So, I usually wander around a lobby looking for players I have a decent connection with, but whenever I manage to find some and wait to face whoever wins the match, the loser just gets right back on even though I'm right fucking there and trying to get on the "cab." The hell is wrong with these people? There's a reason your avatar is moved away from there, and it's not so you can troll the person who's been patiently waiting for their turn to play.

Quite frankly unless a better system is implemented, oeople can and will keep doing so, whether you've been waiting forever or not. You snooze, you lose.

You need to anticipate it, run up to the losers side and mash x and if the foe dies the same and wins, hold that L.

It's cutthroat in the arcade lobby man. I think there is a short amount of time where the loser can't rejoin the machine. I have lost to someone and when I try to get back on the machine someone takes my spot even though I was mashing hella hard.

Also I never realized that people were waiting on specific machines to get open. Since some people let their avatar go to sleep in front of arcade machines, I though that they were just afk.

Yeah, unless the loser decides to be considerate and wait a few seconds for someone to get on, you need to countermash them.

Personally, I wish the loser's no rejoin were a slight bit longer.

I wasn't aware people actually cared about this. It's not like there's a shortage of cabs to get on. If someone wants a rematch and his opponent accepts it then who are you to complain? Worst case you can always just bitch them out in chat.

Because in Arcade Ettiquette, if you lose, you go to the back of the line. You get your rematch when others have had a chance to play. There might not be a shortage of "cabs" but there's a shortage of opponents with decent connections.

Bitching them out in chat won't do anything, because they won't even see it.

Really, they need to add an ability to 'queue' for cabs, so that the game automatically manages the 'line'.

Netplay isn't the arcade. Again if you're trying to ninja your way into a match then say so. No one's going to assume you're waiting for a turn unless you make it apparent.

Well sometimes lines get mixed up with AFK players, and sometimes you want the W/L to be visible when you crush an opponent. Or be crushed.

I personally hate it when people run up out of nowhwere and take my spot at one of the 'cabinets'. It's different when they're waiting there for me to lose, but when the just pop out of nowhere and take my spot I think that's just as rude as what you're describing.

AFK?

Stands for "Away From Keyboard", meaning that the player is still logged into their account but are not actually playing or are not present while the game is running.

It depends, if there's 2 people playing for like 15 games in a row, they're clearly having a set so it actually is you butting in to their set when you try and join.

Sorry, but no. If you're having a set, why the heck are you in a public lobby to begin with? This is like creating a six man player room for your "set" and then kicking people because they're "butting in".

Because it's spontaneous. You don't go there intending to have a set but you get a rivalry going on the spot and that's wonderful. I've had people join my arcade mid-set and it did feel like they invaded and I felt bad for my foe who could not try and run it back any more. I didn't like, leave the lobby or anything but at the same time I'd have prefered it if I could keep the set going.

I think this is pretty much the most accurate consensus of what happens.

If it's 'spontaneous' then it's not a "set". It's just a bunch of games.

I dunno. Perhaps those of us who have experience playing in arcades feel differently about this stuff, because you know, if you wanted to do "sets" back in the day, you bloody well did them when no one else was around.

People probably feel a bit differently when you're not losing your quarters.

I'm sorry, it's almost 2014. If you enter the interwebs expecting politeness or courtesy, than you are messing up.

Why WOULD someone waste their time waiting in an imaginary line when they can have their match RIGHT NAO? Because etiquette? Whose etiquette? The internet doesn't give a crap about your etiquette.

I totally agree with you by the way, but it is what it is.

Honestly, opening up firefox should come with a mandatory spit in the face and a random racial slur, a little reminder you're entering the cyber toilet would do people good.

It is interesting to me how just creating the appearance of a virtual arcade is basically bringing the etiquette and culture associated with it.

I've had this happen multiple times, added a good few more people to my friends list.

I pretty much agree with what Airk is saying, which is why I do not like the lobby system and the novelty of it has worn off for me.

I'm only trying to play people with decent connections, so what usually happens is I'll see one person on the cab with a decent connection but their opponent has a 0 or 1, so I'm not trying to play them and move on.

Then I actually find a cab with two people who I have a decent connection to and stand there waiting (not even able to watch the match), then when it's over the loser just jumps back on, so I just wasted my time doing literally nothing while trying to play the game.

Occasionally people will actually take turns but from my experience it is a crapshoot, which is why I prefer player matches.
