Airk Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I lost to Hakumen that way more than once. I get a large life lead and take him down to the last 1-2k of his health and screw myself over one of the following ways. I get air grabbed or CH and then BAM! "UNIT COOKIE DOUGH!" I proceed to scream "BULLSHIT!" at the top of my lungs for the next few minutes after seeing myself die in a mere instant because I made one mistake. But...but...with the new patch now ONLY getting CH dooms you to instant death regardless of how big your lead is! That's totally fair! ~_~
Ventus Tatshima Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Not all plats play like nutcases (What i want to believe atleast)
toanenadiz Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Probably the most annoying for me is when people one-and-done or two-and-done you for no explicable reason; even when the match is pretty even or the connection is fine. Granted, real life shit happens and sometimes you just gotta go for whatever reason. It's another thing entirely if they're clearly trolling you or playing like a shithead and then don't let you get the runback. But I'm just stubborn like that lol. How many matches do they have to play you before they are allowed to leave? Typically when I one-and-done or two-and-done someone, it is because I want variety and to play against a bunch of different playstyles in a short amount of time.
BoltofShadow Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 2 and done makes sense to me, 2/3, you win 2 in tournament you advance. I do that all the time, I only switch if I win 2 first or lose
Dawn of Musou Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Usually I do 3-5 and done but if I like the player or the matches, I'll come back for more. If I beat the person 3 times in a row with the character I'm using, I'll usually switch. I feel like it protects against unnecessary salt.
Zeromus_X Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Not all plats play like nutcases (What i want to believe atleast) Yeah, it's true that there are definitely solid Plat players, but most of the time online, it's all like... "k gotta get item I got the cat stick. TIME TO RUN UP AND D CAUSE HELL YEAH CATS I got the bat. hell yeah reversal. did you block it? MASH D AGAIN, THEY'LL NEVER EXPECT THIS you're doing something? YOLO HEART CAR" etc etc. Thankfully Plat is kinda bad in this one, so it's kind of whatever, but back when she could actually do damage off random hits it was more annoying (still have nightmares of her 2C).
NecroTheReaper Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I dunno about bad damage when she can get her DD presents, get a random hit, pop OD, and spam presents for 4k+. Actually one plat got DD missiles, popped OD, and spammed missiles for a 6k combo.
Raziul Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Those days when every single attack you try magically does nothing but whiff. Grab teching not working because of a barrier macro.
Zeromus_X Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I dunno about bad damage when she can get her DD presents, get a random hit, pop OD, and spam presents for 4k+. Actually one plat got DD missiles, popped OD, and spammed missiles for a 6k combo. I must just be playing against the wrong Plats then. But her conversions definitely feel less threatening than CS2/Extend, where every hit seemed to lead into 3-4k + bubble oki. Now it's like "oh I got hit by Plat. Ah well, I got like 2-3 more chances."
Myoro Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 My best friend plays the craziest Haku out there, so there's really nothin' I haven't seen of him. I sense you're not really in your groove right now.

That doesn't explain why you're magically dodging literally every attack I do. I'm calling it an off day and going back to Tales for a while.

Myoro Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Getting my pink square taken by a Kokonoe. Happens every dang time. I know it's a meaningless status symbol, but for some reason it still hurts.
Icekin Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Yeah, it's true that there are definitely solid Plat players, but most of the time online, it's all like... *stuff* Embarrassingly, as a newer Platinum player, I identify with this post more than I would like to. After initially picking up Nu in CT, then Terumi in CP, was hoping to settle on someone people don't dislike fighting, but derp. Oh well, just gotta git gud instead. The thing though is when I play people my level, this sort of stuff does work. Platinum isn't that popular, so a lot of newer players don't know to be wary of pan/cat hammer/bat at all. And unless I bonk them in the face with it several times, they never will be. So why not do it until it stops working? Because once it does stop working I won't know what else to do, I suppose. But until you run into people who will put a stop to it, it sort of conditions you into thinking that's the way to go. Kind of like pushing D a lot with noel, or 360'ing at every opportunity with tager, or Terumi's love affair with 6C. I'm never sure if I should be doing things like that, because I think to myself "Ok, this totally would not work against someone good, but this guy is just asking for it, so what do I do? Play stupid and win, or pretend like he won't fall for it yet again, even though I know he will?"
stickystaines Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Usually I do 3-5 and done but if I like the player or the matches, I'll come back for more. If I beat the person 3 times in a row with the character I'm using, I'll usually switch. I feel like it protects against unnecessary salt. To be honest i hate when people switch characters after streaking me for two reasons. First being that if i'm having trouble against you/your character, then naturally i want to learn how to fight against it. If you switch to your weaker character you do no one any favours. Secondly, you deny me proper vengeance when i do win and that just pisses me off. Sub character option select. That said i do switch characters if i get bored, cant help it really.
Daramue Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 There is definitely a sort of meta going on when you're playing people on netplay - I am constantly thinking about ways to make sure I'm not offending anyone with my actions / character choice. I'll usually never leave a room after I win or am on a streak - I'll keep playing until I lose so they don't think I'm some hit and run asshole. Ok, maybe nobody actually thinks that. I'll always make sure I pick my character first so my opponent doesn't feel like I'm counter-picking them. There are many things to think about but in the end, I feel as long as you have a good attitude about it, most people won't begrudge you online - the sensible ones, at least. I had to put more qualifiers on that statement than I had thought I would...
Angel-tastic Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I am constantly thinking about ways to make sure I'm not offending anyone with my actions / character choice. I used to be like this, but I gave up because it seemed like a lost cause. Somebody would always find something to complain about.
Arcus Diabolus Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I used to be like this, but I gave up because it seemed like a lost cause. Somebody would always find something to complain about. This is especially true in League of Legends. Cant do crap in there without pissing someone off, so eventually everyone just gives up trying to please everyone else.
Arcus Diabolus Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 In the end, I decided to follow the golden rule: If it works, keep doing it until it doesn't.
Fujiwara Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 pet peeve #1: people somehow rage quitting at the speed of light. I've had multiple people (mostly ranked :v) like tear the ethernet cord from their PS3. There was this time I was playing this ragna with like 47/48 won matches. Had him in the corner, ate his burst for the kill and suddenly he was gone. pet peeve #2: Ranked Noels nuff said Pet peeve #3: Someone walking up and talking my spot with a guy I have a 4 bar with when they have a 0 bar or something.
LiveWireX Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 As a Noel player, I can just say 0 to 1 Bar online Tagers will pretty much always be the bane of my existence. I mean, I don't blame them for mashing what they do if it works with the connection, but damn, it's not a fun time.

StylisH Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 At least you guys don't get kicked before any match even starts. Maybe I should play Tsubaki or something...
