Urichinan Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I got to play this for just a few minutes today. I was on a small, SD TV, I had an Xbox controller (Which sucks, I hate those things, everything was messed up) and I was only able to play for a few minutes. During the time I got to play, I had a lot of fun, however, I did nothing with the Gems. So I basically feel the same, I knew the core gameplay would be fantastic, which it is, but I'm still turned off by the Gem system. However, I'm now considering getting the game, but only after it develops a little more.
Keo-bas Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Their was no doubt in my mind that SxT would be a fun game. I'm not sure how tournament will handle this game but I can see the infinite replay value for this with out being overly competitive. NOw whats this here about Kuma being a Joke/troll character? The game system enough cover main of his flaws amd his damage out put compliments is low combo ability. Tag cancel from command grab is OKI madness.
Mr. Kimura Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I will get the game depending on reports on the Gem System. I'm just worried about there being really stupid Gems.
Tsuki Garyuu Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I will get the game depending on reports on the Gem System. I'm just worried about there being really stupid Gems. Well, so far this is a more elaborate explanation of the gems.
Keo-bas Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I will get the game depending on reports on the Gem System. I'm just worried about there being really stupid Gems. Well the game ofer enough if worrying about gems and you can always choose to not equip them, though i can't say the same for others. If you venture online it will probably be best to make custom room that says "no gem" But i can also understand what the developers were saying gems being vital to balance, my only complaint was exclusive/preorder gems. But if their made available later on than i wont complain.
Mr. Kimura Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 (edited) Thanks for the info. Now that I watched the video I understand a bit more. I still wish they didn't exist but they don't seem to be the Endbringer of the game either, as I thought they would be. Edited March 6, 2012 by Mr. Kimura
BURI Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 You know, back then I was sure I wouldn't get this game since I was a bit disappointed in SSF4AE and I couldn't care less for Tekken. I changed my mind when I saw Hugo's trailer with Guy and Cody in it. Since I loce Cody (no homo) I changed my mind about it and considered buying, until the gem system stuff came out (and other games which I consider better were released) I lost interest altogether and stopped following it's news. Now the game is in stores and I was even considering getting it just so I could play Cody and Hugo. Oh boy I'm glad I came to read about it first.
MikelAL93 Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Bad news for owners of the Xbox 360 version Sadly, the two player co-op mode with an in-person friend on the Xbox 360 version of SFxT won't be fixed due to architecture differences between gamertags and PSN IDs. "PS3 version: It is possible to mix and match online and offline players for scramble battles and pair play battles. Two local players can play on the same PS3 using 1 PSN ID, and play against other players online. 360 version: It is NOT possible to mix and match online and offline players for scramble battles and pair play battles. So you either have to have all players be offline and local (so 4 players, 1 Xbox) or have all the players be online (4 players, 4 Xboxes)."
Remius Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 (edited) saw that like 5 characters and extra outfits are on the disc for later DLC. Am NOT buying this dumb shit. Capcom can go fuck themselves. Im so happy i didn't preorder this garbage. It's already a running joke that each game gets 2 months of release time before a "super version" is released with "new characters". But this time they didn't even try and hide the fact that they finished all of them (100% completely, voices and all) during the original development period and are just trying to milk their fanbase with more bullshit. All of this combined with the extremely questionable comeback mechanic and Gems addition (allowed on netplay, i do NOT trust Capcom enough to think it will have any sort of serious balance).... ....yeah, i'll just buy it when the "super" version comes out, where i can get all the on-disc-but-still-locked DLC faggots for less than a $60 preorder. You all should probably do yourselves the justice as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z61bsgAigpk&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHi2-7iCc80&feature=related Especially since i wanted Lars in the original roster anyway. Thankfully i can just wait for him now. Sadly, the two player co-op mode with an in-person friend on the Xbox 360 version of SFxT won't be fixed due to architecture differences between gamertags and PSN IDs. Hopefully this kind of thing will clear up the complete bullshit regarding people's assumptions on XBL vs PSN. The biggest differences are firmware based imo. Edited March 6, 2012 by Remius
Hecatom Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 the best part about the gamertag vs psnid architecture is bullshit made by capcom you have a great amount of games on the lamebox 360 that allow their players to hop up online with a guest player gamertag no wonder why every next game that capcom releases sell less and less than the previous one
Keo-bas Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 (edited) this is such a pity, game may die out befor its even flourish......is this irony for FGC or something? Edited March 6, 2012 by Keo-bas
Blade Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 It's not irony if it's Capcom...it's more like a repeat of the reason the last era of Fighting Games died out. But of course, Arc System Works (thankfully) has nothing to do with that.

But of course, Arc System Works (thankfully) has nothing to do with that. A repeat of the reason fuckin-what!? The last era of fighting games didn't rely on Onlineplay or DLC. You played with your friends or at arcades, and you unlocked characters by meeting certain conditions, not spending more money. Try rewriting that in a way that makes sense. Thanks and... YOU my friend are.... a contradiction! Edited March 6, 2012 by DogsofWar
Remius Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 (edited) If anyone kills the fighting genre this time around, it is undoubtedly going to be Capcom. Street Fighter 4 pushes no doors and expands no concepts. It's just stupidly popular and really doesn't do anything with itself. MvC3....ugh. The best aspect of it is that it's gorgeous. ASW, Namco, everyone else finds ways to expand upon their old formula. Blazblue expanded on Guilty Gear (and even itself, as of CS2) , Tekken 6 expanded on Tekken 5, Soul Calibur 5 expands on Soul Calibur 4 (assuming, never played it but can see the system changes.) Capcom just sells whatever worked last time. That's probably why MvC3 is such a shitty game. It's MvC2 with 3D models for costume DLC -- still no obvious effort put towards character playstyle growth or true balancing. Just a bunch of random twitchy statefucks and mechanic exploits that they like to call "advanced maneuvers". SFxT is probably no different balance wise from MvC3. Edited March 6, 2012 by Remius
Aegis High Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Capcom just sells whatever worked last time. That's probably why MvC3 is such a shitty game. It's MvC2 with 3D models. This, but I would say "MVC3 is like MVC1 with the assist types system from MVC2, with 3D models"

Blade Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 (edited) A repeat of the reason fuckin-what!? The last era of fighting games didn't rely on Onlineplay or DLC. You played with your friends or at arcades, and you unlocked characters by meeting certain conditions, not spending more money. No, see, it's not about the DLC or Online play...that's not really even the half of it. It's the fact that Capcom doesn't go to fix obvious mistakes as quickly as other companies have. Capcom has already spat in the eye of it's fanbase several times (and that doesn't even include how they handle rebalancing for fighting games). And yet dispite all the crap they throw at Mainstreamers, they keep buying it like whipped lambs to the slaughter. Like a bunch of suckers, they keep buying it and buying it till they stop buying it and then Mainstream gets the impression that all fighting games suck (just because Street Fighter sucks), so they think the fighting scene is once again DEAD. That's what I meant by a repeat. They don't adhere to the opinions of the harder core fanbase, or at least take them into consideration, or take them seriously for that matter. They just go for what the loudest fans want, and if they're too loud, they spit in their eyes again. Compare-contrast with Namco-Bandai, French Bread, Arc System Works, Konami or whomever...maybe even Sega or Square Enix...chances are those companies give their fans a lot more service than Capcom ever has. Hell, I'm still waiting for a reply to my complaint letter to them. And yet, mob-mentality-Mainstream ultimately dictates whether or not fighting games will sell just because Street Fighter is or is not selling as a franchise...ugh. Edited March 7, 2012 by Blade
Vulcan422 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 (edited) Character thoughts -Akuma is as beastly as ever. His Demon Flip has slightly more startup, making it a bit riskier, but he can still utterly overwhelm his opponents with easy combos into stuff like Misogi. -Bison feels really weird in this game. He feels so out of place with his charge moves. -Raven = Black/Dark Wesker, in both the gameplay and voice actor department. His moves are really good, he's fast, he can throw a projectile then go into teleport for mixup...I have a feeling he'll be high tier at worst, and top at best. -Yoshimitsu is fun as balls. His spinny moves don't dizzy him like in Tekken, and his Seppuku is the turnaround one. Windmill is also really good. He feels like CVS2 Haohmaru kinda. -Rolento has good mobility and range, but that's about it. He's like a combination of Ibuki and Vega. A lot of his specials don't seem that great. -Hugo hits like a motherfucker. His 360 does about slightly more than T. Hawk 360 damage. -Kazuya is MUCH scrubbier than Ryu. He is this game's Wesker. He can do utterly ridiculous combos and mixup for insane damage with only minimal amounts of button inputs. You will hate him. Top tier for sure. Edited March 7, 2012 by Vulcan422
DogsofWar Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 (edited) Can anyone explain this to me? Are they charging for combos now too? I don't have the game so i don't know what a "Quick Combo" is. http://www.hadoken.net/?p=4790 Also some crap about gems: http://www.hadoken.net/?p=4787 Edited March 7, 2012 by DogsofWar
Shiawase Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 A quick combo macro does whatever combo you set it to in the options. You press LK+HP and it does that combo for the cost of 1 meter. You can't hitconfirm into the quick combo and if you whiff it, it will do the entire combo leaving you open for a punish. Really it's just something else for casual players to use.
Vulcan422 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 OK, now Capcom has completely lost their fucking minds. Paying for macros only true casuals and scrubs would use? Fuck that.

Um, I've done 2LPx2 into Quick Combo. I can't figure out how to change the inputs in the quick combo settings though. Either way dumb feature I don't even see casual players using since it requires meter.
Sharakonta Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Thats the thing with quick combo's you can't create your own.
Hecatom Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 (edited) the worst part is that you can get them by accident, fuck that shit >:/ dunno you people but i feel that with all this amount of bullshit that the hackers are finding the backlash against this game would hurt it pretty bad after seeing how poorly sold umvc3 this game had a hard time and now with all of these dlc stuff hidden on disk... Edited March 7, 2012 by Hecatom
furix Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Man, would you guys please stop talking about DLC content, stuff that's on the disc, etc. etc. and focus a bit more on gameplay? This is getting ridiculous. It's like nobody wants to talk about gameplay. :< Anyway, I've been trying out some pandora mode stuff, sadly... It's hard to make it worth it, even with a correct gem set up. But, I've found some nifty combos with Asuka and Lili, Asuka hits like a power house haha(well sorta). With Asuka I am doing j.HP cross up > st.MP,LK,MK,cr.MP > DP+K > j.HK > DP+PP > cr.HK Lili: j.HK st.MP > link cr.MP,fwd+HP > DP+K > qcf+P Also a cross combo Lili: j.HK st.MP > link cr.MP,HP,HP > Asuka st.MK,cr.MP > DP+P > cr.HK That does around 400ish damage for no meter
