Shining Aquas Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Dizzy's tier placement conuses me. I thought she was supposdely low to mid C, but there were friggin 8 of them at SBO, and that's too many for a simple fluke. Is she better than I thought, or is Japan just god with Dizzy?
Dream Maker Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 There were 10 of them if I remember correctly, even more than Eddies. I think she is just a very popular character in Japan, just as there were few Axls in SBO despite his decent tier ranking. I assume he is not a very popular character in Japan (and in fact I haven't seen many of them)
EndOfDreamz Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 yea some people actually get good with the character they like instead of just relying on tiers ya know
Klaige Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I will say i am looking forward to seeing this years SBO vids, it does sound like the game is doing a real good job of not getting spread further apart in terms of the tiers. I think Dizzy is probably explained by the fact that she is very popular in Japan and that again she is one of those characters that gets much stronger in the team format where you can try to pick and choose your battles to an extent.
Effenhoog Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 It's still something of an anomaly since there were only one or two Dizzies in SBO for the last 3 years or so. Most of them were out after the first round so who knows what that means as far as how good she is or how good japan is at using her It seems like SBO character popularity and results have become pretty unpredictable since the year Ogawa/Niga/some other guy won with ED/SL/TE. I remember one year there were like 8 or 9 Fausts even though he's not that high on the tier list either.
whytesakura Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 you know what happens when you get knocked down in GG? you die

Effenhoog Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 that other guy is shonen, the guy who won again this year. I thought it was someone else that I had not heard of before. http://slep.ru/sbo/2007_gg.html according to this it was someone called Shoudji (shouji?). EDIT: Further searching has also uncovered the name Niku-Q which sounds familiar

It's missing about a third of the matchup details, but if you check out Dizzy's actual performance at SBO from ggxx.jugem.jp, from the info there you'll see that she only won 1 out of 7 matches that she appeared in (the one win coming against Johnny). Not the a very great performance despite all the teams that made it in with her.

Not the a very great performance despite all the teams that made it in with her. That one win was against Satou who's a pretty good Johnny, iirc. Mugen also OCV'd the rest of Kazuki's team, and they stomped the two other teams with Dizzys on them. Dizzy has quite a few ups and downs in matchups imo, but in a team setting she'd cover for other player's weaknesses. For example, Kazuki covers Inoue and Kawin's lack of range, Inoue covers the rushdown aspect, and Kawin punishes the rushdown type characters. I'm really not surprised the Dizzy's got knocked out early though, there were several with Dizzy's that were too unsafe in their playstyle or just not that good. Ruki's team surprised me, I expected him to be enough of a dead weight for them to lose in the first round, not in third.

Killerwatt Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Tsujikawa was on their team silly..../// Heh, I hear that. I think out of all the currently active JP Slayers I've seen, Tsujikawa's is the one I revear/fear the most. That guy has no disadvantageous matchups. It's like every time he fights he automatically makes the outcome of his fight 5-5 or better at round start
