zeth07 Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 That's what you're supposed to do. Every time you get close to a grappler you're risking defeat. So you shouldn't be surprised if you get greedy and blow yourself up. Well it was more in reference to this part: Yet he still bodies everyone with "Dumb" shit that none of us learn to counter. I've long since settled on not dealing with it and not taking the risk, lol.
mAc Chaos Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Well, the counter is not getting near him in the first place. It's like saying you need to find a counter to beating Lambda at long range with Bang. So yeah, same thing.
TD Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 once you learn that you should never have a problem vs him. unless you're playing lostsoul. then you're never safe.
Darlos9D Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Yeah. Just, uh, jump around a lot. Though even that's a bit more precarious what with anti-air spark now. Tager sitting on full resources is quite a threat.
TD Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 my only thing with new spark bolt is that it doesn't actually stop running away, nor does it really counter much of anything. i'll use rachel as an example. she can avoid ground sb by sjing or setting out george to take the hit. both of these are easy, require hardly any effort, and tager has to wait 20 seconds to try again (because he's not catching her any other way, unless she's on some balls-to-the-wal type shitl). she has multiple ways of dealing with magnetism that are awfully consistent such as 3c, 6b, a lobelia, 44d, pumpkin, etc. so even if she blocks it she doesn't really care. as long as she doesn't mess up an input because mag is still dangerous. pretty sure tk george will murder both versions of sb but aside that she can block air sb, and it'll put them in the above situation. not even counting tager whiffing, it's still not a very good situation for him. and rachel will not be summoning pumpkin in the air anymore, that doesn't count as a punish for. and this MU is only 6-4. imaging haz/valk!
Putin Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Haz can just j.nD~B to dodge Spark Bolt and probably get in his face too with j.2C or something.
Darlos9D Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 That's why you don't just blow spark right away. Instead you walk forward and use it as a looming threat, until you see an opportunity. Now the diagonal version threatens an even bigger area. We probably shouldn't devolve into theoryfighting though. That's just a general strategy. I'm not saying it dominates all situations or anything. I'm very interested to see how our more obnoxious matchups adjust to it.
STenSatsu Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Might not be broken, but it is going to be dumb as hell to deal with, as per usual with Tager. Eh? It's a way to make your reversal 720 a safer guess at the cost of a whole burst. That hardly seems like a big deal.
Darlos9D Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Eh? It's a way to make your reversal 720 a safer guess at the cost of a whole burst. That hardly seems like a big deal. Well you still get overdrive afterward. Of course how good that is depends on whether OD gives Tager anything besides mag. Really it's more of a trick to use towards the end of a game point round.
zeth07 Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Eh? It's a way to make your reversal 720 a safer guess at the cost of a whole burst. That hardly seems like a big deal. I really wasn't trying to drag this out and I don't think it is a big deal anyway. But it doesn't even have to be a guess anymore. He activates OD on wakeup and gets to see what is coming next without getting hit, then if the opponent actually tried to go for oki and pressed a button, he can just 720 and punish with no real effort at all for 5k+ damage. If the opponent didn't do anything, suddenly they are magnetized and right next to him anyway (assuming the opponent didn't just stay completely midscreen or fullscreen after a knockdown). It's like you have to give up your offensive advantage if you don't have something that forces him to block, just so you don't lose half your life from a "guess" and simple execution. For me it is just a pet peeve about Tager, that's all.
Circuitous Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Take it to the Tager matchup boards, guys. If it's not about BBCP specifically, it doesn't go here.
GEKKA Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Will lead to spoilers and/or mindfucking. Read at your own risk. How does everyone feel about PS4's ending will affect the rest of the series? If you haven'r read it there are some really helpful links and pseudo summaries in the short stories thread. The scans really threw me for a loop, as if this games story wasn't (refreshingly) confusing enough, it really changed the playing field as to what's what and where it's going. Maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration but it holds some truth. I for one am really excited, rather far more excited for this game then i was about a week ago.
TagerTime Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Take it to the Tager matchup boards, guys. If it's not about BBCP specifically, it doesn't go here. How is the discussion about Tagers overdrive and new moves that are specific to BBCP not something specific about BBCP?
DC Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 How is the discussion about Tagers overdrive and new moves that are specific to BBCP not something specific about BBCP? The entire last page is pretty much CP Tager-specific gameplay discussion probably better suited for the Tager boards.
Hecatom Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 How does everyone feel about PS4's ending will affect the rest of the series? What is PS4?
BladeOfJustice7 Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 P.hase S.hift 4, and it's ending will likely link into CP. Can't really talk about it here though, so the discussion belongs in the Blazblue Short Stories thread in Zepp Musem.
TPPR10 Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I would like to take this chance to talk a bit about CP story and how it should play out. Now we all know the game will have three story paths (and probally true ending once they ahve been completed), which is fine and all, but I wonder: How does the story focus on the characters in each path. This is how I would imagine it: Each three story paths has one main story focus, like, for example, one of them focusing on the Six Heroes. Now when it comes to other sub-plots, rather than have all the characters related to that be in one story path, they would split between the three of the paths. Take Tager, Makoto and Azrael for example. Rather than having all three of them being focused on one path, one path would focus on one of the three. That way you could see some scenes in different angles and it would allow some characters to tie in with other sub-plots without dragging the others among, like Azrael being focused int he Six Heroes story path.

I just wish we could actually GET Phase Shift instead of being left out.
Chaoschao222 Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 With its evident theoretical importance to Chrono Phantasma's plot, there's at least a better chance of us getting it now.
GEKKA Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 It's a welcomed marketing trick for once. The books aren't all that expensive to begin with thankfully. Just a matter of "when" OR we'll all get Mori trolled and still not get them lol
SoWL Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 If those books are that important, why can't they retell them in the game itself?
GEKKA Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Something tells me CP will have a good portion of retelling some of the events of Phase Shift when a certain someone bound to show up.
YukiBlue Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 All hope is gone for Mu. Kinda' sucks but meh. Still have some hope for Lambda though, That Murakumo is too iconic to let go. Also. Hurray for shorter combos in this game. It never dawned on me how lulz some character are in Extend in terms of how long combos actually go on for in certain circumstances. Things like FRKZ, Tsubaki Mugen and BK are legitimate enough I guess. You have to spend some heat to get the combo, and you risk a lot through doing it. But things like Carl's 623C > [2]D Midscreen routes last an absolute age.
FR05tB1t3 BOB Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 so does anyone know of a clear screenshot of the new character select screen?
