Errol Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Honestly, I feel like a big issue was the heat gain loss. It didn't really extend matches, didn't make them faster, it just limited the options of characters that relied on it for pressure/mixup/reversal/combos. Like how I remember Ragna needing RC's to get good combos off his effective footsie range. Or Tager... just in general. I have my own personal issues with the heat gain (<10% hp and only like 40 heat) so maybe its more of a personal distaste, but I still feel like some of the newer characters could benefit from more RCs/metered defensive options. Also, not saying people should get just free damage. Even though I just joined in Ex, it felt way more balanced imo (and this is when I was terrible at BB) you can easily tweak up the heat gain the way the system works now. the old system was heavily slanted towards certain characters and anything that gets rid of that kind of mechanic is good to me. Hazama building 100 meter in a single combo wasn't really cool. guard primers and gold bursts were super dumb too、same reason. If anything I would prefer a bit less heat so I didn't have to deal with DP RC as much..
NecroTheReaper Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 But see, that's not really taking into consideration that combos do considerably less damage on average now. Like I said though, this is just how I see things, and I feel like reducing the damage AND the heat gain just felt in bad taste. I like everything but the heat gain (and the -meh- balance) in cP when compared to Ex.
Myoro Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Well, Relish Crowbar's character combo rate did go down, so that may be where that's coming from. But yeah, I miss super-meter too. I had a Fatal 6C combo back in CSE that at round start (even Ignis de-summoned) would carry them to the corner, get 50 meter and distortion them for 6000ish damage, while leaving 2%~3% IG for a de-summon. Good times. Now-a-days we get 3000ish damage, half a screen's carry and 30 meter at virtually no Ignis cost from a FC6C. It's not bad, but it's not extend.
LaziestNameEver Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Relish Crowbar Greatest misspelling ever.
StylisH Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Lop mk9 scorpion. In AE Daigo was the front runner for that character. And Eddie BODIED people. Usually though its the big players that get people flipping shit about certain characters, because if there is a will there is usually a way. Unless you are fighting kuroda. You are not beating that nigga in 3S Thats because there are a LOT of *ahem* fanboy-ism in the FGC. Half the top players don't care for roster balance, as long as they get to whore those tiers. (Wonder where all these Azrael players suddenly came from....)
Tokkan Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 http://www.famitsu.com/news/201408/07058595.html Interview. Also, a new system mechanic "Guard Cancel Overdrive". You can now cancel into OD from block.
Tokkan Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Valkenhayn's Himmel Wolf is now throw escapable. Holy shit. It's now a normal throw and can be broken like a normal throw.
TD Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 That sounds SO STUPID. But okay then Definitely need this mechanic clarified. At it's current properties what exactly would be the point. And who would benefit? Anyone with a passive OD most likely, and that's it.

Anyone with a passive OD most likely, and that's it. "Guard Cancel Overdrive" apparently will have the same length as normal Overdrive in the loketest versions at least.
Putin Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Hazama's stocks changed holy shit Also OD Houtenjin I guess
Kriegdrache Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Cancel into OD into Yukikaze. Cool. I hope they don't mess this up. Also, dat new Hazama meter. (pls give tager a magnetisim meter ;_; )
Zedar90 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 These haven't been posted here, right? Low quality scan from Famitsu.
RurouniLoneWolf Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 If I'm understanding this google translate properly, the new guard cancel overdrive was added because they originally wanted people to take advantage of OD's invincibility to disrupt pressure but a lot people didn't bother because they would accidentally get a regular burst instead. So they added a guard cancel. Interesting change. I'm curious to see what they think of it at the loctest this week.
Sourenga Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 "Growler Field has now only projectile-invincibility" Nerf time, here we go~

OD does act as a reversal already, it's just difficult to use because it tends to turn into a burst under pressure.
Master Of Chaos Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 The time of ultimate trolling is arriving.Incoming Celica, Hazama, and Arakune domination.
mAc Chaos Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Guard cancel? So you can use it after an attack was blocked? Like a RC? Or you can do it while you're blocking?
Chaoschao222 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 While blocking. The article shows Ragna activating OD as he blocks Jin 5C.
TagerTime Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Definitely need this mechanic clarified. At it's current properties what exactly would be the point. And who would benefit? Anyone with a passive OD most likely, and that's it. OMG! This will be AMAZING for Tager!
WolfCrimson Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I think it's done like a counter assault, press ABCD during blockstun to OD
Verimeloni Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 "Growler Field has now only projectile-invincibility" Nerf time, here we go~ WHAT
TekkamanArk Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 "Growler Field has now only projectile-invincibility" Nerf time, here we go~ Not at all happy about this, hoping it doesn't stick. EDIT: Also, I just thought about it, wouldn't "Guard Cancel OD" mean that you can't defensively burst either?
