Starlight777 Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 And to this day I'm still amazed watching Leona combos. Here's a reminder that classic Iori comes out tomorrow lol.
Vulcan422 Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Finally, in 16 hours I get to play the good version of Iori. Not some watered-down Freeman bullshit garbage version of Iori without fireballs or rekkas or DPs.

Not some watered-down Freeman bullshit garbage version of Iori without fireballs or rekkas or DPs. Whatchu talkin' about, Willis? Haven't we gone over what makes Claw Iori legit already? He can be just as scary as Flame Iori. On the other hand, I can actually play Flame Iori opposed to Claw Iori. Then again, the only thing more braindead than Flame Iori is Kula.
Rampage Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I will have to say farewell to Claw Iori soon, he takes too much skill for someone such as I.
Mightfo Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 (edited) Haven't we gone over what makes Claw Iori legit already? He can be just as scary as Flame Iori. What do 214P and 214K do for him in terms of neutral/pressure/mixup? Are there any other differences regarding normals and stuff? Is his punch overhead better in some way despite having less range? i've heard people say he's legitimately different from flames but i dont really know why Edited December 5, 2011 by Mightfo
Bolverk-GTM Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 (edited) What does 214P and 214K do for him in terms of neutral/pressure/mixup? Are there any other differences regarding normals and stuff? Is his punch overhead better in some way despite having less range? i've heard people say he's legitimately different from flames but i dont really know why 214P is extremely safe on block, so it helps him stay in on the opponent. 214K can be used to go after an opponent when they guard cancel shift (defensive roll), so that's actually better than I originally gave it credit for. His normals are essentially the same as Flame Iori. I can't say his punch overhead is much better and in fact, I wouldn't even say that it matters much because Claw Iori favors frame traps and establishing a no-jumping zone with his 623P in pressure so that nobody can get away from him so easily. When he manages to get someone to stay on the ground, it's all about threatening with that command grab and trying to open people up with cross-up j.4B. Flame Iori plays rushdown game too, but in exchange for not being able to get out of pressure so easily with a DP or keep opponents in check with a fireball, Claw Iori has tools at his disposal which are way better at playing a frightening close range offense. Honestly I'd say this is a fair trade-off because I've fought a decent Claw Iori recently and I can definitely confirm that you should never sleep on Claw Iori. Ever. The question someone's bound to ask is "Which one is better?" In my honest opinion, Claw Iori is a better character, but he's much harder to play than Flame Iori is. Flame has always been beginner friendly and effective at any level of play, but I gotta give it to anyone who decides to sit down with Claw and devote to him because it really pays off in the long run. His rushdown is strong and effective, he can combo off of his command grab (just like Flame can) and he has some of the best low meter cost damage output in the game, hands down. People can hate on Claw Iori all they want, he has nothing but respect from me and he deserves it. EDIT: Correction on 214K. Edited December 5, 2011 by Bolverk-GTM
Starlight777 Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 I actually would have preferred in Iori stayed without his flames, but that's just me. I think his moveset had a bit more character without them.
Bolverk-GTM Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 I actually would have preferred in Iori stayed without his flames, but that's just me. I think his moveset had a bit more character without them. They didn't quite justify exactly why he took back the flames, besides the fact he's an idiot. Oh well though. By the way, I'm here to mention that I'm working my first combo video and expect to have it done tomorrow. Vote on which song I'll use. Wish Upon A Star or Fire Of Collapse (It'll be an Ash and Kyo combo video mostly. Might be some Yuri and/or Kensou, too.)
Vulcan422 Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Even he knows things just aren't the same without them.
Vulcan422 Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Pardon the double post, but EX Iori is out now. Just got him a while ago, and he is fucking godly. His combos are extremely easy to pull off and the shit you can do with supers and especially his NeoMax do a fuckton of damage. The sad news is that it's 400 MSP and that it doesn't come with all the customizable colors. You still need to do the 40 matches BS with EX Iori. Still, definitely putting this motherfucker on anchor. Welcome back to '98, bitches!
Prototype909 Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Anyone know if there's a shortcut to help execute crouching lk/lp into a DP? It's probably because of my "Just starting out" on stick execution, but this usually turns into a QCF motion or just another LP. Is it just a matter of returning to neutral fast enough and executing the DP?
Keo-bas Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 ok need help figuring my mains a bit. I normally played Kof02 and usually play Chang, and Seth. The third person is kind of random but was comfortable with maxima /vice/Takuma. in this game so far the only character I'm really comfortable with is leona. Any recommendation?
Killey Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 (edited) Anyone know if there's a shortcut to help execute crouching lk/lp into a DP? It's probably because of my "Just starting out" on stick execution, but this usually turns into a QCF motion or just another LP. Is it just a matter of returning to neutral fast enough and executing the DP? What I find helpful with my execution is looking at the input display in training mode. KoF inputs are really strict so it's easier to pinpoint why a move doesn't come out as intended. Personally, I've had issues with the DP coming out as DM. When I looked at my inputs it's because I went from down then forward, down, down forward, forward for the DP, which overlaps with the super input. Since DP's are always forward, down, down-forward I just made my inputs to be precisely that so the DP would come out consistently. In your case, it seems like you're doing the the qcf motion too slow as it's not registering the forward input for the DP. I would speed it up and omit the last forward in the dp motion to prevent supers from coming out, or return the stick to neutral and do the dp motion as fast as possible. Tsuki Garyuu Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Check Your Blood. lol good choice. So Ash's install instantly cancels moves? Also, how do you taunt? Been trying to find the button but no dice.
Starlight777 Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 So NESTS Kyo was announced right on the day EX Iori came out? Wonderful, hope they announce the date for him soon despite the fact I don't even want him or Mr.Karate.

Been trying to find the button but no dice. It's PA in button config. Also I'll be using Puppetmaster's Love for my NESTS Kyo, '98 Iori, and Kensou CV when NESTS Kyo releases. I'll probably time the video to be released around New Year's. Frozen Frog's my favorite CROW'SCLAW album. The style of the tunes and the album artwork sit on me so well. Starlight777 Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 At first I didn't care about EX Iori, but then I gave him a try and heard that theme and now I want to place him on a team.

Wonderful, hope they announce the date for him soon despite the fact I don't even want him or Mr.Karate. NESTS Kyo is due Dec. 20th. I assume Mr. Karate will follow suit and be out by January. And then Music Packs and Adel, Heidern, and Shion possibly down the road.
Starlight777 Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I am not too hopeful about Shion's chances as I am Adel because of the way Shion fights. If we were to somehow have him as dlc, I think one of his stances would end up being cut from his moveset because of all the animations he has.

That stance is awesome.
