That's interesting, new chars are always welcome. I expect something more interesting than Celica's simpleness in terms of gameplay. I think his style could be like Sho like some people said. After all, ASW has the tendency to implement some moves into the multiple fighters xD.

So they are making that manga canon now...eesh.

Parrying dagger and rapier? First thought is a weird mold of Mitsuru, Persho, and potentially Millia.

Mitsuru type normal with rapier

Something along the line of double hitting strings much like Persho double sword attacks

Millia maybe with agility and being able to use the dagger to toss it as a projectile.  She could pick it up just like Milla does or she can summon it back to her with 22D anywhere but it has recovery.

Her D moves with parrying dagger would have 2D 5D and 6D auto-guard moves of a certain attribute (Low/Mid/Overhead).  Without the dagger on hand she still retains auto-guard but doesn't get the attack follow-up since she has to parry with the rapier.

Nevermind that sounds too stupid.

I thought they confirmed it to be canon long ago. They even talked about her in Story.

I'm trying not to set my expectations too high, but I'm too excited at the possibility of seeing Sho in Blazblue.

You say that like it's a bad thing :v:.

I'm more intrigued by the prospect of Tager actually being GOOD. If his execution is not too high to do well with I think I'll be putting myself in grappler mode for BBCP Extend.

High execution?  Tager??  Well, stranger things have happened I guess.....

Yeah it was confirmed canon ages ago. Even the other BlazBlue manga went out of it's way to retcon Mai and the rest of Remix Heart into being canon

But that's just a different flavor of Bang's D moves minus the extra properties for landing the moves. I really hope they get more creative but I doubt they will the way Celica turned out.

not sure where to go with a character that has a parry dagger than to parry :/

I refer to the parry as if she does manage to catch you can cancel into a non-D normal something similar to the parry like 3S.

No dagger means that she can only use backdash, jump, or throw.

Let's be honest: with so many characters already in the roster, it'd be difficult to make anyone unlike ALL of them at this point. For what it's worth, I think the weapon loss part of that idea is cool.

Didn't say that the idea wasn't neat. It would just be a waste if it were that simple/similar. Even though a lot of characters are considered different types of Ragna, they still have depth to their drive design and gameplay that provides enough differentiation in my eyes.

I thought ryougi from meltys knife loss was pretty aight, something like that mixed with some kind of parry would be hella cool imo.

Well if Mai were made to play like Sho with just a bunch of two part normals just because two swords I would be pretty disappointed, especially if they make the drive just a bunch of extra normals or something.

Just based on lore what could Mai's drive be? She can poof those two weapons out of nothing, but I know her powers change over the course of the series.

Maybe Mai's Drive will just be the Nameless Grimoire, just as say Celica's Drive is Minerva. As for what it would do, we see in Remix Heart that it greatly boosts her physical abilities, lets her regenerate injuries and allows her to project a magic shield, but all these are abilities that just put her on par with other characters in the franchise as far as fighting ability goes. We see that her grimoire lets her predict her enemy's moves in one fight and by tasting someone she can read their memories. Perhaps her drive could involve her tasting her enemy's blood and then being able to deal or receive less damage to simulate her learning what her enemy's abilties are and being able to predict his actions? Or I suppose it could be something more elaborate. (Comedy option: Maybe her Astral could work like Midnight Bliss and turn her enemy into a girl.)

I knew Mai was gonna be in it, but not Cajun. How would she even fight? Then again, they're not announced to be playable so what do we know.

I really do hope Mai plays like Sho. Then I actually stand a chance.

The future version of Cajun that the Hypnagogia Grimoire displayed did appear to use an Armagus to fight. Though it didn't seem like she had any unique abilities. Personally I doubt that she'll ever be made playable.

What if the parrying dagger is used for something like a disarm mechanic? I mean, they wouldn't actually remove the enemy's weapons, but perhaps it does something like if she hits you with select moves with the dagger, you lose the use of a special move temporarily.

if celica didn't get this or something similar, it's harder to believe anyone else would.

That sounds like something I remember reading about a long time ago for Mai. It involved her D moves "storing" one of the opponent's attacks and then rather than disabling it, the move would heal her or not do any damage even if it lands in a combo. Of course these moves would need to be parried first. Sounds pretty complicated to implement.

Well I was more asking than musing since I don't really ever play grapplers and I cannot recall myself ever looking at Tager and thinking "Hmm, I need a main where I look and am built like a fucking tank but can't hit anyone worth a damn".

What, like Baiken's 4 "Sealing" Overdrives? Though cutting off specials is a...little bit impossible if only because we have so many of them on every character. How would you get Mai's 1 attack to seal which move on 1 character? How about 2? 5? 10?

I always thought it'd be easier for Shiori and Taro's Drive's to be thought about than Mai and Cajun
Shiori could poison the opponent with each Drive attack (like Bang's A nail special)
Taro could use his gloves to create webs (like Bang's C nail special) and freeze the opponent in place at a range.

Otherwise, a playable Mai will probably end up being able to copy certain moves or something along those lines.
A playable Cajun would most likely have a butterfly motif to go with her special moves.

*Walks in, reads today thread posts, turns around and walks out to looks for remix heart*

I suppose I should get around to reading that now, especially since I seem to be the only one who doesn't know who Mai is.

EDIT: Aaaaaand fan service. Not even 5 pages in.  Fucking hell...

Oh dear. This will not end well...

That sounds too conservative for Remix Heart. I counted fanservice from the very cover itself and it only gets more frequent/blatant from there.

Although I find it curious they decided to add them to BBCP Extend now of all times. Not necessarily in playable form mind, but you know, it's "Celica can't fight so she's not playable, honest" Mori. But I suppose they need to give a status update on Mai at least and do it sooner rather than later so that when BB4 rolls in people won't go around asking "Who the fuck's that!?"

I figured fan service was going to happen, considering it was going to focus on a group of girls with the only two guys that we know the names of being Jin and Carl. It was clear it was going to happen, but right out of the gate is a bit ridiculous.

Personally I liked Mai as a character, so I am pleased that we'll be seeing more of her in the future. And, as you say, it's a good idea to make her presense known in the games; her being referenced in one dialog in the original CP storyline isn't really enough.

Remember when Blazblue was at least mildly respectable?  Or had at least somewhat unique character designs that didn't look like Tsukihime style VNs?

I miss those days.

So, is Tager looking to be a netplay king?

Again i want to point out that this is the pinnacle of Tager play that i have seen so far in CP2. just watching the videos its very clear that Tager is much better in CP2 than he was in CP1.

Here is a very recent 1hour and 30minute killing spree marathon of Tager S-tier excellence, and he is dominating against all zoner characters. I think the player is Hage please correct me if im wrong.
