People are allowed to spend their own money any way they want and hold whatever opinion they want; however, there are consequences for every action.  As such...

If you make a statement that an unreleased product will not be desirable to anyone, you're taking a huge gamble that other people's opinions and personal feelings will fall perfectly in line with your own.  You have very little to gain for a correct prediction in this scenario, while an incorrect prediction will cost you your credibility and likely cause others to lose any respect they held for your views.

If you blindly decide that you're definitely going to buy a new product upon its release regardless of its quality, then you're the most destructive kind of consumer.  By choosing to support a company in this fashion, you forfeit the right to ever complain about that company's future actions or the quality of their future products because you directly contributed to the formation of a reality where that company profits from ignoring feedback from its dissatisfied consumers.

I'm getting it for two main reasons:

- To support fighters on Xbone (particularly from ArcSys)

- Have not played story mode due to only having a Japanese copy

Also, the chances are decent that Library mode will finally be translated this time.

Xrd got a library mode,so maybe this one will.

I'm just hoping NetPlay won't be as bad as CP was. I'm wondering which is better, XBone or PS4? I don't want to choose side but BBCP wasn't exactly a good environment, even if it was free...

Exactly. Went to the trouble of patching it in when they couldn't finish it in time, even.

I'm favoring Xbone this generation because of its non-fighting game exclusives. It's really a matter of taste. Now, the Bone is indeed being shut out of Street Fighter V, but I don't really give a crap anymore, except for how it might impact other publishers choosing whether to bring fighters to the system. I'm particularly worried about TxSF, if Sony has indeed purchased temporary exclusive rights to the SF series.

Yep.

And if ASW actually cared about the opinions of its foreigner playerbase, they wouldn't have stopped porting their games to the 360.

By all means, hold on to your money if you think that's what's best for yourself. Just don't act as if your non-purchase is sending a clear message to a Japanese developer company that you disapprove of their business practices.

Will BBCP Extend include all the DLC characters from the regular version? Or will there at least be some way for me to get the characters I already bought on Extend?

I would hope they would do that. And include the DLC songs as well cause Endless Despair II ain't cutting it

They should include the DLC characters, on account of Continuum Shift Extend including the DLC characters.

So Amazon.jp is getting an exclusive bonus DLC for BBCPEX.

It's a "cardboad box set" of lobby avatar accessories.

Also the description says they're adding "more surprising new functions" to network mode. Strangely it doesn't mention ranked match, only lobbies and player matches. It also called them "network lobbies" and not "online lobbies" like in the previous BBCP and in P4U2. No idea what to make of that, though it probably means nothing.

Rakuten lists "Lobby Accessory: Eagle" as their exclusive pre-order bonus.

Sofmap lists B2 tapestry as their pre-order bonus.

Also various shops hint that the common pre-order bonus "Rubber Strap" will have some kind of variations depending on the console for which you buy the game...

Famitsu DX will also be available. It comes with B2 tapestry of Ragna and Lambda, Arakune mug cup and an A3 clear file poster featuring the illustration from the game box.

In regards to the new characters, it's pretty disappointing that the new characters in Extend are basically copycats of characters we already have.

Thats not surprising considering they probably already exhausted all kinds of ideas to substitute the inclusion of Nine and Jubei as the "last" set of playable characters if that's their ways to ensure the last BB even sells decently after CP Extend. Cant blame them for trying to hold out on their trump card. _-_

Not buying a game doesn't tell a company you disapprove of how they do business, but buying a game does tell a company you approve of how they do business.  Sales figures are, in fact, the most effective way to communicate with the people in charge of making those sorts of decisions.  Consumer buying trends were what kept CP off the 360, and they're what will ultimately dictate whether or not ASW continues down this path of gouging their fans with hundreds of dollars of on-disc DLC, sloppy game updates, and full-priced revisions of titles that make the previous year's full-priced versions obsolete.

Would that make them change their policy though? Or just not port to the US.

Kinda depends on how Japan reacts to the situation, don't you think?

Posted

Well, it already happened with the 360. They just didn't port it over.

Wait.. how did they not port it over in the US via 360.. if CP was never released on the 360 to begin with? I'm assuming you just mean port as in porting to the 360 period..

Honestly? I don't think that was due to sales. Once again, they were getting somewhere around 1/3rd of their us sales on the 360; That's not a hit you want to take on your sales numbers. The fact that they are now headed back to the Xbox One lends some credence to that theory, IMHO.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Seems to me you're describing the lose-lose situation that happens with pretty much all videogame consumption these days. Buying the game is implicitly supporting the company, yes, but not buying the game could mean a lot of different things to a company.

For example: Let's say CP Extend sells less copies in its first week of release than CP did. What could ASW take away from that? "Maybe we shouldn't gouge our fans like this" is hopefully a possible consideration for them. But there are others. Like, "Maybe we didn't put enough new content in this product," or "Maybe people are losing interest in BlazBlue." I'm not a business major or anything like that, so I can't get too deep with this. But it's not easy to predict what a company will do when a new title sells less copies than an old title, or if they even expect as many sales as before.

Honestly, I wish they would just let people download the new gameplay update and leave the extra characters and story content for Extend. But the most they will probably do is reduce the price some time after release.

"More than 40 battle stages", looks like CP Extend includes the Alter Memory DLC in the base game. For anyone wondering about Terumi and Kokonoe, going from the update to the official BB website it looks like they are indeed included as part of the base Extend game, too.

The fact they needed to clarify that screenshot of the lobby is from the previous version is a little funny but probably means very little or perhaps nothing at all.
