Still really annoyed BB didn't get in EVO this year.

"I see BB had a huge turnout last year and had one of the most hype grand finals that we ever had, but we need both smash games and two unreleased games that no one will have any practice with for no particular reason, so BB will just have to sit this one out."

I was planning on going this year, too. No BB kinda shoots down my primary reason for going.

Simple, money.

Ya know you just play in a side tournament.

I don't have a ton of money, so I'm not sure if shipping myself across the country and spending a bunch on money so I can play a side tournament would be worth it.

The only reason I feel I might have for doing so would be to support BB, but then again, thats a bunch of money to blow for the sake of supporting something, at least for me it is.

MK is going to be out by the time Evo rolls around.  Maybe if some of you spent less time shitting on other peoples' games yours would look more appealing to a bigger audience.  You know CP Extend is an "unreleased" game for Evo too right?

MK will have been released almost just in time for Evo. Players will have 3 months at most to work out whats what. We'd be lucky if a tier list would even be released by then. Tekken 7 will be a Japanese only club as it will literally be the first time a majority of american players so much as touch it. Being out for longer and being known as a working, balanced game is what I want. Many people in both Tekken and MK will be playing at a very basic level, not the high skill stuff we'd want in the largest fighting game tournament in the states.

Never wanted CPE, but just CP as we are all playing and are used to now. I never once even suggested CPE to be in EVO for that matter.  I'm not asking for much. Showcasing MK and Tekken 7 is just jumping the gun when there are just safer options.

The red devil is rising from the depths to drag the high tiers to hell!

I'm kinda pushing for someone to make a remix of Devil came down to Georgia using Tager's voice to sing it complete with him awkwardly trying to figure out why he's singing it, but there might be a better option... I'll think about it.

In anycase, the Tier lists may be rebuilt around who can beat Tager or not. We dont know until it happens, but at least Tager isn't at the bottom of the barrel anymore.

Do you honestly believe that people would go to the tournament that runs an outdated version of the game? Especially since the difference isn't even close to that between Melee and SSB4.

A tier list built around who can top one character is bound to be full of failure.  You can take that to the bank.

IMHO, Arc Sys needs to pull their head out of their arse and STOP RELEASING UPDATES FOR THIS GAME in the SPRING. x.x

Did the huge ass hype tournament you attended last year not make an impression, Mori-san?

Tager, Nu, Hazama for holy trinity of CPE?

Glad i play all 3 :v:

Imagine you would play the top 3 of any BB at this point.

Actually...CP Extend doesn't even have a release date in the US, right? Maybe that alone could be the reason why BBCP is not in the main lineup this year. I too want to go to EVO this year because of BB, it's a shame but then side tournaments will do (along with UNIEL). If I go I would totally enter GGXrd and P4U2 too...(and some Smash 4 :p). Besides if they see support for side events, they will consider those games again in future EVOs.

But, its not like CP 1.1 is outdated... I mean, CPE hasn't even been announced for US release yet. As far as we all might as well be concerned, CP1.1 is still up to date. The japanese still dont have it for consoles yet either, for that matter. Unless you can pull out your copy of CPE, the closest thing we have to being up to date is CP 1.1. And even if CPE arcade cabinets were brought over, I would be as against that as I am against Tekken 7. It would be a Japanese only club all over again.

I stand by my opinion of better playing a older game that people knows than jumping the gun.

UNIEL doesn't have a US version yet either, but it's been going to tournaments for MONTHS.  A "US Release" is more or less irrelevant if the game can be gotten for consoles at all.

It frankly shouldn't take the best players that long to adjust to an update. Three months into CP2's arcade release, you didn't see the top JP players flailing around like assholes who had no idea what to do. And importing really makes the point about a US release irrelevant. The players that are going to give us a good show at EVO aren't going to be held back by release dates in various countries.

Well, yea. This is true, but comparing the difference between versions is much different than between the difference between games. Saying everyone will know what they are doing in MKX and Tekken 7 is a bit overboard. CPE is still CP, so most of the things you know still apply in some form.

Evo is just going into MKX and Tekken 7 blind in a similar manner as pre ordering a game without checking reviews. We dont know if they are bug free or such, less so Tekken since the Japanese have already been playing it and know it works.

I feel I need to clarify something. I'm not shitting on other games, in fact I've been rapidly expanding my collection of fighting games as much as I can, regardless of title. I just don't see why a safe pick like BB would get bumped off for games we dont even know if they work properly yet. As I said before, MK could launch as a buggy mess for all we know.

The other titles could indeed be jumping the gun with their unreleased inclusion, only time will tell. But just because an old CP would be a safe bet does not mean it'd be a successful one. The JP players, who were undoubtedly the reason for last year's high levels of hype would have to regress to a version that's almost a year gone by at that point. It just wouldn't be a very fun time for most.

Yea. That drag in being forced to go back to a old version would be kinda rough. Then again, they should still have their console copies of CP1.1, so its not like they wouldn't have the ability to practice, in any event.

It's not an issue of can they, it's why should they?

Let's say you're the top JP Noel.

You plan on attending the biggest tourney for your game; the game you've been playing for almost a year. Now you find out you have to stop playing the current version and go back and practice the old version. You flew across the sea to play an old game? Alright, whatever; now the tourney is over and you have to go back to playing the current version of the game. Why'd you have to stop playing your game in the first place? Because the low-mid level Western players weren't prepared? It just seems silly. You have to go back and forth with versions instead of the Western scene just moving forward?????

Extend is also on Vita. More stuff on Remix Heart Tour Edition.

Vita Pricing TBA. It releases simultaneously with the PS3, PS4 and Xbox One versions.

Looks like with Extend, they've moved special move demonstrations from challenge mode to tutorial mode.

The vita version is also only digital. It will not have a physical release in Japan.
