It's one thing to go to meetups and another to compete.

Both support the scene.

yeah its pretty much knowing youre going to pay for a 5 second ride at a carnival. honestly its pretty pointless especially if you know other chars, and im not the type to intentionally ruin my chances of winning... offline anyway :P

if rachel was competent l would definitely have still used her, but trust me, people saying cs rachel wasnt that bad; offline where everyone knows what theyre doing, the amount of work needed to be put in is tremendous. you could argue that that's the whole fun of things, but its just too much of a gamble imo, in a tourny environment that is.

tl;dr, competent players pick competent characters, and l dont think that will ever be different.

Yeah.

I still play Tsubaki because

A) I don't play competitively (no scene near me, sadface) and

B) when I DO play offline, the guy I have to play is a Rachel player, so it's like low-tier field day.

If I were in a legit tourney environment, I would've said "fuck it" and just switched to Rags a looooooong time ago.

I understand that but I thought Tempest meant that it is a waste of money to compete in a tournament and lose, which I disagreed with. However, since Tempest elaborated, I see I misunderstood him.

lol. You just indirectly insulted everyone who uses low-tier or non-tourney viable characters.

This. I feel offended.

That tier list was bad when it was new, and is now very outdated. Makoto is above all the characters I play.

Anayways, we should stop spamming this thread.

Hi its your neighborhood Axis telling you you are wrong and you should stop it right now.

Thank you.

Competent players play the game competently.

When did we lose track of this fundamental fact about competent players?

For shame, Dustloop.

tl;dr, competent AMERICAN players pick competent characters TO OVERCOME THEIR FLAWS OR EXPLOIT THE FLAWS OF OTHERS AND ALSO WANT YOUR GODDAMN MONEY, and l dont think that will ever be different.

Sounds about right. Anyone who says the majority of people who place or win in tournies in America doesn't play top tier / upper-mid tier chars for Blazblue is completely wrong.

EDIT: Fixed something else

Some game BB is then.

LK, what's your opinion on GG?

Thanks zidane that's actually what I meant to say. Well the money part, lol.

Lol you thought BB was a good game?

I play BB for the plot. :P

BB's may be better than usual, but do you seriously like it to the point you'd play a game you think its bad just to see it? why not just watch videos and use the money for a game that actually entertains u when u press buttons? u know, what games are supposed to be for.

Normally, sure, but I enjoy playing BB more than most games. Really, BB is the reason I got into fighting games and GG. Just because it's competitively inferior doesn't mean I can't play it for fun.

I still fail to see the proof of the so called "competitively inferior" nature of this game. Yeah, great, it's popular to bash it, but you know what? It's still fun, you're all still playing it and discussing it on a forum, and therefore, it is still a good game.

Sometimes the ridiculous negativity of this place is...er...ridiculous.

It's an above average game with the potential to be really good. Therefore I support it hoping the series eventually reaches its potential.

That's my stance at least.

You're playing Tsubaki.

How do you not notice?

EDIT: I mean, yeah, I still play the game, but it's not as good as lots of other options out there. If I had an MB community nearby, I'd be dumping 75% of the time I put into BB into MB because better game is better. I'd still play BB, but I'd get more satisfaction out of MB.

The game is mashy, some chars are broken no matter what based on their D button ( arakune ), matches are way too long, etc. If it's popular to bash it it's either 1) from people that just see anime graphics and relate it to "fag anime" or 2) people that have played the game and realize it is inferior.

It's fun in your opinion. I don't have fun with BB. People I know who play it don't have fun. I play it because it's a time sink.

PS: Discussion of X on a forum + your opinion does not = "therefore, this is good. Deal with it."

PPS: Incase people can't get it, this is also my opinion

Once I can no more do 80% combos, I will stop playing this game. Aka, when this game will not be retarded, aka never.

Okay, so let me see if I understand what's being said here....There's little to no point in playing a low-tier character like Tager, because you could never be as good as someone who plays a better character? That's really depressing.

Posted

I seem to recall Jan placing into SBO as Tager, a character people would decree as a flawed character. Is this not an example of skill far overwhelming what some people would call a character handicap?

If you're bad at the game, playing a strong character won't change how bad you are, on the flip side, an experienced and skilled player can do amazing things with so called "bad characters".

Yes, some characters have obvious strengths in comparison to others, but in truth it always comes down to how good you are at playing the game. "Your character is better than mine" will always be a contrite excuse for poor play. Learn the matchup and use your tools correctly.
