chzchan Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 It is kind of depressing that two of the starter Pokemon are supposedly the strongest based on first impressions. I'm not one to believe or follow lists, so I am guessing that the reason why things are like this is because the two of them are just that simple so all of the new things and changes for them have been completely explored and the ones who play them are able to fully utilize these changes immediately. This is what I am hoping is the case. Nu being strong is very apparent in the videos of matches with how well she can pressure and lock people down from a distance. I really shouldn't be able to say anything about this since I only attempted to sub her before, though. She just looks even scarier to fight and much harder to touch now. Sort of mixed feelings about her. I hope that a collective graph or statistics get made soon based on multiple players' perspectives.
Errol Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 i guess it's partly included in that, but the problem is more the complete braindead gameplay of Nu now rather than being easy. Easy isn't bad... but yeah there seem to be less technically impressing things you can do with her now. Don't imagine that Carl is actually that easy now though? Hey Look, very similar tier lists.. It's almost like I checked that the tier list I posted matched the general opinions I've seen from top players.. Oh Jin up to S, wonder where I heard that one before.
TagerTime Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Hey Look, very similar tier lists.. It's almost like I checked that the tier list I posted matched the general opinions I've seen from top players.. Oh Jin up to S, wonder where I heard that one before. NO! Your tier list was CRAP because it didn't list Tager as Looks Strong or A-tier !!! And whaaat, a game where Tager is considered good, say it isn't so I say its about time! He was still "good" in CP1 just not A-tier good. Now he it looks like he might actually be A-tier good in CP2. . Is it just me, or has Tager literally gotten better with each iteration of the game? Come BBCX Phantasmagoria, Tager is going to be in S tier by himself. Yes Its actually true that he has, and its my greatest wish that's what he will become!

This is what I am hoping is the case. It was only a matter of time before Ragna & Jin shared the top spot, has that ever been the case before now? Usually it's one or the other who are strong. And I think Izayoi has earned her top spot, she looks so good now. It's amazing the things you can accomplish when you have a means of getting the opponent out of your face.
chzchan Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I think Izayoi deserves the spot she has now, but damn have I never ever wanted Jin or Ragna to ever be at the top. It has always been frustrating to fight them and now it will be even more frustrating. This is 100% my opinion, though. I guess at least the rounds won't last as long because of how much damage the two of them can do now, especially Ragna.
mAc Chaos Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I'd rather deal with straightforward characters like Ragna at S than the ones that can just vortex you to death.
Sashi Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 No one likes games where solid, honest characters are the best, though.
TITANIUM BEAST!!! Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Say that to all the oldschool Cali players who loved Alpha 2.
chzchan Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 No one likes games where solid, honest characters are the best, though. Another opinion of mine is that the two characters I referred to are definitely not honest. They are solid, but not honest. In 2.0 they will be solid and have the ability to end rounds faster. I guess definitions of honesty come into play here, though, so I can't really argue anything. Honesty is a term that I have been hearing thrown around at the two FGCs I go to more often recently and it really feels like everyone has a completely different definition of what honesty is so it is sort of funny to hear them argue.
o Nereus o Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Im getting really scared for my sadistic main (Terumi) >_>.. ill make it work somehow but damn lol. Still early impressions so meh..
Dreiko Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 I think the only legitimate issue with having Ragna and Jin be super good is that they are already the most overused chars as is so we don't want to fight endless armies which only get strengthened by the people jumping on them like how they jumped on Kokonoe. Extend was great but there indeed were too many Ragna players to be found online. Beyond that, well, someone has to be top tier and it just boils down to two categories, "my main" or "other people's main", if it's not your main you won't enjoy the experience, it's how it is.
chzchan Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Yeah it'll definitely be fun getting more Ragna and Jin matchup experience. I already have more fights against those two characters than any other in every online mode. I was actually surprised after checking the numbers that I had not fought more Terumis with the sheer mass of them that appeared near release. I'm just glad that I am able to find more diversity in character selection at locals, at least at the moment. I hope that things will stay relatively the same offline after the 2.0 console release happens.
Mucky Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 And whaaat, a game where Tager is considered good, say it isn't so Give it time. Tager is always placed high to start off. They gave him a lot of nifty stuff in this version, but most of his improvements seen so far have been combo-related. Some of the stuff he got is pretty strong, like guard point hammer (which can be done off VTC) and ODR 720, but his issues with zoners are the same as ever. Speaking of ODR 720, a good chunk of the successes I'm seeing in videos are because of bad reaction on the opponent's part. It's gonna lose a lot of its teeth once people start getting used to it. Also, >"Nu is ezmode now" WELCOME BACK TO CT DAWGS, WE FULL CIRCLE NOW
CosmicShadow99 Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Tamai lists Tager as A tier. Dogura thinks Tager looks strong. ....The devil's rise from the depths of tier hell has begun!

natearistata Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Every time I've ever seen ODR be successful was canceling mid-blockstring, causing a move with decent recovery to whiff entirely and then punishing that, which isn't RCable in the first place. People will get used to it and stop hitting those unsafe buttons and stick with safer pressure if ODR is a particularly big danger.
RWA Announcer Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Glad to finally hear Dogura's take on things. Terumi still being Bottom Tier is disappointing, since he seems much better from the footage I've seen of him. I'm curious, how big is his player base in Japan? Top and Bottom seem to be lining up pretty well it seems, despite it still being SUPER early. Dogura putting his main Azrael in the "Everyone Else/I Don't Know" pile really surprises me though, especially since he made him look completely fine in that footage Jourdal uploaded recently. I'd like to hear a non-Azrael main's opinion on him, but did he really get nerfed that much? Or is this a case of him falling a bit by default because the majority of the cast got pushed up? I honestly thought he'd actually be BETTER in this version due to the other tops seemingly taking more hits and none of his nerfs seemingly inherently crippling. Still gonna be giving out the Gustav either way though.
Rhannmah Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I say its about time! Would you say it's... Tager time? *runs*
TD Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Without mobility, tager will still rely on the foe coming close to him until he gets spark bolt. How painful is a pain bot if it can't catch the victim enough to inflict it. He needs a flick, or a barrier, or something to combat zoners. One good property could make tager a truly balanced and powerful character.

His tools were nerfed even more than before... he gained some stuff but it feels like they don't add up to the nerfs.. ill have to wait and see until i get my hands on 2.0 Terumi to see if he's worse or better.

BlackYakuzu94 Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 Clearly any character with a DP is dishonest.
