can somebody explain the otg mechanics to me in detail? in my matches and vids i watch many times people will do a simple string or just jabs on an otg opponent after a throw or random sweep.  usually it looks like 3-5 hits. however sometimes i see players landing several hits on an otg'd opponent.

ie Kirino (trump card activated)

2C, (opponent on ground) j.C 5B>5C>5A>5B>5C>2C>2B>2A>2B all landed.

while writing this i just realized trump card was activated, so is the above string simply possible because u can reverse chain all normals and constantly keep the opponent in hitstun on the ground?

Just got this game the other day, decided on maining Tomoka and Akira, focusing on the former though. Love her gameplay, she is just a ton of fun to watch and play, she has short normals but if you can get the hang of those setups she is a monster, good mobility too. I use her with Izaya, Touma, or Kino, although I find Celty is okay too. Gonna go through some matches and get more out of her. I am hype for the next installment although it sucks it had to come out so soon after this one hit the states..Glad to see Tetsuya playable and I vaguely remember that teleporting girl from the anime. My only hopes for characters are to have Accelerator and Izaya playable and although it is a long shot Kazuma and Ryuho from S-Cry-Ed with Cougar as an assist. Maybe Sayuki characters too.

I picked up the English release and my first impression is not very good. I guess the non-familiarity with 90% of the cast is the main problem. It will probably take me a week to find a main.

Just play Akira.

But, seriously, my biggest complaint with this game is the netcode. My connection is pretty average, but this is one of the worst netcodes I've experienced in a while. Anything below 4 bars lags to a point where doing basic combos or even cancelling from normals to specials becomes annoyingly incosistent. 4 bars themselves are decent at best. A majority of my matches have just been terrible in that regard.

Haha, yeah Akira is a beast, as long as he has an assist with decent range for quick help with zoning (I just go with Dokuro-chan :P) and he is a monster, 66B almost never fails f you start the match with it, it blitzes the opponent catching a lot of people off guard. Sadly I agree on the netcode, I can get away with some silly stuff and chees out a victory but by no means am I pulling off any amazing combo and burst exstenders, it's hard enough to find people online as is in this game so getting a laggy match is pretty annoying once you finally find one. Netcode can make or break a fighting game *cough*MKX*cough!

Yeah Light novels are pretty obscure as is, not many people even heard of Dengeki Bunko before this game. I myself am only familiar with the shows featured on Adult Swim like Durara and SAO. Of course I know Virtua Fighter and Valkeria Chronicles as well and I know of Mikasa, Touma and Accelerator but I never watched the anime or read the light novels. Shana may be a good start.

I decided to run with Kirito as my main, simply because I love Sword Art Online. I've never read any of the novels myself, so I feel ya in regards of the cast being unfamiliar. I suggest playing each character in story mode, that may narrow down some choices to who you want to main. In addition, here is some info I found for beginners like myself, http://www.gamefaqs.com/arcade/734666-dengeki-bunko-fighting-climax/faqs/71123, and http://drunkardshade.com/ which was recommended to me by RurouniLoneWolf. Thanks again man!

Ignition box art

Unlike last time the boxart is the same across all platforms

Also for those curious what Tatsuya's resurrection mechanic looks like in game, but haven't saw it yet here is a specific time stamp. Not really game changing if the health difference is wide since you barely get any immediate health back, but it's a neat gimmick that essentially gives a small glimmer of hope for some potential future hype comeback moments.

Look, Sega, I'm glad that you finally listened to my pleas and remembered about KyoukaiSen's existence, but I can't really buy a game for a support character. Also, Asama is a weird assist choice in that she has good potential for becoming a proper playable character, unlike, say, Kimi, Toori or Horizon. But, well, I just have no idea what they're thinking now that they've made an assist playable. At least the dream of playable Neito still lives.

New promo video

Shows off recently announced new playable Shirai Kuroko [the new support Kazari Uiharu and a some of the recently announced three new supports too] and a new stage.

Here is when she appears

38:42 - 40:01 [Shows off what Kuroko and Uiharu can do in training mode]

1:04:51 - 1:08:07 [Shows off Kuroko in an actual match]

1:08:52 - 1:12:45 [Another Kuroko match]

1:14:07 - 1:17:27 [More Kuroko in training mode, but with a little Tomo support too]

First impression with not much analysis until I rematch more

- Very agile/quick movement speed to close the distance [even mid-air I think?] which shouldn't be a surprised for someone who teleports as her gimmick

- Range is below average for most tools as a tradeoff

- She does have a projectile with various trajectories/durations so she is not helpless when spaced out.

- She looks like she is on the lower end damage wise especially when scaled, but might have to look again to be sure

- Her teleport-you-into-a-collapsing-building super was surprising.

- Other super has around full screen range

- teleports mid-combo seems like it will be an expected sight

- Kizari assist attack #1 has a crosshair on you which will soon fire

- Kizari assist attack #2 have no idea what it is since it just shows Kizari looking at peace with flowers on her. Might be a counter sort of like Accelerator? Maybe you get a benefit if your in area or opponent gets debuff if they are near? Maybe it actually attacks after awhile and I just missed it?

- Tomo assist attack #1 fires an arrow type AA attack

- Later shows Tomo assist fire another attack, but it seems like it might have a charging gimmick since it took like half the opponent's health on hit.

- New stage is a Sega themed arcade/recreation area. Can see various Sega consoles and mascots. Aesthetically one of the better designed stages.

Seems like it might work similar to Robo Fortune's Laser Super. If you look closely at Kuroko's meter, it goes from 5 bars to 3 bars when she first summons the alternate Tomo assist and then she loses the remaining 3 bars of her meter. Right now, I'm speculating that it costs a minimum 2 bars to use this variation of the assist but if you hold the assist button, you can spend the rest of your meter for a damage buff. It's looking like a pretty interesting assist so far. Looking forward to seeing more of it

A few extra notes from me since I'm already here:

  • Kuroko's Trump Card is kind of awkward to use. She teleports above her opponent and throws a big down on them. She stalls a bit after teleporting and before throwing the rock though so it's easy to whiff on a moving opponent. Might be combo fodder or for sniping zoners
  • EX Projectile Special seems like a staple combo extender so long as you are close enough to pick up with dash 5B?
  • She has a nice selection of teleport locations: forward, up and behind. The behind one interested me the most since it might be nice for getting a whiff punishment game going
  • Uihara's singing assist is ADORABLE. Not sure what it does. I thought it was a counter super but I think I saw an Asuna player hit Uihara out of it. Maybe there are specific conditions?

Well, liking to see what's going on with the new chars and assists so far, and yay, the SeHa Girls stage looks awesome [also the Castle one, and an actual training stage]. (Though I still wished Dreamcast [or her sister consoles] was playable besides being a cameo in the Arcade story of the vanilla release.)

Stumbled on this tweet from Sourenga with detailed info on Kuroko and Uihara assist.

Kuroko's potential is pretty interesting. I wonder if the teleport that replaces the dash has any special properties. Uihara's 5S works in a pretty interesting way. I'm curious about the various effects of 6S. Guess we'll find out soon (Almost a month left until console release!)

:O Yuuki!!!! Welp, guess there's no need for me to keep playing Asuna with the closest thing to a Yuuki palette I could find anymore.

Damn, DFCI has too many great additions XD

Aww yeah, DLC boys. Maybe the people who wanted certain characters or certain assists to be playable will actually get them now instead of a DBFC3.

I'm actually excited for Yuuki. She's the only SAO character I like so this is great news. Hope she's fun.
