can someone explain how overdrive works? is there a bar? what are the requirements? where is it located on the hud? please forgive me for being lazy.

I do know you need to press all four buttons to activate OD and you can use it to chain combos from funky hit confirms(as seen in recent footage). as I'm watching matches, I can't tell when you can and can't use OD, but that's due to the quality of the video.

No, I think they wanted to just more time in with each set

that makes sense. No one is gonna be beating up on anyone all day long on day one of release ...

Overdrive and Burst share a meter. The idea is that it makes you choose between offense or defense.

Overdrive is tied to the burst gauge. when it is activated, the burst icon "opens up" and becomes the overdrive gauge. as far as i know, anytime you have a burst available, you can go into overdrive

Overdrive has replaced gold burst. When you activate OD your burst icon "opens up" and shows a pink meter that depletes over time. Overdrive stops when the meter becomes empty.

something I found interesting while watching a day one archived stream linked in the video thread ... they had the win counter set to best 3 out of 5.

Please tell me that's the default for the game ...

My arcade was set to 2 out of 3, sadly, the money grubbers!

With overdrive it is worth mentioning that the duration of overdrive is inversely proportional to how much life you have left.

They're a bit wonky-sounding, but eh, whatever.

More importantly; is that~>

Hazama's Crush Trigger? Maybe it's the deceptively nonchalant animation, but it seems slightly less horrifically slow than I was imagining it to be...

Crush Triggers (from the ones I've noticed) are actually pretty fast (though this game moves at a whole new pace in general, sometimes I feel like I'm losing track lol) Ragna's looks wonky lol.

Also redundant 2 cents; I'm loving the general aesthetic of BB this time around, everything looks nice (love the UI), the sound has moved in a generally good direction (the music has "mellowed" from previous iterations, but it's not a bad thing), and of course the speed of battles is very nice. Of course you know /opinions

The arcade owners can determine the round settings.

Does the Burst gauge have a consistent refill rate or do certain actions speed up/slow down the refill rate?

I'm most likely wrong with this but it has a consistent fill rate.

I think I remember someone saying that if you end a match during OD, you receive a 33% Burst gauge bonus next round.

Ya, CTs feel about as fast as dusts. They are all also relatively noticeable like most dusts.

I'm enjoying pretty much all the aesthetics except sfx but I'll be able to turn those down so meh. I think it might also just be how loud they are relative to music since I'm used to them being quiter at home lol. The pacing looks great so far and the only character I've seen do poorly is Azreal. Seems like nobody has really figured out bnbs with him yet.

lol, kid Litchi still had a rack on her yet Bullet was flatter than a tire. Something's off...

Litchi developed "normally," whereas Bullet just pushed all her organs and fat to her chest, hence why Litchi has a body, and Bullet has an apple core.
