  1. Actually now that you mention it, danisen is ideal for a single setup situation. Let's start a beta danisen until CSX hits so we can see how it works it. Also, we'll have 2 setups starting Sunday, I got the monitor.
  2. I'm still not convinced the new challengers tournament is a good idea. I mean we all still need practice especially those going to NEC, and not only would it stop some of the concerned people from picking their mains, but it would stop the others from facing them in the tournament as well. On another note, I finally received my second evo monitor, just in time for umvc3 and foonzo's month off. I also got all the cables, except for steb's 50ft ethernet for whatever reason (maybe they'll send it in another package? it's not on the bill for the stuff in the box I got, but it's on the bill I received by email)
  3. omg u guys, use the chat and your brains plz. out of the people who usually show up on tuesday, most have said they couldn't come so I'm just not gonna stay because I'm also behind on some schoolwork and job stuff. Anyways, anyone showing up for the ratio tournament on friday? Could make a team of 4 ratio 1 BB players lolol. However I don't like the idea of a new challengers tournament for us. I wanna compete against kirb, I feel I can take him on now, real talk. Or else we can do it anyways and I'll just MM him.
  4. Hm I was looking at some CSE videos and saw this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MB2s6Ulz6l0#t=3m45s does this mean they changed some property on 6B or 5C? (6B(2) standing CH 5C), or does this work currently? math tells me 6B's 20f hitstun, 18f recovery, no gatling, and 12f startup on 5C mean that even with the counterhit level 4 for +5f and crouching +2f, we get 9f to do something, which is 3f short of being able to combo a 5C, unless I missed something. But hey just doing this told me I don't need my opponent to be crouching to get 6B CH 2A to combo
  5. Ok here's an update of everything that made it's way to the general video thread but hasn't been linked here yet. I haven't looked at all of it yet, but keep in mind there's probably a lot of day 1/week 1 stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e03o08ITa8A#t=32s H.H vs Hima (Relius) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCp7rtdsu4c#t=36s ogarabu vs ora (Hazama) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIGRnPrO9Fc#t=4m9s 0 vs nisshi (Carl) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIGRnPrO9Fc#t=6m34s 0 vs minami (Bang) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWUM9c1CIHs#t=11m5s ma ^ shi ^ vs nisshi (Carl) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufxATugDqss#t=5s kudowafu vs ichifuku (Jin) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3v5B4JFDyCI#t=3m22s kudowafu vs okui (Jin) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4-3voavsMA#t=2s kudowafu vs garushia (Hakumen) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4-3voavsMA#t=3m38s susuki vs ??? 6. I still use 6C 5D 6[D] 5C ]6D[ 236D to get my opponent to stop jumping out, is there anything better for a situation where you're doing 5C 6C (when 6A 6C is not possible)? Also, didn't know 6C 5D IAD j.B was a safejump, I will begin using this, thanks! Tager makes me salty. I keep him out the whole game, get a giant life lead, and then make an execution error or get read, get punished, guess wrong 2 or 3 times, and die. Sadface. Although I find it hard to play that matchup sometimes because I just start feeling sorry for the Tager player.
  7. I might dodge today, got some catching up to do, we'll see how that goes.
  8. C0R I'd really like to see that list as well So far all I've got is: j.B land 6B, 2A 6B, explosion/[D] setup into 6B, 6A 6B gatling (lolol), 6B/3C/6C/SoD RC 6B, and sometimes just a raw run up 6B when you're feeling yourself. hm maybe 5C/2C RC into 6B would be sick, because people start realizing you can't go high once you start gatling C moves. But hey one thing that's kind of hard to block with Mu's mixup I think is 236D into jB jump cancel ambiguous crossup delay jB. I've been playing around with this a bit, 236D is a pretty great starter so it can be rewarding once your opponent is conditionned to not press buttons when the laser's out. and my 2c on the mu vs makoto overhead, the thing that's annoying with mu is that once your overhead is blocked your pressure is over unless you're going to spend meter, were using a setup, or take a big risk. Makoto on the other hand can stagger you into the same situation where the person defending has to take a risk to get out.
  9. GGs last night, hadn't played BB in a while, felt good. Somehow not playing the game over a period of time made me play better, and less salty overall, thanks LoL. Probably the first time I played Nini and thought the matchups were almost even, or maybe you were just going easy on me... Also Bibi, you got better, gratz, but practice your spacing on 2A and press less buttons overall, I shouldn't be able to rush you down like that. Every press has its meaning, and don't always press buttons just because you're in range, sometimes you're not at the advantage and I know it, though the only way to improve at that is to play more, so keep playing! oh my god blade
  10. I haven't heard anyone besides the MvC3 crew saying they were going. I think Brice is interested, but I dunno about anyone else.
  11. As of right now I don't feel like going to Ottawa this weekend, but maybe I'll change my mind after attending this week's meetups. Ottawa isn't that far, but at the same time I pretty much only play BB competitively and yeah... Nolan, where will the sophistication go? sadface In theory I should be there tonight, after I finish my lab report.
  12. It's midterms, but I think it's over now so people should start showing up again, especially those who want practice for NEC. I should start coming back to meetups regularly as of tomorrow as well, after I finish my lab report. We also gotta communicate a bit more as St-bruno-bros, Rhannmah. Finally, I just ordered a second Evo Monitor for myself, but I will leave it at foonzo for a while (until they get some which I hope they'll do eventually), so we can have more setups for our meetups. I'll talk to the owners this week to see if we can have an arrangement, but it isn't the first time we'll talk about it.
  13. Naw, don't go, a lot of us play marvel anyways. The amount of activity on our thread has gone down by a lot since Sankishin, so it's not really a problem anymore. As long as people don't start chatting, like the vampniggas. That said, I'm still hype for dr strange, and that log might be the assist I was looking for we'll see how it turns out.
  14. yes, depending on the difference between the JP and NA release dates, we were going to likely going to order a bunch as a group.
  15. I might go after we finish the group study if I think I'm ready enough and Rhannmah went . I'll call brice or someone else. So if I show up it'll be between 7-9 PM, without a stick nor game. About the poster, it might be a good idea to think about the text, and how we want the layout of the whole thing, including it's size. It might give a better perspective, because the art isn't the only important thing concerning this.
  16. Nini, I honestly think that was pretty rude and immature. Put yourself in the other person's shoes. I don't think you guys should encourage this. Personally, when I troll, I only do it to people I know, because I can usually gauge how far I can go. Hope I don't sound like a... parent
  17. If I get stuck in the corner, in some matchups, like ragna or rachel where they keep you there with moves that are out of DP range like dead spike or lobelia, neutral jumping and then airdashing out if they whiff something is a good way to escape. Just don't hold up-back, there's a risk involved in jumping out, so pick your opportunity correctly.
  18. I don't think I'll come tomorrow. My exam on Monday is in the morning, so I wouldn't want to arrive late or lack sleep, I also still have some studying to do. I only watched loser's finals and grand finals of the curleh mustache stream, I guess the hype had died down at that point. At least best of 7 with a bracket reset is super fast in that game 3 weeks until ultimate. Also, read brice's post plz.
  19. Started playing Mu and trying to get competitive around September 2010, BB:CT was the first FG I played ever, and it was only casually. I'd say I only started becoming decent about a month and a half ago. However each time I find that I'm decent, several months later I think back and realize I really wasn't that good. I slowly got better over time, but I really started to improve over this summer, because we went to a few tournaments and I trained hard for them. I think that's one of the best ways to improve, travelling to a tournament. Not only are you going to prepare yourself for it, but you'll also play a lot of matches (mostly casuals) that will be intense because you want to show the people you meet what you're capable of. If someone happens to play your character you can also learn a lot from watching them or talking to them, and yes watching stuff live is different than seeing it in videos. Next tournament I'm preparing for is NEC, maybe I'll see some other Mu players there? (although preparing isn't very precise, I've been doing mostly studying and league of legends lately )
  20. There's usually enough people for a meetup anyways. It'll probably be decided Sunday morning as usual, but either way, Foonzo will be open, it's not the HQ :P Stop being so... pessimistic(?), Blade.
  21. I haven't been playing a lot nor keeping myself up to date lately, but I hope this advice is still good, Lythium awesome girl. for blockstrings try to integrate canceling 5C, 6C, and 3C into 236A/236D, don't get too predictable, but it allows you to have better pressure. don't be afraid to use meter when you're full and one mixup will take it, ex: blockstring 2B 5B 6B SoD RC 6B etc. don't forget to use gold burst. if a corner combo won't kill you, the risk of not green bursting their combo but instead gold bursting their oki to put them into the corner instead is often worth the reward. gives you a meterless 3k combo as a bonus. 3C RC combos and 6C RC combos, they're good, use them. less j.C jump in, it's a bad habit. less stein cancel into stein, it's only good if they somehow decide to stay fullscreen, use stein cancel into either jump or 236A instead. Those two steins may be out, but they aren't going to do much if you jump back and block right away. use instant air backdash j.236A at neutral, it's hard to punish and it allows you to set the pace. One thing I like doing at neutral is 6D IAD back j.236A (if blocked) 236D -> mixup. Really good against ragna for example, but terrible against haz. use super jump more against tager when he has spark, it's a good bait. also, one thing at a time when he has spark bolt, but always be doing something, whether it's just moving backwards, empty jump, whatever, show him the odds are against him that you'll block the spark. Use more 2B and learn to space it well, it's especially good against tager as it beats sledge without the recovery of 5C Against hazama I like to use the laser super when he's in the air and about to use chains. It's a gimmick, but it gets him to be more careful and it's pretty safe. Don't use it if he's on the ground though. In corner ...6C SoD... combos I personnally never place a stein between these two moves, it has too often broken my combo, but maybe that's just me. learn a better corner throw combo (unless it's just platinum's hitbox, haven't tested on it a lot but I know it's weird). ...5C 5D 6C dash6D 214D LEARN IT OMG BEST SETUP EVAR. seriously though, it's simple, deadly, and it gets your opponents to respect your setups, leads to huge damage in the corner iirc. 2A THROW DO EEET. Also, 2A6B, and 2B throw. simple mixup is sometimes the best. If your opponent starts blocking your ...5B 6B... overheads, use 6A 6B, it also gatlings and can catch them off guard. Use counter assaults more, really good to get out of corner blockstrings. I don't think I saw you in many situations where it would have been great, but I don't think I saw you use it at all either. (unless maybe one that came out as a 6B)
  22. I'll also be dodging for a while. I have an exam Wednesday, an assignment for Friday, an exam next Monday, a lab report for next Wednesday, and another midterm the following Friday (notice how it's always right after a meetup day). If only I was able to study before the last evening... Hopefully I'll find some time and remember to go into training mode so the rust doesn't stack up too much.
  23. Can't make it, I also have to study for my exams, sorry. Well actually no, studying isn't what I'm doing, I have to learn the stuff because I wasn't really paying attention in class.
  24. I usually check about once a week. However this time there was a bug, I didn't receive a notification letting me know there was a comment posted, I can't go check every video all the time :/ The comment was by the french haz player, he posted here as well so no worries. come to mtl some time, I'm pretty sure it's really easy by bus, and I'm also pretty sure someone wouldn't mind letting stay at their place. next major should be in early January.
  25. I was a bit outside the camera, next to brice and nolan, dont think you can see me at all. :/ Can't make it to trois-rivieres on saturday, I shouldn't keep putting off my studying.
