3D? Bah, they don't have that kind of money to throw around!

But seriously, at some points I'd have rather had CG than choppy animation.

Actually 3D models in anime are usually used for budget saving, so it's a good sign-

I wonder how many times per second noel's butt/pantsu(?) flashes on the screen, lol

I'm just glad it wasn't terrible.

Ragna hitting Jin with the Uppercut, Axe Kick was pretty great though.

Remixes sounded good.

Hakumen's sword animation was also suprisingly well thought out.

Also, what is up with Ragna doing Uppercut>Axe Kick without Inferno Divider?

Ragna hitting Jin with the Uppercut, Axe Kick was pretty great though.

I thought he started off with a Hell's Fang? It looked like he launched Jin with a 6A but the dark stuff followed soon after

didn't know 214A -> 214D launches the enemy that high lol

Only in anime can you go through an opponent after a blocked Hell's Fang, have the followup hit, and immediately do Axe Kick

Dat Hazama chin

Everyone feeling up Ragna's cancer arm

Besides that though pretty good episode to start out with, hope the remixes of all the themes get released cleanly eventually.

managed to watch the funi archive:

- Starts off with Nu being Nu and giving Ragna her love. Pointy Love.

- And there's Hazama being totally obviously evil. At least CT tried to make him only kinda suspicious until when things got crazy at the end section.

- Rachel gonna Rachel.

- TAO. Also they didn't go with a "not paying for lunch" joke? Also its not obvious in gameplay but not seeing her face is really weird when animated like this.

- Jin gonna drive his ice car to see Ragna. Beep beep.

- Random Jubei. Too bad about not being playable yet, eh?

- Jin gets a Hell's Fang to the face.

- Hey, Noel stop being boring. Its gonna be a long wait until Mu shows up. I like Mu.

- THE HAKUMENS.

Is the next episode named in the stream? In any case, the next episode is "Successor of the Azure" (蒼の後継者). 蒼の後継者 is also read as Calamity Trigger in the Japanese version. Already done with CT in next episode?

Or, "The Azure Successor," according to Funimation's slightly alternate localization. And yeah, seems like that's probably the case, as episode 1 ends with Ragna already about to fight Hakumen.

Unless, of course, the anime actually depicts multiple time loops, or is an alternate timeline, or has some other weird stuff going on.

The end credits show the cast members through Continuum Shift Extend, including Saya.

Speaking of the remixes, I wonder if the DLC codes are supposed to unlock them in the game.

Kind of meh, but I pretty much got everything I wanted already in the first episode.

Will the Ragna nendo be exclusive to the limited edition volume 5, or is there a chance it will be sold separately down the line?

A repeat of some of the rules to those who apparently missed it, do not discuss fansubs.

And obviously don't talk about torrenting the show illegally :v:

Apologies wasn't aware that the entirety of what I posted was illegal. Regional restrictions to streams are still nonsensical to me. I thought I was only MTV, I didn't know Funimation does it as well. And the ep isn't on there youtube channel either, yet.

The 2nd episode is titled Successor to the Azure... so that means they might just be going straight into CS. nooooo

Also I like the art for the end credits.

yea i hope the story isnt moving to fast its better if they just made this the first loop like i said most of the episodes might show each characters own story in the next episode i say it covers noel past how she became Successor to the Azure while she fight against nu while ragna fights hakumen if they moving this fast they might as well do chrono phantasm or the phase novel series lol

So...this series is bad...which makes it more hilarious with Sugita's little after credit speech about "erasing the 'jinx' on anime based on fighting games'.

+ The remixed soundtrack is a surprisingly highlight, many appearing to outshine their original counterparts. I use the term "appearing" because most are featured so lightly I can hardly consider their inclusion a "song" [more like a jingles really...]

+ Yay(?), CS is going to be covered(?)

- There is ZERO flow to this series, there's just a huge collage of sequences, I felt like they were thinking "oh damn, gotta throw in as much fan service as possible" as even the music lacked coherent flow.

- Animation and art direction is awful...this doesn't even look like a sub-par 2013 anime...

- The way they began [by showing us looping time with Ragna and Nu] wasn't so bad but then pretty much cramming the true route into a single episode was a poor decision (BlazBlue: Endless Eight!)

- Seeing it move in depth, Ragna's sword looks hilariously dumb [although I'll chock that up to poor visual quality, as that original sequence from CT between Ragna and Jin was the best BB has looked in anime, 6 seconds of HEAVEN~]

- This should've been a movie or set of OVAs, considering you can probably tell [parts that matter] CT and CS in 3 episodes a piece, 4 if you want to sprinkle in random shit. Also an OVA or movie might've assured pretty quality :s

- Plenty of strange and OOC choices [Ragna the Dickedge? Why in the world would Noel---being the introvert she is---ever put a random ass stranger's head in her lap, and before you start, NO, clones don't work that way...]

I want to say you could do worse than AM, but it pretty much falls with the rest of bad visual novel adaptions but with the distinct lack of being even enjoyable. But hey, #opinions

I find it funny that Ragna went from Hell's Fang to Axe Kick, lol. Even funnier was that Jin got bopped in only 2 hits.

I think you are being a bit unfair. The animation was pretty good unless you were looking at certain frames. I mean, Noel looked good.

I figured Noel just instinctively felt like doing it because of the Saya influence. Both of them showed some of it there.

It could do with some more explanation, but most of these anime are made for fans of the series already. I am a bit concerned about it jumping right into CS, but otherwise it has plenty of time to flesh out everything that's going on. Remember, CT itself starts with Ragna fighting all these people and the player has no idea what's going on at first.

I find it funny that Ragna went from Hell's Fang to Axe Kick, lol. Even funnier was that Jin got bopped in only 2 hits.

Yeah, it's more like they are not a video game now so they can use their "moves" however they like. And the fighting is more realistic. Getting stabbed by a sword once is usually all it takes, not 10 times with an HP bar.

This is the biggest issue to me. It's like they looked at the various visual novel pieces in CT, and just pasted in animated versions of the "important" ones with no regard for flow or coherence.

Like when Ragna jumps away from Noel and suddenly NOL building.

Not to mention Ragna just goes to Kagatsuchi because Rachel tells him to for no apparent reason.

Also, Hazama is drawn really strangely, and seems much more angular than his usual designs. Not to mention he's made out to be really creepy right off the bat, while CT at least tried to not out him as villain except in the endings.
