The NEWEST NEW ENGLAND THREAD (A FUSION OF STATES)
Vyers replied to Zoob's topic in Offline Community
I recommend you start with that Ky beginner thread, and check out some videos in the GGAC Video Posting Thread! in the Guilty Pleasures section of the forums. Practice timing for False Roman Cancels in training mode as well (if you turn on the input display a blue flash will appear in the input bar, right after the frc point.) If you have any specific questions about Ky pm me and I'll do my best to explain them. Is there really a Guilty Gear game for Xbox live arcade? The only Xbox guilty gear title I know is Guilty Gear XX # Reload for the original Xbox. Don't buy it, the games 2 versions old and the netplay is the shittiest I've dealt with for any fighter. Zoob and Why Disciple play Tekken; Max plays a little as well. None of them made it out to PWA. I don't know who else in the area plays the game. There will most likely be Arcana 3 next time -

Don't forget to pick up your badge tonight(If you preregistered). I grabbed mine in the record time of 2 minutes:) Friday lines can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 4+ hours depending on how many registration stations they have and whether you preregistered or not. Also to everyone who hasn't been to AB before. If you are at all interested in anything you might possibly find in the dealers room GET THERE AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE ON FRIDAY. The rare stuff is usually gone by Friday afternoon. :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:( Edit: Thursday Preregistration is open till 10:00pm Edit Edit: . . .And I know remember it was already past 10 at the time of edit 1 -

Eh, eheheheh. This is really flattering, but at the same time. . . This probably isn't the sort of message we should send to the new players interested in learning Gear. I mean, this isn't a tournament its a casual meet up; I'm trying to teach people how to play the game not scare them away. Anyway, I had a fun time tonight. Got to try out some TVC with Adam play some GGAC with Cheese, lasercakes, and others. Didn't play any Marvel 3, but I will next time. PWA has some really cool games: BlackTiger, Sailor Moon beat-em-up (with reversed controls), Bionic Commando, that SNK frisbee game; cool stuff Laser Cakes: Thanks for giving GGAC a try. Once again Ky's basic ground to air combo is throw/ 214k/ (I think) 6P: 5s> 2h >JC, > j.s > JC > j.s > j.h> 236h> h. combo. If you want to learn more about Ky you can check out the Ky beginner guide thread here: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?3539-Ky-Beginner-Guide I might be able to find some match vidzs for you to watch if you're interested. Tim: It looks like Nuclear Cheese uses a different dust combo from what I saw in the Sol thread: 5d > 8 (homing jump) > 41236h > land > run in 5s > 2h > JC > j.s > 41236h >. Basically connect with 5d, jump, sidewinder, land, follow up with sidewinder loop (you can probably go into the loop using 5k > 2h/ just 2h/ other ways as well. Adam: Nice meeting you. Thanks for the use of your TV and the games in TVC. Kraig: good to see you again, I'll play you in Marvel next time Lawrence: didn't realize you made it there until they turned the lights back on. Marvel next time. If you want to play GG all you need to do is ask for a turn, Cheese and I got really into it for the last 2 hours or, so I wasn't really paying attention to the people around us. xntrikcat: I'm glad you could make it down. Are you still interested in learning Dizzy? Nuclear Cheese: good games. I see I still need to work on varying my playstyle; you seemed to predict what I would do easily. I need to block AMERICA!! DUST. -

That depends on what game you're talking about. I'm pretty damn free in every game except GGAC. I should also get there around 5 so I guess I'll see you there. (I'll be the white dude in the black trenchcoat with the HRAP 1) Craig/ Tim/ everyone else who's coming: I'll see you all soon. -

I'll definitely be at PWA; I should arrive around 5:00pm. I'll be bringing my PS2 and GGAC with me. Cheese have you played Hard Corps: Uprising yet? Nazgul told me the game is a perfect cross of Guilty Gear and Contra. I hope you make out to this fight, we haven't played much lately. Max said he had a great time hanging out with you last week, I hope you had just as much fun. Also I'm trying out a writing program called yWriter5 my brother uses for his projects, that divides story's into chapters/scenes/character bios/setting info/ etc. If you're interested in checking it out here's a link: http://www.spacejock.com/yWriter.html Kona It would be cool if you can make it too. Who would you be traveling with? I'll be there to teach people some gear, and play some casual SSF4 and Marvel 3 (I'm still waiting on my converter to arrive so I havn't played much Mahvel yet). By the way what's in the area for food? -

I'll be at Anime Boston. I'm hoping to not lose my camera in the dealer room this time. I think I might actually watch some anime this time too. Zoob you should cosplay as Light_Nazgul who is also yourself, and therefore rad like that. -

Agreed. Always keep your stuff on hand, and if you let someone else use it keep a close eye on them, unless its someone you know well enough to trust. Edit: SNES rom suggestions: Illusion of Gaia, U.N Squadron/Area 88, Super Mario RPG, Act Raiser II, Y's 3, Super Mario Kart, Cybernator/ Assault Suits Valken, Phalanx, Megaman X (236 A is so broke in this game) Ouch that sucks man. On another note: What time of day is the fight night starting at PWA? -

Nice meeting you Teak (forgive me if I spelled your name wrong). I'll see if I can find you a Dizzy beginner vid, or at least some good match vids. Typically Anime Boston only has pads available. Bring your stick, and pray that they aren't too afraid of people stealing consoles to allow you to plug it in. NO. No you don't. . . -

Yep I already talked to Max and he's up for games Monday. It looks like Boston is about 1 and 1/2 hours from your place so we should arrive around 6:30. There's a bar we usually go to around 5 called the Penguin Pizza. Mondays they have a special on chicken wings. $1.50 for a plate of wings (the only catch is you have to buy a drink with it, I usually just grab a sprite cause I'm not a beer man). They're pizza's pretty good too. Would you like to check it out? Max would most likely be willing to wait for us. edit: It looks like the Penguin won't work out. I guess the place gets really crowded with a long wait by 6:30. -

The 19th is on a Tuesday which works great for me. Nuclear Cheese, Light_Nazgul, Max, and Asian Dave all typically work on Tuesdays, I'll invite them, but the chances of them making it down are not good. I really need a converter so I can practice MVC3. Does anyone have any recommendations on what type to get and where to get them? (I remember there was a thread on SRK a while ago where a guy could order lag free converters from Korea. I don't remember what kind/ the handle of the guy who was doing it/ etc) Good games last night. It was cool to see you again Tim; I'll talk to Cheese about combos/tactics/videos for Sol; I honestly don't like BlazBlu, but there are others in New England who will play it (most are waiting for CS2's release). Rich, Lawrence, Craig, It was good meeting you. Marvel was a lot of fun, both to watch and play (even though I don't have any combos yet). Craig you picked up Pot's OTG combo quite fast, you'll be fine once you get used to 632146 P input for PotBuster. David Chen, and Zoob also play Pot, If I can get them to come down to Pinball Wizard Arcade, they could show you some stuff. If you want to learn Guilty Gear I'm going down to Boston for casuals with Max, and David Chen on Monday night. (The three of us mostly play GG but, CapsuleToyco might be coming with me this time, he's big on CS). Pelham is about an hour from my place, half an hour from Nashua, an hour and 45 minutes from Lebanon, an hour from Boston, 2 hours from Vernon, 2 hours from Amherst. . . Pinball Wizard address and website: 50 Bridge Street Unit P, Pelham NH http://www.pinballwizardarcade.com/ maybe we'll end up using 2 or more places for meetups since Pinball Wizard is closer to NH and Boston Ma; Hall Of Gaming would be closer to CT, Amherst MA, NY, and NJ -
Stryfe's Uprising Part 2 results. 3/26 Vernon, CT
Vyers replied to Stryfe's topic in Tournament Results
I need to practice Marvel seriously if I'm gonna play it. totally forget everything I learned during week 1. Great job running things Stryfe! Everything ran smoothly. Nazgul: our positions seem to have been reversed. I have a great deal of trouble defeating you now. Enjoy the Mario Kart. Check out Booster Tower on the Oneup's website. Your stomach is indomitable. Why is the Skull's hit box so hard to figure out? blueNINE: Overhead Kiss Forever:vbang: I will pracice slashbacking burst and avenge my honor. Furok: I think I finally learned how to play the Robo Ky match up properly. If not I can at least take the defensive stance now. Slash back those missiles! 6P those split missiles! You can't keep me down! When I finally do write up a soba stir fry recipe I'll send it to you too; I'll try out the peanut butter banana rice. You talk way more when you're intoxicated Mindgam3: you were playing properly from the beginning this time, without your usual warm up period. Good job playing keep away when your meter was low and rushing down when you got that knock down. It's okay to Dead On Time sometimes. Thanks for having me at your place. What's your favorite Megaman (I like 3). Play Y's The Ark of Napishtim. BATTLE CHRISTIAN!:arg::!! Jam player I didn't talk to: sorry I didn't talk to you, I will play games with you sometime. Meghan: didn't play you at all . Thanks for tagging along for the blender mission. Super Mario Kart is awesome to have for a first game; we should play that sometime If I can find my SNES copy I'll bring it with a bunch of other awesome games. Fuck those jerks that killed all the booze before we got back. What was your favorite song on the One Ups Mario Kart cover album? (I like Rainbow Road, and Donut Plains). Best stick art EVER! Kona: Your Bridget has better everything now, I keep forgetting he has a srk. Thanks for the Marvel 3 advice; I usually don't pick up on spoken strategy's well unless I have a good feel for the game first, but thanks for trying to help, I'll reconsider my team composition. Thanks for coming on the blender mission. That milkshake was Awesome! wasn't it? I also really liked your stick art; I gotta finish watching Panty and Stocking. Garterbelt on Brief made me crack a rib. Paul: sorry for being an ass and slashbacking your pin. I've been obsessed with slashback lately. Your Millia has a good start, needs AD mixups and ground/poking game. Arcana looks fun, I will try to learn this game so I'm actually decent at more than one fighter. Danny: Thanks for showing me the basics in Arcana 3. It takes me a while to learn a games system/character's combos/ everything, but I will put some effort into it. Nuclear Cheese: When did you Become a Metal Dwarf (or are you a Gnome?) In either case your new look is awesome!! Sorry for doing jack for your fighter over the past year and a half or so. I would still like to be of use. Yes, we do need to hang out sometime. Your place is probably best. Zoob: Amazing double bacon musical. Tales: Seriously look into floating hit followups to the butterfly (for back dash attempts), they will be so useful if they're possible. That Bacon maple syrup Sundae was disgusting; none of these things belong together, I shuddered upon its visage. Max: good job making blueNINE sweat, and fighting Nuclear Cheese on even terms. go KY go. I don't think I can make it to the Video Game Music Orchestra's April show:(. If anyone's free on Friday check out the VGO they got Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, Chrono Chros) as a special guest: http://www.vgo-online.org/ edit: It looks like Yasunori's appearance was cancelled:(. check out the show anyway the VGO is Awesome -

by AB you mean Anime Boston? You should talk to Max (Noisetank). He goes every year and he lives in Boston. His place is very cramped though. -
Yeah I'm up for a MM, FT3 $5? Sorry I've been so elusive. :(Feel better man.
-
I'll be there. I'll bring my PS2/Guilty Gear. If people need an extra PS3 to run Arcana 3 I can bring mine (I don't have a copy of the game though). In either case I'm looking forward to trying the game MVC3 on 360 I'll have to borrow a stick from someone. Thanks for hosting another tourney Stryfe; I can give you a hand if you need more help running things. It'll be good to see everyone again, I havn't seen most of you since NEC. :(Another day, another tourney man Also did anyone else get the new pokemon? I want to trade.

Glad you're okay man Yeah we'll see how my application works out. If I end of going there I'll be right next to you and closer to just about everyone else. I'll get back to you on that when I have some extra cash. Sadly I it looks like I won't get a car till Sat/Sunday so I won't be making it out today. How's AH3? does it play any faster than 1 did (playing that game felt like playing a fighter in slow motion on the moon). Also anyone know how much money it's gonna cost to buy all the DLC characters in Marvel 3? (I've heard rumors of $40 plus.) -

Anyone who cares about watching or playing GGAC on Final Round's livestream Saturday night go here and vote: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?10903-FRXIV-Saturday-Event-GGXX-AC-or-BB-CS Cool, I'll have to check there later, they have a lot of rare stuff (no Guilty Gear: The Missing Link, when I looked though:() Parasite Eve is cool, that final boss is a bitch though, I must have fought it fifteen times before I gave up. That last save point fucked me over too (can't go back to level up. I might go to Battle Grounds next week if I have a car by then. Also, Area 88 is awesome:keke: -
Voted for GGAC; my favorite fighter, and the game that got me into tourney play. Money's tight this year so I might not make it down, but I will try to get to FR (I've made it the past two). FR always has a good turnout for GG Heidern thanks in advance for running these games once again ShinBlanka thanks for giving us the choice Ky-Sama thanks for the pm. I didn't notice this thread so I might have missed the opportunity to vote if you hadn't told me about it. I'll pass the word on.

Yo New England players, how's everyone been? I've been MIA most of winter break due to work (holiday rush), preparations for Spring semester (signing up for classes, paying for graduation, getting books), not having a car (should be getting one Monday), and looking at schools to transfer to (might go to UMASS Amherst). Classes start next week and I find myself asking: WHAT HAPPENED TO MY WINTER BREAKK Zoob I watched your Gundam Battle Assault 2 review, is there a US release for that game? It looks cool.
