I was leaning more towards story-tiers than actual gameplay ones. But gameplay-wise, Teddie DID have an edge over Lizzie in P4A. However, I don't ever remember it being THIS bad. I mean, it's a battle between two gimmicky characters, just that the furball's options aren't flushed down the drain whenever Kintoki-Douji gets broken. Then again, almost nobody used Teddie in P4A so maybe just not enough was ever recorded. That said, Teddie is like BB's own Hazama as far as characters go. He annoys me both personality-wise and how he plays. I'd rather play a 1000 P4A Lizzie vs. Mitsuru matches, than having to listen to Teddie for one second longer. Are you sure it was the SB version? SB Mabufudyne is supposed to teleport to your opponent's location and I didn't see it do that. It might have been the Un-Awakened version, which IIRC, is still pretty terrible. And that is something which has been bugging me for a while. I get what ASW tried to do by giving Lizzie distinct features/advantages between Un-Awakened and Awakened states. Though it helped define her gameplay style, it also had the adverse effect of making her not as good until she reaches that point. Sure, Mind Charge makes it a cinch to enter that state, but it is a very risky gamble with severe consequences if your defensive game is not up to snuff. Finding the right time to do it is crucial but unfortunately, the right time to do it can still backfire.

As happy as I am to see more JPN Lizzie players, I must confess that I am furious that Teddie of all characters is giving her trouble. It just feels wrong on so many levels that a powerhouse like Lizzie is being beaten by a failure Shadow. It's like seeing a 600 meter tall colossus being beaten by a single fire ant, that's how ridiculous it looks to me. But enough of personal raging, let's talk gameplay. Same here. It actually looks like a legit blockstring. Surprisingly effective too considering Lizzie was able to close in after keeping the Teddie locked for a bit, despite her own sluggish movement speed. I didn't notice the dash cancel in action (maybe due to the video quality), but given people's reaction, it seems like 5C>66>5B is a legit threat that the Teddie didn't want to risk. That's another thing. Lizzie gets very nifty bonuses in Awakening. But doing so when you don't have the opponent locked down seems to be ill-advised. I'd have at least made sure the opponent was Shocked with SB Maziodyne, Mind Charge then SB Diarahan. At least that way, you can prevent a projectile counter since SB Diarahan is immune to them. Especially so if you've blowing through 60% health. Personal observations: -Oh Philemon, that (A)Maziodyne and (B)Mabufudyne recovery, along with that 5D range . Looked like it took forever to have Thanny come back and 5D looked slllloooooowwwww. But I like the tracking that 5C does. Kept Teddie locked with 2C>5C despite being pretty close to him.

About the Life Link and killing Ragna despite of it. I am willing to bet that because Nu-13 wasn't, technically, there (Lamb-chops was) then the Life Link was not in effect for him. Or if you want to argue since Lamb-chops had Nu-13's soul, then recall that she was stricken with a serious case of "stabbed in the back to death" courtesy of Hazama which would mean that is the Life Link was there, it was out of commission at the time. Haku-men can definitely kill Ragna since the latter's victory quote against him is remarking on how his wound's won't stop bleeding out, likely the effect of the Nox Nyctores: Ookami negating his Ars and (potentially) the Life Link. Don't know about Time Killer but it is a possibility that it could work, though Haks would need to attempt it on him and sadly, nobody seems to know where Rags has gone off to. Power of Order is another thing. Since it allows for phenomenon negation depending on the user's willpower, I would like to say that yes: either Jin or Haks can kill Ragna with it. Tsubaki can also apparently kill him since Rachel tasked her with the deed, but Immortal Breaker was designed for Observers and Ragna isn't one (that we know of at least). Unless it has more uses than that. -
Oh don't get me wrong; I acknowledge that they tidied it up and gave it some polish. But that's only the surface. The core problems of poor storytelling and mishandling of the source material are still present. Maybe it sounds like I am harsher than most, but remember that people like me who are not living in Japan have very little effect on the product so I figure I might as well point out everything I felt the studio did wrong. That isn't to say I do it out of sheer malice. I do it because I like critiquing and I genuinely think there's potential in this provided some necessary steps are taken.

Probably because, as Narroo mentioned, whereas before we had a bad animation with bad writing and didn't have to take it seriously, now we have decent animation but the bad writing did not get fixed, so the effect is more jarring. To give you an analogy, imagine 2 clowns throwing a bucket of shit at you. The first clown is just throwing turd after turd. So you know what you're in for and can even laugh a few times at the antics. The second clown though is still throwing shit except he now takes time to shape each turd into the image of the Mona Lisa and sprinkle some perfume on it. It might look nicer but at the end of the day it doesn't change the fact that he's still throwing shit at you.

I'm willing to bet we will be getting it region locked if only because the first game was like that. Plus Play-Asia has a tendency to call things right (like how they claimed March 25th was the BBCP release date and it was later proven true). Sadly this likely means EU gets to wait again for its own version unless either Zen United get right on the ball from the get go or ATLUS/ASW publish it themselves in the region. Though some delays are inevitable due to the EU region needing several language translations and ATLUS have been bought by SEGA but still, 9 months should not be your "best attempt". Then again, maybe SEGA can get involved in the publishing to make it easier. EU players still like SEGA right? Or at least, not outright hate their guts?

If this turns out to be Takaya I will be most displeased. I thought I was done with Tattoo Revolver Jesus after I trounced him back in P3 and I'd like to keep it that way. Unless this is someone completely new that the Shadow Operatives encountered after the events of the Answer. -
Oh. Yeah that would be a bit of a problem. I know I have had varying degrees of nonsense when playing Shadow Labrys and kept getting her 214C/D whenever I wanted to do Titanomachia or getting 214A/B whenever I wanted Brutal Drive in P4A so I am glad this Lizzie stuff was fixed. Ohhhhhh, so THAT'S what that bar was that appeared from time to time in certain match videos. Yeah, I thought it was weird to see it happening but didn't pay it much thought. Though after readng the explanation, I am not sure I like how much it reminds me of SFxT's own charge mechanic, but eh considering I've seen almost nobody actually utilize it, I guess it really isn't all that impressive.

First I've heard of this. At first I thought you meant the auto combos, but those require presses, not holding to initiate. Could you elaborate more or point me to an example, please? I'm rather curious. Well, Shadow-types generally had much higher SP gain when attacking compared to their originals so they were good in that department. They also retained whatever SP they didn't spend between rounds. Sadly, the 20% less damage (outside of Shadow Rampage), no Burst and no Awakening kept them from being a real threat. This new buff though takes them up a notch. Gaining meter from absolutely anything, coupled with retaining their meter means that even upon a round defeat, you could be facing a Shadow opponent with 100SP right off in Round 2. Not before someone makes a Lizzie SB Mamudoon ToD comb...oh wait, I forgot: nobody wants to use Lizzie in good ol'Nihon. Right, carry on .

[CSE-CP] Jin Questions and Answers Thread - How Do I Shot Ice?
Luminos564 replied to Moy_X7's topic in Jin Kisaragi
TK stands for "Tiger Knee". It generally refers to doing an aerial (or aerial version) of your move from the ground. This is done by inputting the notation on the ground then immediately pressing "8" (or "up") to get the move to come out. In Jin's case that you mentioned, you would do the 236 (quarter-circle forward) or 214 (quarter-circle back) on the ground then immediately hit 8 (or 7 or 9) for Ice Blades and Hizangeki respectively. -
"S-hold system"? What does this mean? Dude, that's an insanely good buff for them. This mean they can gain that 100SP for Shadow Rampage or even Awakened skills much quicker and much more often. It might not outright make up for their lack of Awakening but considering the damage potential of some Shadow-types, I foresee at least a small increase in their popularity. What does this mean? I doubt this means the input has changed from the [6]4 motion, so does that mean there was an issue with B/SB Randomizer inputs before?

Sounds crazy but you may have a point. Well I am mostly drawing on the fact that since Personas are Shadows, they have the potential for various things. Ryoji was a Shadow whose role was to be the harbinger of the Fall yet was able to act and develop his own desire (though ultimately could not fight his destined fate) because he interacted with the P3MC. In turn, P3MC was able to draw out on his powers to expend his own. Likewise, Teddie is a Shadow that ultimately gained much higher sentience to the point of becoming no different from an actual human being. I figure that if these two examples of Shadows exists, why not a sentient and antagonistic Persona? It'd certainly explain why it wants to create others like it (you know, the whole recruiting powerful Shadows from the cast for its own plans). -

Huh, so Labrys is still very much the heart of the matter in this current dilemma. Poor mecha-girl. At least this time she's got some buddies to watch her back. Now, all this talk over the "Malevolent Entity" got me thinking (note: mostly a theory of mine). -

Maybe he's receiving more and more strength from the Power of Order now that we know Haku-men is slowly being erased from the current timeline? Or maybe Jin's powers are simply growing a lot faster to counteract Ragna's own? He is supposed to be the Anti-body, the Order to his Chaos, but his body may not be able to handle the increase at such a rapid pace. -
[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
Luminos564 replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
I...really hope they just stick with alternate palettes. This is just me talking bias, but SF4's designs left me, to put it mildly, unimpressed. Almost everything about them felt/looked off and the inclusion of alternate costumes did not mask the feeling at all. And I dunno about you, but I've never looked at a GG character like say Sol and thought "Yeah Sol's cool and all but you know what he's missing? A cowboy hat and a hunting rifle strapped to his back". Or how visually more stimulating Potempkin would be if one of his alternate costumes depicted him as a Baywatch lifeguard with a tiny rubber ducky on his shoulders. -

Luminos564 replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
Well I did say that an Xbox One was a "maybe" as opposed to a "sure thing". There are other potential concerns I have not mentioned, like say, the console's current standing on the Japanese market. Since I don't have that data information, I cannot make claims but if the 360 situation is an indicator, the worse the Xbox One is doing, the lower the chances are for Xrd to be ported to it. -

Luminos564 replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
Xbox One? Maybe. Xrd is gonna be on the PS4. I see no financial or otherwise unsavory situations if ASW decided to put the game on that console as well. Xbox 360? Not a chance. Sad as it may be, 360 is nowhere to be seen anymore in Japan. It really didn't do well and ASW cannot exactly afford to be throwing money away. I wouldn't call it them giving the middle finger to their Xbro fans, but more like their hands are tied with a bad situation. -
And wouldn't you know it, more recent vids are seeing her back in action. Still less than in P4A but that hasn't changed how much fun it is to watch Chie play now. Maybe pick her up though Lizzie shall always remain as my favorite unless ATLUS and ASW deem it fit to make the proposed "Mystery Story Character" Makoto Yuuki (P3MC). Call it bias or something, but I always personally identified more with him than I did with Yu during the course of their respective games.

Chrono Phantasma Speculations/Theories [rules updated 10/14]
Luminos564 replied to Chaoschao222's topic in Zepp Museum
Speaking of Cauldrons, didn't he mention at one point that the method by which a Black Beast is created was invented by Nine? It makes sense since the Nox Nyctores are powered by a mini-BB and we've been shown in Extend's story that Kokonoe is capable of making one herself, which resulted in powering Ignis and re-powering Nirvana. But then, why all this complicated business with fusing Murakumo and Azures? If it's size then look no further than Take-Mikazuchi who is plenty huge and he's powered by a mini-BB. -

Luminos564 replied to Chaoschao222's topic in Zepp Museum
Except in CP, Nu-13 (after she synchronized with Noel and later was absorbed by Take-Mikazuchi) revealed that one of Noel's own memories (one she herself suppressed mind you) is of her refusal to merge with Hazama/Terumi because he "hurt her family". Nu-13 directly stated that he wanted to become a Black Beast during the dialogue. You know, that IS a good question. It isn't Terumi or anything since he hated having to deal with the thing. It certainly wasn't Rachel or Kokonoe (Sector 7). And it definitely wouldn't be someone like Haku-men or Jubei. So that only leaves either Izanami herself or some other side is at work. -
Because everyone else is too busy with characters like Yu and Aigis? Barring that, maybe he isn't all that good a character despite his mechanic? Remember, the game is relatively new and the JPN players are still busy fighting for their shiny yens so tutorials will need to wait. Especially for new characters. I haven't seen a Yukari tutorial myself and she's as popular (if not more so) than Junpei.
