  1. I don't want to sound like a jerk, but I'm pretty sure you just don't have any decent sort of grasp on defense in GG, from either neutral or being knocked down. I can understand how playing without that knowledge can make the game look less deep because people are mashing shit out for big reward like you have mentioned multiple times, but that's really not the way the game is played out at higher level. The game is not over in the slightest when you get hit by a 40% combo and are knocked down in the corner, the fact that you even suggest that shows the lack of understanding of defense in GG. It's extremely hard to deal that huge damage against a player that understands any matchup, INCLUDING against slayer, eddie, etc. because you learn to avoid the situations that put you in great risk. Learning which situations you should be attacking or defending is one of the most important steps in becoming strong in this game. With better knowledge of matchups and spacing, as well as learning how to block, I'm sure your view will change.
  2. People are actually saying GGAC has less depth than the previous versions? wtf... Just for system changes alone: burst is sped up so it can be used in more situations, easy FD OS throw was removed so people actually have to think more when they throw, air throw range was lowered to make people think more when they airthrow, GB+ was removed off of projectiles so using your normals more wisely in pressure is rewarded. Just about every character got new options with force breaks that added even more depth to meter management (not that it really needed more, since it's so useful on offense and defense already). I don't see how higher damage and better mixup options would make GG any less deep. It just makes knowing your matchups and spacing that much more important, and punishes you for making mistakes. Depth in a fighting game is all about having many options in various situations that are viable, so the player is constantly making choices and gameplay is not linear. A good sign of depth is a varied cast and different styles of play that are viable for the same character. That is as apparent as ever in GGAC imo.
  3. My issue isn't with the total size of the pot as much as the fact that players who play both gg and bb for example, who think they have similar chances to win both or don't really expect to win either, are going to be raising one pot more than another just because they choose a primary game. Keeping the total amount paid the same but splitting the money between pots still encourages players to enter more games, without resulting in such a huge bias of entry fee vs total pot between people who entered it as a primary or secondary game. While I personally would like higher entry fees, that's only if people are willing to pay them. Most people won't. Keeping it at 5 dollars is probably best, I just think there shouldn't be weighted pots like that. Although with the "if you don't like it, go to a different tournament" attitude about everything (like waseda format which got ditched anyways) I guess you don't actually want any feedback?
  4. Why does the multi-game discount have to be completely one way or the other. Just split the discount between the different pots.
  5. It'd be nice if the pots were at least split more evenly between the games. I paid the same to enter GG that most spent to enter BB, had to beat the same amount of people in GG as the BB bracket required to win, yet the BB pot was almost twice as much?
  6. If there are going to be a good number of people outside norcal coming raising the pot a bit would be nice :]
  7. I didn't even play against you at this tournament Ken! and I used way more Baiken than I normally do! and I'm sorry you feel that way Mike, but the scene was dying with the release of Blazblue either way.. it happened all across the country. Just not enough players in a close enough vicinity.

  9. i'm gonna have that song on repeat on my phone now, the whole way, as karma.
  10. You in GG makes a lot more sense than me in BB. haha
  11. 5d might be better, I don't own the game so I can't test it.
  12. it can't be taught it's natural
  13. dude i love that game, just ask me whenever
  14. You can use 5a/2b pressure up close for a moderate risk low reward option (moderate risk because her frame advantage is trash), confirm 5a up close on standing to 6a, further away on standing just go into basic string, confirm 2b to basic string. You can use j.a to hit out of the air for j.B jc j.BC j.236c. 6b is decent if the opponent sits around a lot (doesn't know the noel matchup). If you're going to throw during 5a/2b stuff you need to be using kara throw with 6B~C. Airthrow is great if you land it but the range is ass and you're going to get counterhit fairly easily going for them, pick up after the airthrow with 2b to continue the combo. I guess some Noel players like using random 3C sometimes but I don't think it's that good and don't use it much, if at all. Your best bet is to use 5d and 2d usually though because the reward is pretty good and it's not that unsafe.
  15. hnk ft5 for $10? you didn't respond to the last post
  16. they didn't accept yet! haha
  17. Sure, I don't remember what it was though, how about ft5 for $30? hnk ft5 for $10?
  18. I nominate myself captain of socal gg team I think we might be able to do 5v5 which would be cool max is socal of course.
  19. want to mm? :] I think Rod is already hosting a bunch of people so getting it even more crowded might be asking a bit too much? btw how are the 3v3 socal teams being decided? I'd like to be on the gg and mb teams I'm curious about the seeding as well for the main tournaments, how will it be done? It would be silly to have socal and norcal knock each other out in the first rounds, and I think the brackets should be balanced out by someone who knows the players so we don't get some really easy and some death sides of the bracket.
  20. if you can just guess someone mashing out of a blocked 2c, especially since it's from Noel, you need to play some better people anyone can just block her and be ready to jump/tech throw or mash a against her "mixup" almost completely free 2c is an extremely slow move that 95% of the time isn't going to get you anything. you are too far to really stay in their face and canceling into any drive or 3c as a guess is scrubby as hell.
  21. 2c 2d or 3c as a block string are awful
  22. still the best fighting game
  23. Many players bring their own sticks, so it should be no problem to find one to borrow for your tourney matches. Just ask beforehand so you don't scramble for one when your matches are up.
