copy of Nu, and you don't have to buy her if you don't want to. Honestly, this reminds me of the Terumi announcement, except that people are much more pessimistic this time. Is it because we already have some experience with old Lambda, so everyone just assumes her to be the same, especially with the lack of info on her new version? http://www.siliconera.com/2014/07/15/blazblue-chrono-phantasma-add-celica-lambda-arcades-fall/ "The magazine report reveals that Celica will fight using her Machina, Minverva. Meanwhile, Lambda will fight in Nu’s battle style, Luna Forma, as the base, and will have different Drive attacks." http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2014/jul/15/celica-mercury-and-lambda-no11-playable-characters-coming-blazblue-chrono-phantasma/ "Lambda-11, on the other hand, will fight in a similar fashion to BBCP Nu-13's "Luna Forma" fighting style -- Nu-13 is a character who starts off each round in her default "Dia Forma" fighting style, but is capable of switching into the "Luna Forma" style through her Phase Shift special move (down, down+A). Lambda-11's Drive attacks will also be different than those of Nu-13's."
Master Of Chaos Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 There's always a story reason involved, I suppose we'll have to wait for that explanation.
Anne Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Wait.. didn't Lambda fuse with Ragna in CS? Is she going to revive like Nu did, or are they just disregarding canon? This is an example of what not to do. Go to the Zepp Museum if you want story related stuff.
GEKKA Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Hopefully this means we'll get something akin to Extend when/if(?) this hits consoles and they'll hopefully add a more "desirable" character along with the [hopeful] balance changes/.
mAc Chaos Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php?/topic/8913-celica-and-lambda-hype-thread/I made a new thread for all of the Celica/Lambda stuff. Let's use this thread for just discussing the facts of the news stories and gameplay as usual.
Tokkan Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Unless we have more than these 2 characters coming our way, I don't want another "Extend" situation. Extend sold less than CT due to people getting disenfranchised over "wasted purchases" of DLC characters. If it happens again, they need better justification than a character or two and a few pieces of single player content.

While I agree with your point, I feel like they will have (or should have) learned from their "mistake" and make it better if they were to choose this route again.

True, if this was in addition to a few more characters (let's say Jubei, Nine, Saya, and Berserk Ragna), then it'd be just fine by me.

Narroo Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I do like the art style of that Lambda portrait. It's a nice 90's style with more realistic proportions and no moe. I wonder if she'll have a personality this time around?
Dawn of Musou Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Any details on how much American CP sold yet?
Luminos564 Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Any details on how much American CP sold yet? If you are to believe vgchartz, BBCP sold 52,784 copies since launch [ http://www.vgchartz.com/game/73151/blazblue-chronophantasma/USA/ ] in NA. I do not know if they cover PSN downloads towards it, but there you go. I don't know the sales figures for Extend either but I hear they were pretty damn low in NA. CP's sales are sounding, kinda low to me but maybe that's because there was a 6 month wait between releases.

VGchartz is usually on the "not to be trusted" list of websites, so I'd take that with a grain of salt.
kosmos badgirl Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Extend sold less than CT due to people getting disenfranchised over "wasted purchases" of DLC characters. Are you talking about Japan? because Extend sold better than CT and as much as CS only on PS3, CSII is the update that sold worst than the original game. I think they have enough stuff to make CP Extend, 2 new characters, the VITA CP beach scenario, throw there Celica and lambda extra scenario and maybe a new game mode and they can release it on disc, my opinion.
White Man Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Really cutesy, basically cuter than Platinum. A bunch of silly looking non-violent attacks. Cutesy is one way to put it. I'd say high spirited/peppy/cheerleader-ish is a bit of a closer description. I need alcohol.
susano Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 I have mixed feelings about the Lambda thing. I'll pick her up as a sub, but to me, the stance switch mechanic for Nu opened her up to many possibilities and freedoms that Lambda didn't have. If they give Lambda an entirely new drive and not make her a Ken to Nu's Ryu, I'll be interested. I'm torn though and wish they would have gone with someone else. I see quite a few people complain about the new Nu, but can anyone give me their reasons behind it? She's more complicated, but that makes her so much more versatile. Is it the complexity that pushes you away? Edit: I see the soldier look stated earlier. I think if they gave her a whole new look and different mechanics to fit, that would make it very interesting. The mode switching can be a pain online. I started back using her and can do some combos but netplay can throw off timing. I'm happy for Celica and Lambda but how will Lambda play? They can't have her like Nu. She also looks...err buffed.
Zedar90 Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Some more scans from a Japanese thread. In the new version, Nu won't have mode change.
Myoro Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Can I just say Minerva looks creepy as sin in her character portrait. That's coming from me, a Relius main.
Tokkan Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 "Ragna... Ragna the Bloodedge... I... want to meet... Ragna..." Can you say "back from the dead"? Also, wow at the fact Minerva has FOUR ARMS, although the big arms look like they're being worn/controlled by the small arms.
Myoro Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 "Ragna... Ragna the Bloodedge... I... want to meet... Ragna..." Can you say "back from the dead"? Also, wow at the fact Minerva has FOUR ARMS. That is wrong actually, only two arms. If you look closely the "big arms" are just sleeves. The fingers you see in the sprites are absent from the character portrait leaving ambiguous Kaka jacket like claw holes, and in the sprite you'll notice the smaller arms are absent. She can likely change the size and shape of her arms like Nirvana and Ignis. At least we now know that large wire is coming out of her head and is not supposed to be a tail. If it was I'd have demanded a Megaman BN6 Slash-Beast palette for her.
TekkamanArk Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 On the picture of Nu vs Lambda, isn't that the mode-change ring above her head, despite you saying she lost the shift?
Myoro Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 On the picture of Nu vs Lambda, isn't that the mode-change ring above her head, despite you saying she lost the shift? No that's just a backround graphic of her j.2DD. If you pop your game in and check you'll see what I'm talking about. Also is that image of Lambda using j.632146D her using a far range version? ir is it just that she's in OD and the first 3 swords have already faded?
Tokkan Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 On the picture of Nu vs Lambda, isn't that the mode-change ring above her head, despite you saying she lost the shift? No, that's part of her drive.
