It can be done, it's just that I couldn't imagine any whip-like weapons in this game at the moment. I always look at the way Whip plays and think "That probably was a chore to animate."

At first I didn't care about EX Iori, but then I gave him a try and heard that theme and now I want to place him on a team.

My verdict stands. Both Ioris are very strong characters. Flame was always a good character, so that's no surprise. I've seen a lot of Flame players steer away from Claw Iori and while I could understand why (he's not ez modo, awwwww), they made a pretty big mistake for not staying true to Iori, regardless of what burden he's going through.

If you want an easy character that you can manage at neutral with and still have good offense and defense options, I recommend Flame. If you want a nasty ass rushdown character that has to do work to get in and it pays off big time, Claw Iori (or NESTS Kyo, but he's not out yet) is your man.

I'm no Claw player, but I acknowledge him as a strong character and hope he sticks around in future KoF games as a welcome member of the cast (perhaps he can be EX Iori while Flame is regular Iori). Why am I not a Claw player when I really should be? Well, I know that when NESTS Kyo comes out, Claw will most definitely be getting the boot because rekka Kyo is my shit. In other words, not worth investing time into for me. :v:

Oh snap Lori is out as DLC!

I heard Lori is pretty godlike. He has rekkas and command grabs and doesn't afraid of anything.

I'm gonna lean towards Shion not being put in, because he was really a one shot boss with an obscure weapon based moveset.

Real talk, I would murder for a balanced Krizalid. My favorite boss in design and favorite boss theme. Unfortunately he's such a shitty boss.

But you play Kyo :(, King of big easy damage.

Damn straight, sir (next to Shen Woo). I was saying that to pick on the Iori players I know that didn't AT LEAST try to stick with Claw Iori because they were all "He's so different and he seems like such a faggot now. He doesn't play the same at all and I don't want to even try playing him."

Word for word, that's what someone actually told me. While I understand dropping a character after giving them a shot and feeling that they're too different compared to previous iterations, I don't understand just dropping them without even trying them out. I mean I gave fireball Kyo a shot in XIII despite how sketchy I was about his changes and I ended up loving him (though I'm still instant-maining NESTS Kyo when he's released). In regards to "seeming like a faggot," I argued that judging from his obsession over Kyo and wanting to fight him all of the time, lots of people deemed that Iori was gay long before his design change. :v:

Poor Iori, it's not his fault. It's the fanbase's fault for perceiving his obsession the wrong way (but everybody KNEW that would happen eventually). Hell, even SNK has the other characters picking on him about it now in the later KoF games (including XIII).

are you sure it's that nobody will play you, or that nobody is playing? lol.

every time I've ever checked, I have never seen more than 3 player matches available.

A bit of both, I had a lot of people just dump me after finding I wasn't good. One guy just alternated overhead and low on Leona because it's probably plus on block and I couldn't react to it to block both hits while he mixed it up. Troll me with it until he threw me out. Like, three other players did something similar to dropping a match at their third character.

I'm really upset, but I'm also really sleepy. I just wanted to learn a little today by doing.

I learn by playing, and while I just have to keep getting trolled until I understand what to do, but this game is so thumb-grindingly hard, so unforgiving and uninviting to new players, and top it off with a bad netplay experience with players that don't want to play...It's just not fun at all. It's a single player game. Don't get into this game. Don't play this game with others (not that you can - netplay is garbage and only veterans players would play this locally)

I'm the same way as you, I learn by playing. I really hope this game pops off, and I hope you find a local scene. I have a scene about an hour away that's very hype for this game, so I at least get a few hours at the weekly gatherings to learn from them. Sucks that the online experience is that bad, so I really do hope it gets better for you.

stuff

Didn't we play today and have an awesome connection? You can learn plenty from me, I'll always give advice and such. Take the advice I tossed you on PSN earlier into consideration and we can really start to go somewhere with this.

Or are you ignoring what I told you completely? I know I was vague, but you can always ask me to tell you how to play your characters more effectively (except Vice, I can't really help you with her).

Where in NY do you live? You can come out to sessions if you want. I play at Next Level on fridays and there's a tourney coming up on the 17th. Just because the net play is bad is no excuse to not get better if you really want to learn. Watch match vids when you can, ask questions etc. I'll help you out if I can, but after playing online I don't think I'll ever play another online game. If you want to come out to sessions let me know and we can work from there. I feel like people give up too easily these days without really trying.

i dont really agree with claw iori being a difficult character... yeah you cant space as well without a fireball, but it doesnt hurt that badly, if anything, having such a slow command grab is kind of a pain.

scary part is when you land a hit, no matter what you come up with, that motherfucker hurts like hell. though i will say, hes kind of a meter hog.. but no real biggie if youre running him as second or third place on team.

Yeah I proved myself wrong when I played him more. He is a relatively easy character to work with. Just a little trouble getting in, but beyond that, it's hell for your opponent.

Just picked this game up, currently repping Duo Lon / Vice / Elizabeth but might change at least one of those out when final team, who knows. Maybe for someone with a DP or some shit like that. Lots of guys in this game are fun to play.

Anyhow, really trying to get a feel for this when I'm not studying for finals, though my connection is currently ass. I know MashDat5A is too, so hopefully I'll see you guys at Next Level soon when I'm in from school.

I can.

Get really good at hitconfirming everything into EX Decide and do ambiguous roll mixups off of command grab.
