BlackYakuzu94 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Ahh yes, the obligatory tier list and the freakouts that come with it, lemme get the standard reactions out the way: "ZOMG VALK PLS NERF" ", I ALREADY CAN'T FIGHT NU NOW SHE"S BUSTED D:" "HOW CAN ANYONE EVEN BLOCK CARL" "LITCHI IS STILL TOP TIER? FUCK TEAM BLUE" "GAWD, WILL THEY EVER NERF HAZAMA?" " IT'S EXTEND RAGNA ALL OVER AGAIN" Ok, now that that's out of the way, Hakumen dropping to B was kind of expected considering some nerfs, but still disheartening. arcsys sure love their main characters, first Narukami, then Sol, and now Ragna. :V
Ziggy_Stardust Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 I haven't really been keeping up with Rag's changes, what makes him so good this update?
BlackYakuzu94 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 I haven't really been keeping up with Rag's changes, what makes him so good this update? New Belial Edge the god and proration buffs on certain moves.
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Mainly just damage buffs through new combo routes. Buffs to 6A and 5C make his neutral game much scarier; he does more damage for calling out poorly timed jumps/backdashes and has to take less risk to do so. Damage off of his overheads also went up, and he got back some old gatlings that help his pressure variety a little. Ragna is the type of character that mostly hits people for good reads or them screwing up, so the amount of damage he does per opening has a big effect on how he stacks up in rankings. Some characters have a gameplan that is so effective, a damage nerf doesn't really hurt their performance that much (Valkenhayn pops to mind). Ragna is not one of those characters.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Pretty much, he doesn't really have much of a game plan so his damage needed to stand out somewhat.
Dreiko Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 If it's 2.0 that assumption kinda gets thrown out the windows since she's not reliant on charges for damages as much as 1.1 This was all based on CP 1.1 obviously lol. We don't know enough about either char to speak about how the MU will be in cp2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrsWN7pMjDM&t=3h06m16s here it is Hmm...that does look like a punish, yeah. I guess only time will tell. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they made Ashura even more unsafe in CP2. They did hit all the rest of his defensive options too lol.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Real talk tho, has Hazama ever been below A, at all?

Master Of Chaos Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Real talk tho, has Hazama ever been below A, at all? I remember hearing that Hazama was low B Tier when CS first came out. Then they realized just how fucking crazy he really was.
redsilversnake Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 I remember hearing that Hazama was low B Tier when CS first came out. Then they realized just how fucking crazy he really was. Dunno about low B, but he was considered mid for a time. I forget when exactly people started realizing how good he actually was, but yeah, I think he ended up at the top of A tier, or at least close to.
Verimeloni Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Ragna: as long as we're done with EX levels of bs, honest A tier Ragna Infenor Dividers the competition Hazama: naturally Litchi: naturally Bang: manliest of men Carl: high skill high reward Valk: not this again Nu: certainly not THIS again
Kriegdrache Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Kagura at the bottom of C, man that dude just can't catch a break huh.
Angry Guy of DE Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Until Kagura gets the hint to swing his sword out during his jump like Hakumen his air game will always be lacking. It also didn't help that his 6C still doesn't have head invul so his only valid anti-air options meterless are his [2]8 B and C moves. He's a momentum character, either you make the right moves and win or struggle trying to make headway. Such is the fate of the man who doesn't look at his own explosions.
Angel-tastic Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Wow, Izayoi is as good as Azrael now? Best Blazblue ever! Nu was already one of her hardest match-ups though IMO, so I guess that's not to much worse for me that Nu is better now. So how is Kokonoe looking in this version. I haven't seen to much of her recently. Is she still good?
Errol Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Jins bout to pop into S rank now too with news of 6D being broken.
Errol Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 27 frame startup, but it has guaranteed startup, +6 on block. 6C>6D. IB 6C > 5a/2a ends up in a trade (obviously in Jin's favor). Apparently Nu's calamity sword also results in a trade, from the guaranteed after startup stuff.
mAc Chaos Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Guaranteed startup? What's that mean? Even if you hit him out on the first frame the attack still comes out?
Errol Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 it is like spike chaser. or stein special, four winds etc..
BloodWolF Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 This thread has blown up with panic and entertainment, keep it up. I'm interested to see how the "tiers" get fleshed out over time. I was enjoying myself in mid-tier, but if the frequency of hatemail goes up, it goes up. I expect an influx of Nu players, so it'll be nice to play more people who know the matchup if that becomes the case. Looking forward to learning it all.
someonewhodied Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Well i'm certainly not teaching people the matchup Its fun using nu because no one uses her and gets wrecked by the matchup. Whenever i see another nu player i feel the need to establish my dominance so i'm also somewhat ok with this. I welcome the re-coming of our new swordspamming overlords.
mAc Chaos Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 how can people not know the nu matchup, its so simple compare that to litchi or hazama or half of the cast

I was always fond of playing a char that isn't played by most, but I'll take what I can from the situation. I'd like them to get wrecked by me..not the MU. Perhaps that is why I enjoyed lower tiers. Less crutches and more creativity and skill. Then again, things aren't that black and white..and never will be in fighting games.
chzchan Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 it is like spike chaser. or stein special, four winds etc.. That's horrifying. I already really hate projectiles that don't go away if you by some miracle smack the opponent as it is coming out, but why does Jin of all characters have to get one as well? It isn't even a special move.
