Honestly for Xrd I feel like those three are the only ones that are truly difficult to pick up for the first time, MAYBE Ramlethal as far as the initial barrier goes, god knows how many less experienced people looked at her weird Tekken chain system and noped out of there before they could even get used to her.

I'm going to agree with Magaki on learning a separate character, although I don't know which ones are viable picks against Elph. Bedman is not widely played enough that people even know anti-Elph tech for him, even in Japan. Doesn't mean drop Bedman but I don't see this going well for us. As he said, even if we're a million times better than the Elph player (unlikely considering how widely played she is) we're still going to be working harder anyway so where's the sense in that? I guess you have to weigh how much it means to you. Since I don't want this thread to be nothing but complaining about a bad matchup, let's add some things I thought would be common knowledge but I don't want people reading to be potentially left in the dark. Task A' does indeed wiff on crouching Elph. I don't know why it does, but it does. You also probably don't want to use it in corner dust combos I'm not sure if 1.1 changes did anything about this, but if you teledash through one of her normals she can cancel to Bridal Express to get out of punish range depending on the timing and spacing. You might be able to chase by throwing a Task A or using 3HS but this is theory fighter on my part and I haven't tested it much at all. As Magaki said sniper rifle actually does things against us. I'm not sure if you can 2HS/3HS on reaction to hit her out of it but I don't like doing that move without Task A to cover it.

http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php/topic/9934-elphelt-vs-bedman/#entry915103 Let's analyze this for a second. It looks like a lot of this is elephant in the room (or should I say Elphelt in the room) stuff that a lot of us knew subconsciously but didn't want to acknowledge. It's time to face it guys, this matchup is ass, genuinely ass. We're going to have to bust our balls for this one but...how? What are we to do? Bedman got some great buffs in 1.1, but none of them really help him contend with her. I mean, it's true that against most Elph we're probably home free once we get her on defensive, but we have to get through her ridiculous neutral and if she wins that (which she likely will) we have to risk dealing with her even worse offense. So what are we to do? I feel like a lot of times you have to fight the player rather than the character, because no two players have the same weaknesses, but that just leads me to another problem, she has a huge toolkit that lends itself well to a lot of different play styles. I personally feel like Xrd is a game where any matchup can be overcome, including this one, but how? What answers do you propose to her common threats?

Need help with j.D IOH RC combos. What route should I be using? What point should I RC on the j.D? Is anything about it character specific?

Is Ramlethal the new Dizzy? Dizzy vs Ramlethal
Poultrygeist replied to TheLaughingJackal's topic in Guilty Gear General
YRC alone is probably going to do crazy things for her. However the blitz change from 1.1...I could see that biting her in the ass if the player isn't careful though. -
Not sure if this has been answered already or not, but does our new route work off a 6P anti air? For example 6P c.S j.SPS (or PPS or whatever is appropriate) j.236HS etc. It seems like it would work but (tested on Sol) dummy seems to fall out of it so I'm not sure if I'm dropping it or if it's not a thing.

Is Ramlethal the new Dizzy? Dizzy vs Ramlethal
Poultrygeist replied to TheLaughingJackal's topic in Guilty Gear General
I mean, most of the Dizzy players I know did move to Ram for Xrd, but I don't think they explicitly made her with the intent of being Dizzy 2.0. -
Is Ramlethal the new Dizzy? Dizzy vs Ramlethal

Honestly, I feel like comparing the two is like comparing Axl to Faust just because they both have long weapons and are goofballs in story. It's there but only on the surface. -
Is Ramlethal the new Dizzy? Dizzy vs Ramlethal
Poultrygeist replied to TheLaughingJackal's topic in Guilty Gear General
Yeah, no. That's complete bullshit. If you seriously think there aren't players (and a lot of them at that) that are character specialties instead of just picking whoever the hell they feel like, especially in a tournament setting...then I can't imagine you are very knowledgable about fighting games. It's been forever since I've been to any kind of tournament but I still focus almost exclusively on Bedman because I want to overcome the problems I have with him. As for Ramlethal I think she has a bit of Dizzy in her but only on a basic level. Dizzy's basic gameplan is not exclusive to her nor was she the first to do it, and I'd say Ram does it differently enough that they aren't very similar beyond the surface. An example would be that Ram can place her swords and spawn them whenever, as well as the stance system that alters what normals she has, her weird Tekken/MK-esque string system, et cetera. In my opinion she's a lot more...I don't want to use the word gimmicky, but she's less traditional I guess than Dizzy is. -
I think it would be beneficial if we added a section on safejumps to the wiki. The wiki is sorely lacking in non-combo Bedman information, including stuff we've covered in this thread. Plus I've been on break from GG lately so I need to re-prime myself anyway.

So assuming I haven't missed anything let's talk about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sB-RxmodobM Is it viable? Well, I guess it's as viable as anything else you can do off corner dust, maybe? I can't tell. If you're crazy enough to try it I think the input is Corner 5D 6P c.S 6P c.S 236K 6P c.S 2S 2HS 2369S 214K 2K 5HS 2D 632146S (DVTB teleport triggers) 2P 5HS 883P 2K 5HS 214S (Hemijack hits) and then loop again from 5D. It's training mode so I can't tell very well but it looks like it might be able to rebuild the meter as long as you have 50 to get it started. What do you think? EDIT: I'm a moron. blazblue BlazBlue: Central Fiction [RIP PROGRESS]
Poultrygeist replied to SirRouzel's topic in Zepp Museum
Great stuff. Looking forward to seeing the story portraits. -
You shouldn't ever be doing random Task B to begin with. There's nothing wrong with having your pokes blocked. If Pot blocking is preventing you from opening him up, you need to see how your opponent favors blocking and what they have trouble with. If they downback you to death, try an overhead. If they never block low, do a low with 2D ender and set up. If all else fails you can try a throw or try to bait them into doing something dumb.
-
I did, but I'm still hungry for more! I feel I only understand a fraction of the bigger picture and I'm not satisfied with my meager understanding. What can I, as a player, do to make myself understand better? Holy hell that's a lot of uses of the word understand.
-
This is what I assumed. Lately I've put most of my emphasis on trying to block and be patient defensively so I'm very interested in reading about the building blocks of good offense since I'm probably not going to win games by not hitting people.
-
Do you have an ask.fm account or something like that? If you'd like to take questions that might be more reliable, then again this thread getting an increased volume in questions wouldn't exactly hurt its on-topicness any more than what it usually sees.

Remember the good ol days of pre-CP BB where you had to mash to tech and all it took was one poorly timed tech attempt to eat a CH? "Fun" stuff.

I would just like to say that there is a very real difference between putting someone on a pedastal and treating the word of someone more experienced than yourself with respect and an open mind. It would be the former if SKD was someone who was known as a community celebrity but didn't consistently perform well, but he's not. It's not like he's Mike Ross or something :U (no disrespect to the man but it is what it is). And Dreiko IMO your example with LK and the Japanese player only supports that. Not even trying to kiss ass here, because I assume most of us are here either because we want to learn or we want to stop losing to dumb shit. EDIT: Let me clarify a bit. If I'm in training to be a mechanic, and someone who's been working on cars as a living for a long period of time gives me advice, it's not putting them on a pedastal to listen to them nor is it me being inferior as a person for being willing to accept that advice (inferior at the job for sure, but that's why I'm listening to begin with). Putting them on a pedastal would be to treat them like a god or assume everything they do or say about everything is instantly the optimal simply because of their expertise in one field. I'm only trying to say is that there's a difference between being eager to listen and grovelling at someone's feet.
-
Well being not as good as other characters isn't the same thing as being trash. He can be inferior without being total garbage.
-
We all know who SKD is and why he has the reputation he does. WIth that in mind, why is it a bad thing to ask questions to someone more experienced? Especially considering how many of us (including myself) expressed interest in reading a more elaborate article from him just a page ago?
-
I would be interested in reading that article as well. I don't really play BB like I used to but reading your posts got me thinking more in depth about playing offensively and the different ways it's done, and what situations I'd want to use what offensive tools in. I feel a lot of times when some people refer to offense or pressure they do so in terms that are too vague and all encompassing for a subject that can vary highly depending on several factors such as character, situation, matchup, player, etc. I feel it would be highly beneficial to me to read such an article, at least.
-
Because character status is relative. Terumi may be better in some regards but a lot of other characters that were already better than him also got better in certain ways. Whether that means Terumi is truly bad is debatable, but he's for sure inferior to a lot of people in most peoples' opinion.

Blue Water Blue Sky is a ripoff of Forever by Skidd Row, which does have a pretty bittersweet meaning and BWBS does retain that sound, so I definitely feel you on that.

I think for float you can input 885.

Let's have a calm and honest discussion about Blitz Shield
Poultrygeist replied to Dude Butts's topic in Guilty Gear General
I like blitz shield but I feel bad for all the Venom players that are going to have to get used to the way it was changed. Also if it was as absurd as some claim, it would be used more in top JPN play, and as shtkn said it really isn't.
