Celica is looking like she's going to have the strangest hit boxes.

 

Also, depending on how much that DD heals, a Ragna vs. Celica match can go on forever.

Infinite time matches.  And I was exaggerating. 

 

Still, Unlimited Celica vs. Unlimited Ragna.  That could be an interesting no time limit match.

God I love their use of the chibi's in the radio show, wish I knew what they were saying.

 

But looking at this, Celica definitely doesn't seem to have any real doll mechanics. So she probably won't appeal to people who play Carl or Relius. Though that slashing distortion was badass, wasn't expecting a move that edgy to come from Celica. Was kinda hoping it was her astral.

 

She's freaking adorable though and I love the doll's design compared to the others. Someone get to work on the Celica ball stat! I must have it for my signature!

Kind of upset, I wish there were a hint at more characters. Now i'm just sad that we got another sword-chucking-bot instead of someone people actually wanted, like Jubei. Remember him, ASW? Remember how he has that armor, if you want to play the excuse that he's too small, and Carl's hurtbox includes the hat, if you want to say that's awkward to do? Any other pitiful excuses? No? Make playable Jubei happen already then!

Jubei is easily the most requested character in the entire franchise; there's no way they'd waste their trump card on a minimum-effort cash-in designed to keep the FG scene interested in BB for another year.  He'll show up in the next major installment in the series, when they really need to sell copies.

A new scan from Famitsu, can't be read though due to it's small size.

The bigger news would be the announcement of Xblaze Lost Memories.

Uhh, that scan is actually pretty old, I wonder why they used it.

They do have one actually. Mori mentioned in an interview. He stated something along the lines of "We've always drawn him in his hoodie and for us to be...". It was in the same interview where he said they "couldn't make a playable Celica since she's not a fighter". Yeah, we all know how that turned out.

To be fair, Minerva is basically Celica's enabler for becoming playable and Minerva didn't actually appear until the final chapters of BBCP's story. Mori was just covering his arse by avoiding something that's technically a spoiler for the story of his own game. Even the BlazBlue Phase 0 novel avoided giving any sort of hint that Trinity was one of the Six Heroes because it came out reasonably close in date to the console version of BBCS; the intention was that you were to play through Bang's story in CS to get that confirmation.

I'm more concerned about balance. More characters is not always a good thing (looking at you Capcom)

Are you really going to say that in the wake of Kokonoegate?

 

So... Arc Sys royally F-ing up on the latest new character is somehow NOT proof that they should stop with the onslaught of new characters already?

 

IMHO, this game is about where it needs to be in terms of roster.  Too many more and it becomes unmanagable.

Tournament results aren't the end-all-be-all of roster balance. Eddie in GGXXAC, Yun in AE, MK9 Skorpion and a bunch of others considered broken and/or cheap that did poorly in tourneys.

Lop mk9 scorpion. In AE Daigo was the front runner for that character.

And Eddie BODIED people.

Usually though its the big players that get people flipping shit about certain characters, because if there is a will there is usually a way.

I was talking about future revisions that might add more characters, implying the balance isn't likely to get much worse than it already is.  It could still get worse, yeah, but it's not like they achieved this excellent gameplay stability that a new revision could potentially upset.  The 1.1 patch did remarkably little to fix the game's most glaring issues.

I've gone on the record as saying that the ideal number of characters for a 1-on-1 fighter is anywhere between 25 and 30, so I agree the cast for BB is quickly nearing the point of being bloated.  Still, CT and CS2 are proof that the number of characters doesn't directly impact how balanced the roster is.

Honestly, I feel like a big issue was the heat gain loss. It didn't really extend matches, didn't make them faster, it just limited the options of characters that relied on it for pressure/mixup/reversal/combos. Like how I remember Ragna needing RC's to get good combos off his effective footsie range. Or Tager... just in general. I have my own personal issues with the heat gain (<10% hp and only like 40 heat) so maybe its more of a personal distaste, but I still feel like some of the newer characters could benefit from more RCs/metered defensive options. Also, not saying people should get just free damage. Even though I just joined in Ex, it felt way more balanced imo (and this is when I was terrible at BB)

Yeah, it really did make the matches longer imo. Back in CSII, i remember killing opponents before the timer hit 80, back when I gained enough heat to pull GETBs
