  1. I was thinking of asking for a stick for my birthday. :0 Still stuck doing schoolwork? I keep trying to do 2C > j.C > j.2C > j.C > j.2C > 214D with Nu and squeezing in as many hits as possible, but they always tech out before 214D. Do you know what the most amount of j.C / j.2C hits you can fit in before they tech out is? Sometimes I they get out after 20, other times I make it to 30, but they still tech out before 214D. Oh and you also can vary how many you hit with 2C, so maybe there's something there too... It's just something that bugs me. :P

  2. lolol, those prinnies are from Disgaea... I see you are ALSO a fan. Also you are a girl, it is easy to tell. :P

  3. I only used 2C to cut Arakune's curse clouds, and that's history now so...
  4. Sweet combos, Sophisticat. PASTE MORE!!!! Also, Izanagi, one of the combos that I started off with when I was just a Hakunub was 214B > 236A > 6C. The timing between 214B and 236A is a little tricky at first, but basically you have to put an equal amount of time between each hit, the two kicks and gurren. It's almost like a beat, 1, 2, 3. Speaking of 214B, there's something I was wondering... people always say using only the first hit helps damage scaling and such, or helps you get more damage, so I see people do renka (first hit only) > something else. But when I try it in training mode I always get more damage when I let Haku do both kicks. So where exactly does that bonus from using just the first ever come in? Or is it more for positioning, so you can keep them close to you before the second hit kicks them far away?
  5. Turtling... I wouldn't call the approach turtling... more like... controlling range... You have to be mindful of where she is most effective, then maneuver yourself between those ranges to keep her from taking full advantage. If you literally never attack and wait, then she can just mix you up all day, and eventually you will mess up. That doesn't mean you should just throw yourself into her swords though. You just have to wait for your opening.
  6. I noticed a difference in damage in some of my j.C loops while in training mode. Turns out starting the loop with j.C scales the damage a lot more. When I start with 5C, I can take out half of Nu's life with it. But starting from j.C makes it only 1/3 of her life. EDIT: Welp, I tested this in training mode to be sure and I was wrong. Disregard what I said. It does more damage off j.C, it was just the fact that Nu's health bar is scaled differently than Ragna's and other characters that threw me off.
  7. The combos might be easy (they still took a while for me lool), but actually being able to land them, dealing with your opponent's nonstop pressure, relying on the amount of stars you have for what you can do and being able to squeeze out as much as possible for each amount of stars that you might be using at the time, having a drive that isn't made for spamming and requires a lot of time and effort just to be able to have it be useful instead of having D as a dead button on your controller, needing to IB to take the most advantage of his defensive abilities, being able to play footsies safely and not get whupped for using unsafe moves (ie every move Hakumen has practically) and the matchups... the combo's might not be that hard but then you have to actually get to them too, like Nu or Arakune or Rachel. I don't know if I would say his LEARNING curve is hard, per se... unless you mean to play well. If you just mean pick up and play, then you can just run around and mash C and he'll beat a lot of people at first. What takes a while is getting comfortable with his movements and being able to navigate the barrage of bees and swords, taking advantage of his strengths and not being weighed down by his weaknesses.
  8. "Yeah. Next person who calls me a girl without providing conclusive evidence is going to get an attack penguin to the face." OMG U A GRL??

  9. Arakune and Carl definitely need different combos; half of them don't work on 'em. Which combos are you working on right now? I also feel like the j.C loop might require slightly different timing on certain characters, but that's for someone else to confirm, because I could just be imagining it. 99% chance I'm just dropping it.
  10. I think it's pretty much the hardest thing to get down with Hakumen when you're doing his combos... the other ones are relatively easy. You have to do the falling j.C after 623AA at JUST the right time as he falls. If you do it too early, he techs out when you try 2C, if you do it too late, they tech out before j.C hits. I find the right time to be around just when Hakumen starts to fall, or when his knees begin to bend. For the rest of it, you pretty much want to keep the execution as tight as you can, any gaps and they can tech.
  11. That Nu eating Ragna picture is amazing.
  12. "A smart opponent will wise up and realize you aren't controling in front and above you, and take the opportunity to air dash in. That is when you hit them with a 4D and do a combo." Shouldn't that be 6D?
  13. Jin the Bloodedge.
  14. I really should use barrier. I think part of it might be that I'm used to doing move A to beat your move B, but now you use move C from playing around in CS so my move A gets punished. That and I seem to just be having the week from hell in BlazBlue. The more I play, the worse I'm getting. :P EACH DAY IS A NEW LOW. This all started when I got used to that stick, I knew this would happen. :P Pretty soon I'm going to start deranking and end up level 1, my story modes will reset to 0% and it'll act like it's Day 1 BlazBlue.

  15. "Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang, oh baaaaaaang..."
  16. Why would a Hakumen player let you just do that though? If I'm safe in my bubble and Arakune just comes over then it's rape time.
  17. Hey, are you sure that combo works? I set it to CH and I can't get 2B to link to gurren.

  18. lol, I DID mean it as an anti air, everyone is just getting confused. :P Looking back, I didn't specify but I only do 6A for anti-airs usually. But this is all helpful nonetheless. Something that's been bugging me: for some reason, I can do the j.C loop in the corner, but I can NEVER get the last j.C in. Normally it's supposed to go: 5C > 623AA > falling j.C > 2C > j.2C > j.2C > IAD > j.2C > j.2C > falling j.C By the time I'm on the last j.2C in that sequence, I'm too far away for falling j.C to hit, and sometimes even for a third j.2C. So I usually drop the 2 j.2Cs and falling j.C after IAD and just make it j.2C > falling j.C. It just seemed weird since it looks like most other people can do it... OH! One more thing. I was watching JackG's videos a while back in that 3v3 thread, and he does something that I thought was really neat. Against Nu, he IADs in after her, but he passes over her and manages to do j.C, but instead of it missing since Hakumen is past her already and facing the wrong way, he TURNS AROUND and hits her from behind for a sort of crossup. I keep trying this in training mode, but he always just stays facing the direction I IAD'd. Any ideas on the timing? I can do it -sometimes- if I IAD up pretty high and give myself plenty of time to fall, but that isn't as useful, and I saw JackG doing it pretty low to the ground. EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1Z7DLX2wH4&feature=related#t=1m55s Here's an example, although there's more. Watch from that to the end of the round.
  19. I have some retooling to do... Lambda Tendril plays different. ;o

  20. Ah I see, so it's like the hop 5B combos we were talking about in the combo thread. It looks hard to time though... stupid hop 5B.

  21. I thought OTG meant off the ground, as in a combo starting from when they're downed. I usually do 3C > 6B > gurren > 6C for OTG. I usually do 6A > 5C > gurren > 6C, but I want to get into the habit of doing the j.C loop off it instead.
  22. Ah, cool. My hometown is the KOP area. I'm in Virginia now in my apartment since that's where I got my job, but I still come home and visit pretty frequently. I was just wondering how many PA folks are close by...

  23. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo~ Well, at least you found out now instead of like, six months later when you were more attached. :P I have this weird idea of setting up a room and inviting you, Pisces, Arcade, Spider King and someone else and then running this huge Nu gauntlet. :P

  24. I've tried to do it off grab > gurren, and the timing is super super tight, I can't do it more than 2/10 times. I'm not sure if after that you can go into j.2C or anything... Hop 5A, better than using 2C > j.2C > IAD j.C?
  25. If you mean getting sweeped out of 4B, it's actually low invulnerable, I think, since I've tried to sweep you a lot only to have her twirl above my sword.
