[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
redsilversnake replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
Concerning the low roster, I already mentioned this in the BBCP thread, but you've also got to take into account that they didn't have many people actually working on the models to begin with (three modelers and three animators, according to the credits), to the extent that they put up job listings on the site. As for new characters, Sin and Ramlethal will of course get added, along with the older cast members, while the Senate will remain story-only NPCs. -
It actually would have to do with production costs, since if they're just using the models for rotoscoping, they don't have to put in time and resources making sure they look good, while with Xrd's visuals, they'd have to do a lot more fine-tuning. Pretty much the only things they could use from the models you refer to would be the base "skeletons" to make the transition slightly smoother (i.e., actually reusing animations instead of starting from scratch like Xrd).

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion

25, actually. "Everyone can see that they're strong: Zato, Faust Still pretty strong: Sol, Ky, Millia, May Average: Axl, Chipp, I-no, Bedman What a shame: Slayer, Venom Goodbye: Potemkin" He goes on to say that he doesn't think the gaps are really that big, though he didn't elaborate. -
The animation speed is the same; only thing that got changed was the hitstop. The only reason Xrd has a small roster right now is because they're using something brand new with only a few people (going by the credits, they currently only have three modelers and three animators), so there was no way they were going to include more characters in the time they had before release. And it not looking as good is just your opinion, not a valid point. Anyway, those who have actually played the game say it's fine. The only recurring complaint I've seen is that not every character made it in, but that will undoubtedly be rectified over time. If BB does indeed go in that direction, there's little reason to believe it wouldn't turn out as well as Xrd has. Preferring sprites to 3D models is fine, but excessively complaining about the transition from one to the other is just ridiculous. So, again, get over yourself.

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion

Isn't Pachi on Team Red? IIRC, he's on record as hating grapplers, which why Tager's never been good. So if Potemkin does indeed turn out to be weak, it could very well be his fault if he has the same position he did on Team BB. -
Overreact much? Like, seriously, this is the most ridiculous post I've read all day. Models ruined Marvel? No, that whole series is just kusoge. The 3D KOF games aren't as good? That's just SNK's lack of experience with 3D FGs, nothing to do with using 3D models. If using 3D models while still retaining 2D gameplay and maintaining as close to a 2D look as possible is enough for you to consider quitting FGs, get over yourself. Especially with the points Kurushii made, you're just coming off as yet another entitled fanboy who whines because he can't deal with change.

Arcana Heart 3 New Thread: Gameplay, Netplay, Etc.
redsilversnake replied to furix's topic in Misc Fighter Central
Very first line of the article is, "Arc System Works has provided the latest information on Arcana Heart 3 Love Max for the 2014/3/13 issue of Weekly Famitsu," so I'm guessing they're also publishing this version. Also, it only mentions that there will be a digital release, not that it will be digital-only. -
No, he doesn't. He's overrated as hell. Anyway, not too surprised by the Fall release. Depending on the actual dates, a region lock would probably be more frustrating than last time (well, discounting that those who tried to import the first one were chumps), but at least it'll be a couple months at most, unlike CP.

Wouldn't it being slower just be to have it work as oki? It seems like they noticed that was practically all it was used for, which is probably why they removed the button hold to begin with. Well, to be fair, there hasn't exactly been a whole lot of footage of her lately. Some players may very well be doing them, we just haven't seen it because we only get to see a tiny fraction of play. Maybe not enough to bump those down to 7-3, but I can see why Koma was pretty pessimistic. She didn't really get some of the things she needed even though certain other characters got things they didn't deserve, so I can see her worse MUs getting at least slightly harder.

Ah, okay. Thanks for the clarification. Really? She doesn't seem to have changed that much. Then again, I have to go by footage rather than actual experience. ^ "Just in case (there are people who haven't heard yet), we're planning a multi-platform home release on PS3 and PS4 later this year." #NothingNew -
[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
redsilversnake replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
She's always been strong, so this is nothing new. IIRC, either you or your opponent has to be in Hellfire state (i.e., the health bar is flashing), and the activation animation will freeze the opponent, allowing you to combo into IK. -
They're not controlled by Aria, the one in GG2 was just noted to look like her. And Justice being Aria is like Dizzy being the Maiden of the Grove; it's obviously true, people just don't see the clear-as-day clues Ishiwatari dropped. And I-No's stuff is more comparable to CT than CS. CT's was the one with time loops, whereas CS' involved the possible events from breaking the loop.

Pretty much. The only major differences were Sin's involvement in the conversation, Ky mentioning he had something to talk about (with Valentine, if I'm inferring correctly), and I think something about being king not dulling his sword skills.

There aren't any colors that are unlocked without in-game or real money. What you're describing is the Famitsu DLC color; the only way to get it is to buy a copy of the issue it came with. -

Only info on Xrd's OST right now is that there will be new tracks, Ishiwatari is composing them, and a handful will have vocals. Nothing else has come out on that front yet. -
She has actual gatlings now, her red axe combos apparently do more damage, and red axe lasts longer, but her oki got worse and Tectal says she has worse frame data. Overall, though, she is indeed less limited than before. Something to keep in mind, though, is that the other characters got better too (far as I can tell, Elizabeth's the only one who got worse?), which is likely one reason one of the top Lab players says she's actually worse in this version.
-
If you watch Konan and Kuresu, it would certainly seem that way. But yeah, Tsubaki is actually a good example of ASW having a weird/bad mentality on tuning their characters. During Extend, when she had lackluster pressure, an overly nerfed 5B, and considerably worse proration on her D attacks, what was it Mori said to people who played her? "lol, just use 214214D more." Because yeah, one super is suddenly enough to make an otherwise weak character strong, so it makes total sense to base your strategy around that.

Reactable overheads are a myth, though. The human brain is terrible at processing things that occur in less than a second, especially with other things to factor in, let alone allowing you to actually do anything fast enough in that timeframe. I mean that certain characters don't have good options against it. 665B? 2C mash beats it. IAD j.B/C? Better hope you don't have a weakpoint on you. Predict and block it? Congrats, now you get to deal with Azrael's pressure. Predict it and make it whiff? May or may not too far away to actually punish. The only character I've played that didn't have to deal with this move so much was Mu, and that was obviously just because of her good zoning game. None of the other characters I've played, all of whom are melee characters, have had such fortune.
