  1. DOUBLE POST I was testing out the Gigant in exhibition mode against some computers (I know, I should leave that stupid unit alone) I wanted to test the effectiveness of it's range upgrade, to see if you got the upgrade on it at the enemy master ghost, if it would really win the match for you. I stated before in my guide that you should never bother with the upgrade because Gigant's aim is far too unreliable to depend upon. I just wanted to test the validity of that statement. and unfortunately, I had no Idea just how correct I was. the stupid thing gets distracted by the most trivial units, and it does not prioritize it's targets. in other words, if it's next to a masterghost and a melee unit, and it's facing the melee unit, it's going to waste the cannon on the fucking melee unit. I had the stupid thing at the enemy master ghost, there were a few units defending it. while my drills were going after the masterghost, or the enemies right next to it, the Gigant wasn't even facing it. a lone melee unit was distracting it, facing away from the master ghost. and as you can guess, I couldn't tell the bastard to face the masterghst and destroy it. when I gave it the upgrade, it shot it at the melee unit! I gave it the upgrade again soon after, and it STILL missed the masterghost! 160 mana, down the drain. what a horrendously stupid unit. here's my analysis of the Gigant. it excels as a defensive unit, thanks to it's massive amount of health, super armor, and fear missiles, which target up to six enemies at once. and on the offensive, it if grouped with a large army, it has a psychological effect of freaking out your opponent somewhat due to it's massive size (and I know this because I was subject to it) when the enemy master sees the Gigant, even if they know it isn't a very good unit, they pretty much acknowledge the fact that they cannot ignore it. I have never seen a player blatantly ignore a Gigant, they either avoid it or take it down. as for upgrades, mobile is for moving the unit. armor upgrade is when the Gigant is on the offensive (it's does fantastic damage, and is the most powerful upgrade you can put on the unit.) when it's on the defensive, the melee upgrade is probably a good choice, considering that it will stay put and attack all that surround it. I can't recommend you ever use the ranged upgrade, simply too unreliable, and only last for one shot. more testing on the unit planned for the future.
  2. I really do hope you eventually get GG2. I would get more into Brutal Legend if it weren't for GG2 being so complicated and difficult.

  3. if you can get the downloadable content, then that sounds like a worthwhile investment. as far as the underworld hill section for masters only...yeah, it's a little cramped compared to others, but it still provides tons of room for movment. I myself didn't have a problem with it's size, and had no issue beating the crap out of you there. I hope other players will be open to using that spot. the most cramped masters only location would be the tunnel in the center of bel canto valley, on the first floor. though people uasually don't play in there, I started suggesting if one feel off the upper floor by accident, the other player should drop down and both fight in it. it's small, but no capture units go thorugh there, and it makes fight feel SO much more dramatic. and just like the underworld hill, it's helps switch things up, and breathes new life in masters only. Edit: oh, and why can't you do guides for 4 vs 4 maps (as in points matches)? just go to exhibition, put the computers on level 1, death cost at 0, mana and leverage really low for them, high for you, and make the time limit as long as possible. you can take your time and look around all you want in points matches. EDIT(2): oh yeah, don't forget to friend FlameMasterAJ in my friend list. he only really plays master only, but he's extreamely good at it. His Sol is the best I've ever seen, hands down. you'll learn somethings by fighting him.
  4. oh, whenever you do a volcanic viper in the middle of someone's combo your blocking, the chances of you getting hit are pretty high. sol has super armor on when he does VV, so if he gets hit, he will take damage, but he wont stop his VV unless the damage kills him. there are move that break super armor, but the way sol does VV make it hard to break. Sol's (L) 2x uppercut has armor break properties, and so does his power attack. so yeah, I found this new spot for masters only, so now there are 3 stages for masters only, instead of two. underworld hill 1, in the top right corner next to the master ghost. it's a great place because capture units don't interfere. I tested it out with aedesyr, it's a solid masters only spot. it also works for 2 on 2, but I'm not sure about points yet. I want a master only spot for holy knights fortress! BUT THERE IS NONE!
  5. I feel you are partially correct. I lose to you because you hang out with your army, and the lag prevents me from bailing out of your combos with volcanic viper. if you thought volcanic viper was bad enough, without the lag you you'd get hit with it so much more often. but your right, carrying hunchback, and continueing my agressive push (by using a healing potion instead of retreating to my master ghost, losing momentum) and in general not jumping onto an army by myself is a good Idea. but even so, I still lose to other players like Sin. dealing with sol shit units takes much skill. I wish I could play this game more often to practice. does anyone know if you can volcanic viper Izuna mid way of him doing (L) x, 2x, x? Sol always bugs out when I try to VV aedeseyr when he preforms that move. @danceljoy: the maps are beautiful, theres so much detail in each one, it's a shame you never notice the detail mid-game, because your so involved on the match. I went "sight seeing" in the map underworld hill earlier (2 vs 2 version), and discovered hidden things like a hot spring int the bamboo field, the little dock with the cerimonial archway, the buhdda-head statues in the center of the map, the giant tower in the center with sakura petals comming out on the top. the "sandpit" like court yard you often see in old aristocratic japanese castles and such. I was really surprised to put so much effort in the maps, most of it going unoticed by the majority of the players. as far as gamply goes though, the scenrey is nice, but looking at it isn't going to help you win matches. :p EDIT: holy knights fortress looks sexy. it's a shame you can't see it aedeyser. strangley enough, you don't fight on the fotress, but in an area right outside the fortress. heres a video show casing it, though you don't see much of it , espeacially since it has the rain weather effect on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bAPOxvHnBs&feature=PlayList&p=4465865F0DCEC112&index=4
  6. no, you cant save a replay from training mode. I really need more practice in 1 on 1 servant battles. I constantly lose in them.
  7. sorry, but I don't think many people care about a popularity poll. I sure as hell don't.
  8. now you see what happens when you sell a game you love. it bites you in the ass later. watching matches on nico video tends to help sooth my craving for GG2, since I can only play on the weekends. have fun with blazblue. EDIT: I update my GG2 video thread rather frequently. give it a look if you haven't recently, and you don't feel like trudging through the web site itself. I don't just post any video I see, I only post the video I find interesting for whatever reason.
  9. same pic with the colors reversed. it looks like it was drawn on a chalk board and I thought it looked cool. was done in paint.net
  10. another silly pic inspired by Mr. ryu's avatars. I like Dr. Paradigm
  11. she? ayumu is a guy.
  12. :8/: I hope your joking. wait, yeah, if you lose to me, your joking... panda himself said Sol is the character he knows the best. EDIT: Ayumu, if thats the case, I'll be sure to send you an invite when I see you playing something, last time I left you alone to play Tales of Vesperia.
  13. hey blade, a while back, in the big ol' GG2 thread, you mentioned that you had scans of the GG2 material collection book in your computer,(I have gone digging in the depths of that topic on occasion) can I ask you a few things about it? do you have the entire book scanned in your computer? if not, what scans do you have from the book? is there any possible way for you to share these scans? or can you tell me where I can get them? I myself have a few scans, the ones raging tofu put up in his blog. but as you might know, he never uploaded the full book, for whatever reason. I followed the blog just to get those scans too, I was pretty disappointed. any help would be appreciated.

  14. what are you talking about? you beat me the last 1 on 1 we had. despite all I know about this game, I'm really nothing special. if you think my sol is annoying, OH BOY, you haven't seen anything until you played Panda's Sol. he used to take down my masterghost in 1 round.
  15. just wait till you can afford it. that's the best option. you've been out for months, a few more days wont kill us.
  16. good news is that the game is dirt cheap, all you need is monies! it will be fun to fight someone who is Japanese level, without all the lag normally associated with it. panda, any thoughts about my Idea about using scarecrow to distract the likes of Quadra Baliff? opinion? because I REALLY HATE THAT UNIT.
  17. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?p=485058#post485058 there you'll find basic guides for every character, and a general guide for getting into the game. I hope you don't mind reading, because the guides are pretty huge. scroll down and you'll find valentine's guide. any additional question I'll answer for you.
  18. DOUBLE POST! I have just came upon a revelation on dealing with masters who carry elites as body guards. SCARECROW! now I haven't tested it out myself, but, it's better than just getting your ass shot at by a Quadra Baliff, something you just can't counter easily. also, It takes 2 dispels to take out a scarecrow. same as a kokopelli summon. random tidbit. for extra protection,. I've seen the Japanese carry 2 dispels. not a bad Idea to counter some tricks. on the topic of dispel, did you know that the slow attack that Izuna's minion does cannot be rid of via dispel? I found that out the hard way. if your lucky, you can try to summon your own minion after Izuna, and it might target the minion instead of you. this has happened to me once when I tossed out a hunchback. Englfer has super armor on when it walks. over kill. Edit: I mean Firewheel! Firewheel has super armor on when it walks!
  19. you shouldn't let something like that bother you. I answered it for you though, and I did it in a relatively respectable manner. hope that makes you feel better. because people have a habit of overlooking posts, I'm posting this again. anyway, I'm thinking of putting together a combo list for every character. I think this game sorely lacks a proper combo list. however, this will actually be rather difficult for me to do, since I have limited access to the game, and the characters in this game have a ton of combos they can do, all with varying degrees of usefulness. if you guys have any interest to see such a thing, let me know, and share what combos you know yourself. since this is a rather big project, I'd like as much help as I can get with this, and due to it's format, it's not hard at all to contribute. I think it would just feel wrong not to have a combo list for this game. I probably won't get working on it right away, thanks to school, but since you guys should already know I make good on my word, you should expect me to work on it as soon as I can. until than, just let me know if theres any interest.
  20. xithmos, Iv'e seen some of the videos you put it. great to see how much I suck at fighting. anyway, I'm thinking of putting together a combo list for every character. 21. you want me to give you the said interview? http://ps3.ign.com/articles/102/1026689p1.html In short: With all this talk of BlazBlue and its future we wonder what fate lies in store for Guilty Gear, especially in light of reports that complications with the licence have ensured that ARC won't be able to work on any future games on the series. "We don't have any issue with [licence holder] SEGA." Kidooka assures us, "This year and next year we want to focus on BlazBlue – this is our mission, and we'll maintain Guilty Gear while we're doing that, so we're not abandoning it. Being a small company – less than 100 – and with the arcade market being quite small, it's not feasible to do two games at once." it gives us some hope.
  22. ok, I can definitely use a train to get hazlet. I just need to see how much i cost and all that other shit. how long will the gathering be? do you know? and what will you guys be doing besides playing GG X2 AC (if you guys aren't playing that, count me out, LOL) I'm new to this stuff, so sorry if I'm being a bother. if you'd like, I can ask in the new jersey thread instead.

  23. hey, I'm interested in going to that gathering in holmdel on the 20th, so I'm going to see if I can get to the hazlet train station that you spoke about. you said if I can get there, I'll can get a ride to the gathering right? if I can be sure that I can reach the location, I'll tell you if you don't mind.

  24. oh I don't blame you for being defensive. I just don't like it. ky's (F) 8x is not a guard breaker. but it has high guard break properties, like Sin's. whether it works with him or not, I have no Idea. With paradigm, it's a free apple, so he can do it too (a player did this to me a lot, very effective.) lets do more 1 on 1 the upcoming weekend. and put up those matches you recorded if they are any fun to watch. EDIT:oh, and are you going to work on a Izuna video tutorial like I requested before? more than just a combo video please, theres so much more to fighting than just combos. if you make one I'll link it over at the GG2 video thread.
  25. no, thats not what I meant, it wasn't directed at you. you have an annoyingly defensive sin, and that has nothing to do with slow feet (or heavy feet, I forgot what it's called.) or the fact that you obviously didn't want to engage in master combat. Sin in general LOVES to keep his distance, and the bastard can't keep his distance if he's slow as hell (actually, no one can, but I dislike Sin especially, so I use him as an example.) Slow foot Item is very powerful and dangerous. I don't use rapid fire because.... well there isn't a good reason why I don't use it, I just don't. I prefer bombs anyway. rapid fire is very deadly, and quite a few characters can hit you with a guard breaker if they catch you blocking it. I should use the skill more often. bombs rock, nuff said. stun bombs... significantly less so. need some quick master ghost defense? use capture soldier. it's not bad. Edit: the reason I went after you that match continually was because my focus was primarily to stop you from dominating the map. that's really one of the best ways to stop players who are better at taking over the map than you are. players who normally crush me suddenly see it's harder to carry out their plans when some jack ass tries to beat them up. I didn't stock on items because I wanted a constant flow of servants to prevent yours from taking over.
