The New England Thread: Bears Warbling Outside My Igloo: A Polarizing Dilemma
Vyers replied to Zoob's topic in East Coast
Indeed, such a deliciously maso-chauvinistic message this anime portrayed. Good to have you for the trip Katz. Had my 2nd speaking test yesterday. Did bad, just not sure how bad. Emailed my 先生 to ask what my grade is at. Envisioned a Japanese character good with 1+1/2 page write up and Awesome Kindergarten Quality Crayola Doodles, which I sadly didn't get a prize for. Now It's down to Lit Final, J-pop final paper, and 日本語 final -

I don't remember what set up you had going exactly. Can you show it to me tomorrow? Like Fraga said CT tournaments have been non existent for a while, there's a newish gaming center in Boston that has been running some tourneys. Di0 has been doing GG/BB/etc. Thread here: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?13243-The-Brain-Box-%28Boston-Massachusetts-and-parts-of-New-England%29-Thread The Skullgirls party Nazgul mentioned is at The Next Level Arcade in Brooklyn, New York. They're running tourneys for BlazBlue, Melty Blood, Skullgirls, Guilty Gear, and Gundam. Some of New England is going you might be able to hitch a ride. Thread here: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?13929-Team-St1ckbug-s-Skullgirls-Launch-Party!-4-28-Brooklyn-NY-BB-GG-MB-GEXVS-SG Say hello to Guilty Gear Toronto for me. Hope work gets better. Good luck at the KOF13 Edit: Soothing and informative -

Hmm Toronto tourney. Hmm is Street Fighter X Tekken seriously an EVO game‽ Vyers is disturbed at the lack of GGAC and SG at this venue. . At least they have KOF13. How have you been lately Nazgul? I havn't been able to get in touch with you for some months. Edit: also I'm curious what language that is? The Black Speech of Sauron? -

Have you tried Skullgirls yet? Nice! I'm a lifelong member of the procrastination club. I've been trying to skip out on it for the past several years, but my subconscious always drags me back every semester. I'll check and see if it's cool with Noisetank Seeing as you already have a prior commitment I'd say go to that. I'd be going to NY myself if I heard about the Skull Girl release party before I made other plans. To increase the number of events he can go to Zoob just needs to create additional alternate simultaneous incarnations of himself. It shouldn't be too hard. . . There's already another him running the Engineering Department in Fuji Film's Lebanon division. Still procrastinating on that paper. My Japanese Lit teacher is a grammar Nazi to the point where just working on it wrenches my stomach into knots. -

Got the Kneesocks color, and a BnB: 2lk, 5mp, 5hp, JUMP, jmp, jhp, jhk, LAND, 5lk, 5lk, 5mk, 2hp, Jump, jlk, jmp, jhk, LAND, 5lp, 5mp, 5hk, Wall bounce, wait till the 2nd or 3rd bounce, 2lp, 5mp, 5hk, motorbike super or 214pp. Will post damage later And now back to writing that paper I should have done yesterday. -

So I learned something interesting in skull girls: with normal move gatlings, if you use an attack, and then press a direction + button for another attack, if the 2nd attack doesn't gatling from the 1st nothing comes out. However, if the attack designated to the direction of the 1st attack + the button of the 2nd attack does gatling from the 1st attack, this 3rd attack will come out instead. This lets you do things like Parasoul: . . . 5h, [2] (hold down) h, ]2[ (release down) 8hk to get: . . . 5h(1), 5h(2), hk napalm pillar. Basically, because of this mechanic, you can start charging immediately after the first 6h which gives enough time (or if it's possible to fully charge Napalm pillar during 5h(2), a wider window of opportunity) to special cancel the second 6h with napalm pillar. edit: also I've already mentioned this elsewhere, but I won't be going anywhere tomorrow, because I have family visiting. edit edit: Okay so 5h,5h, hk napalm pillar won't connect otg; I was wrong about using it after 5hk wallbounce. However, this gatling property should be applicable to something useful. -

Hmm team based. Sounds different. I liked the original Virtual On, Loved VOOT, wasn't a fan of Marz. The time I played VOOT was a few years before I got into tournament play, so I never played that at a competitive level. I played Fei-yen kn (her speedy playstyle was fun), and Bal-Bados. (Had an insane repertorie of secret moves: satelite laser, blackhole, fireworks, laser pyramid trap. . . I liked his ability to set a mine cannon or laser pod anywhere on the stage, and attack opponents from multiple directions at once.) -

It plays like Virtual On!? I fucking love VOOT! It's my favorite Dreamcast game! He said that the composer of Skullgirls is the same Guy that did the music for Symphony of the Night http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michiru_Yamane Do you also have memory problems? As the man with the poorest memory in NE GG scene, I have a very high tolerance for other peoples forgetfulness. I doubt it will be Japan exclusive. I just hope the netcode is good. -

Sorry, didn't see your post till just now. I don't feel up for getting out and about again tonight, but another day we should do this. Never played Gundam, but I'd like to try it. Many people have some sort of memory problem: Cheese has trouble with names, Fraga has trouble with genders, Vyers has trouble with everything:v: . . . -

Check out the last two pages of the Valentine thread. pulsr and Reioumu put up two versions of a huge combo that does 7465/7425 damage respectively. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbdJ_WGL1xM : Reioumu's is supposed to work against all characters anywhere on the stage, but I've yet to try it out myself. Damn straight:BA: Dude I'm the same way. I generally have no idea what day it is, if knowing so is not required for school/work. Tales, you up for a bit of SKullgirls Casuals tonight? I'm free from around 8 to 10pm. -

I figured SRK would be really into Skullgirls:?: At the expense of a decent score on my Japanese test this morning I have devised a Valentine BnB that deals just over 5100 damage (basically a tweaked version of At The Gates midscreen combo). 2.lk, 2.mk (2 hits), 2.hp, JUMP, j.mk (1 hit), j.hp, ADC, j.mp (3 hits), j.hk (2 hits), LAND then JUMP, j.lp, j.mp (2 hits), j.hk (2 hits), Land, Dash (not needed if close enough), 5.lp, 5.mp (3 hits/ not sure how many is best yet), JUMP, j.lk (1 hit), j.mp (1 hit), j.mk (2 hits), j.hk (2 hits), 236hk (very tight timing), 236KK. You get about the same amount of damage ending in j.hp, 236hk, 236KK. It's easier to connect 236hk after j.hp It's also easier to connect 236mk after a j.hk, this does less damage than either j.hk or j.hp into 236hk though. I need to test the damage for this combo with a 1 hit 2.mk. . . 2.hp whiffs after a 2-hit 2.mk unless you're really close, and if 1-hit 2.mk does more damage there's no reason to use the full attack. edit: yeah 1-hit 2.mk leads to slightly more damage. 5153 ending in j.h, 236hk, 236kk. Can't seem to connect j.hk, 236hk today. . . maybe that connection is to hard to be of use in a match. Also Fraga, the guy in the Valentines thread was wrong. It looks like in moves in combos starting from throw take fewer reps of the same move to activate the burst mechanic. You can do this whole BnB off of throw for 5300 damage -

The easiest way I've seen to confirm into launch is 2.lk, 2.mp (1hit), 2.hp. . . . Scratch that 2.lk, 2.mk, 2.hp also works, does more damage, and is easier to confirm. Need to see if it works in longer ground to air to ground combos. j.mk (1hit), j.hp, ADC, j.mk (2 hits), j.hk (2 hits) can be followed up with 236k, 236kk (super). If you hit twice with the first j.mk, the second hit of j.hk misses and you drop the combo. I see j.mp (variable less than max hits), j.2k used to carry the opponent back to the ground while keeping them in hit stun, in several longer combos. In my original combo: 2.lk, 2.mp (1hit), 2.hp, JUMP, j.mk (1hit), j.hp, ADC, j.mk (2 hits), j.hk (2 hits), 236k, 236kk (super): I saw a difference of about 500dm. Not a large difference, but I think it's best to get the most bang for your buck. edit: I heard in the Valentine thread that throw combos don't allow you to use ANY 2 attacks twice. -

Glad to see a NE thread without a street fighter reference. Welcome to Dustloop JacopeX True for the most part. Most Capcom players hate non Capcom games, and most of us don't play Capcom games (particularly new Capcom games). There might be some cross over with KOF XIII though. Finally hooked up my PS3 and messed around in training mode with pad. Valentine's combos seem challenging, mainly due to canceling all of her multi-hit normals early to lower the number of hits so the big blows strike harder. The timing for 2.mp 1 hit cancel, j.mk 1 hit cancel, j.mp 2/3 hit cancel is surprisingly tight (feels like 2 or 3 frames). Playing online with my wireless internet was pretty fail; I was surprised to see that most people were using 2-lady teams like us; I was expecting more 3-lady teams. Really don't like Parasoul's limited movement. I'm going to look into other 2nds. Took a 3 day break from Japanese. Felt amazing. Also felt extremely, dangerously lazy. -

Another valuable lesson in historical environmental philosophy brokenness courtesy of the Zoobstein. To digress, why is everything happening on Saturday? I'd like to go to both BrainBox tourney and Whysuals. grumble grumble. To digress, UMASS is randomly hosting CONQUEST gaming/nerd/anime con this weekend. Don't think I'm up for that; it's looking pretty bland. -

This Anime Boston was also the weekend of showing off R.G. Utena to people. I watched the first 2 episodes in English, then watched the 1st episode in Japanese, and compared them. (I prefer the Japanese Dub overall but English Dub Saoinji gets bonus points for being even more of a dick. He sounds like such a perfect bastard.) Anyone else interested in spending a day watching all of teh Utena? or all of Teh Trigun? We never did get around to watching Red Line together did we? -

The dealer room is where you go to buy imported Japanese stuff from freelance vendors. To get anything rare you want to be there early on Friday. The place to run GG would be the game room. They usually run multiple tournaments there, but they tend to be very disorganized. I'd be up for a tourney, we'd just have to get permission to run it from the staff (they've run GG in the past, but the last couple years there hasn't been much casual player interest in it). I'll see if we can get a TV from NoiseTank or MindGam3. so we don't get stuck with a ShitD TV Unfortunately my Friday class IS NOT CANCELED:arg: Meaning I won't be arriving till at around 1:00pm:cry: -

9 more days. So I looked up my Japanese schedule for this week, and there is nothing listed for Friday. I'm HOPING that my sensei decided to cancel class that day, because so many kids planned to skip out for AB. I'd be able to pick up my badge Thursday, and hit the dealer room mad early. -
