I'm more disappointed that Sho and SHO take up a separate slot on the roster. While I am not dissatisfied that they exist (SHO's looking pretty damn fun), I feel like ASW could have just had them selected like the Shadow versions, being interchangeable on the same spot. It'd certainly free up a spot for at least one additional character since I'd love to see the roster grow a bit more. Though then again, Shabrys takes up a separate slot from Labrys since Labrys has a Shadow version too so making all 3 in one slot would be a little cluttered.

Well I wasn't arguing which was better. Rather that SHO's ability to attack reminds me more of Izayoi, though I guess upon reflection, SHO's teleport has more in common with Arakune, visually at least. Agreed. Guess we will have to wait until someone breaks it down piece by piece on the 19th.

[Xrd] News & (Theoretical) Gameplay Discussion
Luminos564 replied to Shinjin's topic in Guilty Gear General
Ah alright, gotcha chief. And you said the creature that is summoned during Bedman's super was unblockable? Yeah I can see how that would be bad and easy to land since it always seems to be summoned from behind the opponent. Wow. So does that make IKs semi-practical or is Bedman that got the sweet pass that makes it seem a lot more OP than it should be? And of course, thanks for all the info. -

But then, even if it cost 100% Tension instead of 50%, the super is still incredibly good, yeah? Get hit by it at any point once Bedman has 100% tension (which isn't that hard to get), he activates IK and GGs. -

Would that help though? IIRC, activating IKs has never needed meter. All having meter when turning your Tension gauge into the IK gauge did was add more time for you to input the IK and once it ran out, you just lost health to compensate and could still activate the IK. -
Yeah, I can see doing something like Counter Super>HP/SP Drain since, unless you're swinging the swords, the opponent doesn't have much of an indicator of what you're doing. That said, landing that Counter Super seems much easier said than done. BTW, I get an Izayoi vibe from SHO, what with how he can utilize his teleports to extend his combos. Granted Sho has the closer, ground "dashes" but SHO can actually use them for air combos. Yeah, activating it doesn't seem to be easy at all. Either it is something like 1F super or it seems to only trigger against overhead/high attacks (both times, the opponent had to be in the air performing their attack).

Excuse, I seem to be missing my sides. They kinda flew off after I was reduced down to a maniacal, laughing fit . Really good job to all involved. -

And with this, my hype levels increase from "OMG can't wait" to "I NEED THIS GAME IN MY VEINS". Thanks for the description. Has there been any other IKs pulled off perchance? -
Oh lawl, so much fun to be had in this episode's gallery. -He who smelt it, dealt it Ragna-kun. -And people wonder why nobody takes Litchi seriously. -How is that edge not collapsing under Tager's weight again? -Behold Ragna's amazing ability to sharpen and enlarge his chin! -Why does Tager's mouth look like he's eating a giant Mars bar? -In her spare time, Tsubaki roleplays as a banchou. -There's a suggestive joke in here but I just don't see it. -Sometimes, jokes just write themselves.

Chrono Phantasma Speculations/Theories [rules updated 10/14]

Truth of the matter, the Life Link is really not explained all that well despite being connected to one of the central characters. Although I doubt that it could negate Ragna's "natural death" for instance. If you recall, despite having a Life Link too, Hazama needed some time to recover after Relius tore him up with Ignis. Now imagine what happens when Ragna dies from his natural death like Rachel mentioned, keeping that "evil" he has locked within in mind. Suddenly you got a real powerful monster that is potentially immortal. -
I'd say that's more or less accurate...provided the opponent isn't hitting you during the "Persona Break cooldown" (that wait period when the cards are broken before they begin to recharge). Here Yukari got hers broken at the 27 timer and she didn't recover it until the 15~16 mark, despite having 4 cards which would likely have lasted ~9 in-game-seconds. Either Yu comboing Yukari during that wait period extended the duration of Persona Break or some other circumstance is at work.

Platinum doesn't. Or more specifically, Luna doesn't (the little brat). It's Sena who is stuck with her and we already know about Trinity. Terumi and Relius don't have all that bad a life but they're villains so I dunno if you wanna count them. You could also argue the point that Valkenhayn doesn't since he's very happy being the butler to the Alucard family. EDIT: Also Amane. That man is LOVING the shit outta his life.

It's not a matter of being cynical though. We have good evidence to suggest that the Yayoi family is, at the least, messed up: -They resorted to inbreeding to preserve "blood-purity" and keep producing NOL soldiers with strong Ars Magus capabilities. -They keep the other Duodecim families in line. -They teach their children (as evidenced by Tsubaki) that NOL/Imperator is absolute without taking circumstances into consideration. -As evidenced by the Kisaragi family, there is a LOT of pressure to succeed for a family member. Now imagine the kind of pressure was placed on Tsubaki who is not only from a prestigious Duodecim family with a lot of expectations, but is also the first child to survive past a certain age for her parents. Yeah, not a very pleasant thought.
-
Hey man, you never know. I once contemplated suicide because my sister took the last big chocolate chip cookie that my mother made (they were that good ). Plus as others pointed out, Tsubaki's family isn't the friendliest of the bunch. Probably super zealous towards the NOL/Imperato's word being the final doctrine. I'm not all that certain they wouldn't have wrung her neck if she turned traitor or failed spectacularly.
-
She likes period piece dramas. If she didn't exaggerate like Christopher Walken and Jeremy Irons taking kabuki classes, then she wouldn't be considered a fan of the over-dramatic. Plus I can kinda see her point: -Sent to kill two very important people to her. -Both friends turn out to really not like the sense of justice and servitude she was drilled into following. -The person whom she does hold particular feelings for turns her world upside down despite her pleas. Yeah I'd wanna vent my frustrations somewhere down the line too.

Chrono Phantasma Speculations/Theories [rules updated 10/14]

To be 100% accurate, it was Jubei who told Ragna that Jin has the potential for it and Ragna simply used it to get little Jinjin to man up a bit. Of course, I questioned the reasons Jubei had to actually TRAIN Jin to become stronger until CP where Beast!Ragna simply thrashed him and Noel at once. Huh, so Izanami is aware of who/what Izanagi is but of course, in typical BB fashion we need to wait for BB4 to get an answer for it. Though, if she is using the words "create" then chances are Izanagi is very likely a person who was created through artificial means, which would sorta narrow it down to Ragna since he fits that part like a glove. Then again, there was that comment from Clavis way back stating that the "original unit" came from the Alucard family. He could also have been talking about Izanagi in that sense since it was from Izanagi that Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi and Susano-O were born based on the myths. -
For those who have not seen it in a clear image, here is PerShona's Tsukiyomi in action. And for those excited for Bropei, here he is with the glasses on.

Chrono Phantasma Story Discussion [fun tentatively allowed again]
Luminos564 replied to Chaoschao222's topic in Zepp Museum
Well that explains why Rachel can remember every last 100-year loop. So when they say "different future" it simply means that their original one has been replaced with the current one, right? Like how originally, Noel was to die from the Take-Mikazuchi blast but is currently alive in this time thus overriding her "initial scripted fate". -
Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold Story Thread (spoilers)

. One of the best news I've heard all week. How involved is she with the rest of the cast? Or is she merely guiding the Wild Card holders like Aigis and Yu? -

But I can't chill man, my avatar is always ON FIRE ! Well that's a given. Though I'd be kinda sad went it is patched out since it is rather hilarious to watch. But back to the matter at hand. So it turns out JD can grab a frozen opponent. That's actually pretty damn spectacular. Especially at that range. The damage on most of these is also pretty damn good. Granted it is lower than P4A (especially that last one with SB Ghastly Wail) but then again, we all knew that most of the cast (sans Yu and Aigis) took a hit in damage. They also look a bit easier to pull off though looks can be deceiving.

Well the Lizzie player did it twice to Sho. The first time around, Thanny would have sent him to the corner but they didn't follow up with anything then (or maybe they couldn't). The second time they did it, Thanny would have thrown them away to the other side so the player opted to do JB>JA>JB>JC just as the Sho was launched. Thing is though, the Sho was already under the Fear status so wouldn't the JD have simply caused him to wallbounce anyway? They might have been able to do 5B>Stuff for more damage though I can also understand the need to keep them in the corner. Yeah same. It's only been 3~4 days now so things are still early. Lizzie not being all that popular in P4A and lacking a training mode in the arcade version is also likely slowing down experimentation.

Chrono Phantasma Story Discussion [fun tentatively allowed again]
Luminos564 replied to Chaoschao222's topic in Zepp Museum
So can someone explain to me if possible about the difference between the two types of "Chronophantasma"? I understand that the current Celica is the first type, entities that are not supposed to exist in the current present since she is a copy and the genuine article has long since died. But Rachel is the second type, people that "are supposed to have a different future" but am having difficulty understanding what this would mean for her. -
So I had the opportunity to see just how long does Persona Break last for Lizzie. Starts right here. From what I can tell, it lasts ~12 seconds on the timer (14 seconds of the actual video). It is a definite increase in wait time, especially since nobody starts recharging their Persona cards right away. I'm willing to wager that against characters like Mitsuru, Aigis or Yu losing Thanny is a virtual death sentence, though it wasn't too bad in this match. Wait what? Low damage? I don't think ASW understand the concept of a glass-cannon. They're supposed to deal high damage, with low health as a detriment. Not deal low damage and not be able to take more than 2 combos to die. I hope someone figures out how to make her damage much higher since it really hurts not seeing her hit 3K. Although, I saw the same Lizzie in the video do 2AB>Garu>JD so maybe that's a useful set-up since it immediately brings you and the opponent down for you to do more stuff to them. Not much damage though (~1800).

In theory yes, but you have to look at the other side of the coin as well. At 6 cards you have a lot more chances than most to utilize Thanny and as long as you don't do outright dumb stuff like throwing naked 5Cs or charging 2C point blank, then he should last you a lot longer this time. Granted, it IS very dangerous to lose him, but at least this time we have means to defend ourselves somewhat without having to resort to our really poor Furious Action. Also, case in point: I feel that the bolded part is especially imperative to Lizzie, since the dash cancel allows us both to apply safer pressure with Thanny since, IIRC, he disappears when you dash cancel 5C. It will likely take some time, but I certainly think that Lizzie has much more to offer this time around. I look forward to the day when a Lizzie player brings out all she can do XD.
