About the Astral conditions, this Famitsu article mentions the conditions for using an Astral Heat as "Match Point Round, Opponent at <35% Health, Heat Gauge at 100%" with no mention of Burst. They may or may not have removed the Burst requirement.

You needed a burst to even do an Astral, let alone chain into one.

No. Astrals consumed a burst gauge so if you wanted to astral, you needed at least 1 burst gauge. It had nothing to do with bursts themselves.

Well, the games/manuals/forums/wiki/every resource ever calls it a Barrier Burst, not sure how you couldn't know what we were referring to. The BB icons. You get one to start and another if you lose a round. You need one to do an Astral. We're clear, right?
