Arcus Diabolus Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 I have to admit, BB wasn't as bad with fan service in the beginning. Sure, a sexual joke was tossed every now and then, but it wasn't blatant ecchi then. Now it just kinda ramped up into full fan service mode at full power. I wont complain as long as it does not get in the way of the central plot of Blazblue, but it does get annoying.

That entire line of thinking is just disturbing.

His first reaction was "why is that squirrel dressed like a slut," and I did a double take because I totally forgot how it appears to people normally. At this point it's just a bunch of lines and mechanics to me.

I don't think this would make him a deviant over there at least. And as said it has gotten to the point of desensitizing most people who consume it on a semi-normal basis, as anything would. We do have control over what we view at least.

And material aimed at otaku is seen as something that weirdos like; it's not mainstream. This isn't a zero sum game; both Mai and those other characters (other than Amaterasu) can and probably will be playable eventually.

Consider CS2 added Valk, Mu, Makoto, and platinum whereas BBCSE added only Relius (Not to understate the value of that contribution!) CPE, adding two characters, has already met that 4:1 ratio of characters added in the original edition to characters added in their respective extend edition, I'd be shocked if two more made it in, let alone three or four more. If their were three or more characters being added I'd be ecstatic, however my optimism and my other evidence doesn't sustain more additions. With lack of hard fact we'll just have to see how it develops. As an aside, I'd for one welcome Amaterasu as playable, be it probable or not. (Likely not, as you've pointed out)

Or had at least somewhat unique character designs that didn't look like Tsukihime style VNs? I miss those days. Why would you bring up Tsukihime in a discussion about fanservice? Its designs are some of the most conservative in the genre. Or is that a bad thing because they're not "Unique"?

Ok even if it is (and I'm not saying it is or isn't because I don't know), you can't deny that they are into the stuff that they draw and create. And it may seem unreal and disgusting to us but really we are doing the same thing in a different way. All the billboards and music videos and magazines of beautiful people. The final products may be different but the message is the same: sex sells. It sells movies, it sells books and it clearly is very prominent in video games around the world. My point about the vending machine was more about the age, jailbait and all that which may be controversial to us but completely natural to others.

Thinking on the concept of being able to seal the opponent, I could imagine a character's drive that would disable a button with these rules: The effect goes away after 5-7 seconds. If the opponent hits you the seal goes away. Sealing a button does not prevent actions that require multiple buttons (Throw, Barrier, Burst, etc.) I mean in the CS story at least Ragna and Jin get moves sealed so its not an impossible concept.

Ragna and Jin could get their Drives sealed for story purposes with no issues because it was a Human vs A.I. thing. PVP with the ability to disable a button would be hell. Noel players for example would get screwed if their drive was removed. Her normals are bad for a reason.
