Zouf Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 So a quick question regarding a bit of PS4 vs. PS3 hardware(?) I guess. So let's assume the PS4 ver. can potentially handle the netcode better (not saying it will be fact but indulge me) for BBCPEX and I want to only get that version rather than double-dipping, would the PS3 stick I have be compatible with the PS4 itself? I seem to recall someone at SONY claim that it is up to individual developers to work out the mechanics of it but I am hoping someone here can elaborate a bit on it as I've put in more effort to learn how to play on stick since P4AU and at the moment I cannot imagine myself playing BBCPEX on the PS4 controller (though without the game itself, I suppose I cannot make immediate judgement). Thanks in advance. It is exactly as Sony said. It is up to the developers to install the drivers for non official PS4 controllers (ie : PS3 controllers) to work in their games. For instance, the Qanba Q4 works in MK10, but fails to work in GG Xrd (afaik). There is nothing we can do but test it when the game is out. But it is highly doubtful BBCP2 will work with PS3 sticks (business with madcatz and shit). And there is no converter that works (well) on the PS4 (still afaik)
C0R Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 PS3 sticks didn't work on the PS4 Debug Kit, which is more or less the shipping version of the game. I wouldn't bet any amount of money on them adding that functionality in the extremely short timeframe until ship.
Myoro Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 According to a dude on this stream, the rematch option functions pretty much the same as Guilty Gear's, but you can skip the pre-match screen with button presses. (great news!) Celica's English voice can be heard at 3:43:00 and onward and Terumi's and Celica's themes can be heard all over
VermilionBird Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Celica's English voice can be heard at 3:43:00 Thank you for the warning. I'll get my earplugs.
someonewhodied Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 AkiShops PS360+ is probably your best bet Those time out every 8-10 minutes so you have to unplug them and replug em back in. Apparently anyways.

They just showed the same characters... with english audio O_O lol

So ultimately I am back to the same fork in the road: either I get the PS4 version to add more to my library for it and learn to use D-pad for the game or go for the PS3 version which has the stick I know will work but may not necessarily be the best performance on the system. If anyone is able to test this come launch day please post it here. Or wait...would asking ASW directly yield any sort of meaningful answer? Guess I could give it a shot... AkiShops PS360+ is probably your best bet I appreciate the suggestion but unfortunately, my PS4 purchase has left me dry of funds for the time being until whenever Extend is localized. Nothing to do but wait it out now.
Litherain-XIII Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Celica's English voice can be heard at 3:43:00 and i thought bangs english voice was bad.... dayum son.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I got used to Noel's voice, I can do the same here.
Dreiko Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I have been hearing Jp Celica since 2011 with the BBCS1 drama cd, not gonna go to a different VA now lol. Nomizu too good. Now onto more gameplay-related stuff, hmm, how bout that online rematch button eh!
LaowPing Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Hells yeah, rematch button too hype. And i like Celica's voice. Can't wait to hear how she sounds with Terumi's foot smashing her face into the ground. Sent from my ZTE-X500 using Tapatalk 2
CosmicShadow99 Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Suppose I'm the only one who's used the dubs since CT so I'm fine with them. English Tager is a man!....even if horribly abused. But having a rematch button is nice too.

Well, there is no reason PS3 version would fail to deliver a proper experience. BBCP works fine on this system (or any other iteration of the game) This is the same engine. And the online will be the same on both versions. Netplay is all about the netcode and the quality of the peering between the two players. Hardware has little (or nothing) to do with it.
AchedSphinx Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 as a GOOD DUSTLOOP MEMBER, Thanks for the insight SKD. I've never really thought of myself as anything more than a mid-level player(since all I do is netplay), but its truly amazing how large the gap is between the two skill levels, and this off something I thought was so simple to understand: mix-up. It goes to show I still have a long way to go despite playing fighting games for almost six years now. If you are honestly considering expanding upon this (I mean gosh, your write-ups were super in-depth) you could try making a video to compliment your argument so to speak (I consider myself a visual learner who's addicted to parenthesis in forum posts). And since we were on the topic about egos earlier, I consider myself a pretty competitive player. I don't like losing, however I do like learning, and I will take any advice I can get because it's fun to learn and play against good players. One of the things I learned from SKD's post were my own shortcomings. For one, I don't gain enough information as I should be going in a match, to learn all the nuisances going in. I have a general understanding of match-ups (I'm talking P4A here, but fight games in general), but since netplay doesn't make me challenge these preconceptions my own knowledge will never expand. Another thing, I suck at reacting to things. This could be because of netplay, but I react, I don't read since people do crazy things all the time online, and from what I understand reactions are all about reads (LK posted a video about this about a year ago). In summation, these two things (there are more I'm sure) are probably why I'm stuck at mid-level player. If you really think about it, playing a fighting game is kind of like taking an exam. The person with the most information will often have the highest score and those people tend to put a lot of time and effort into studying, which I need to do more of.

Grab yourself a Titan One adapter problem solved. It works for ps3/4 Xbox 360/One WiiU too. Any controller that has a USB can use it.
antonymichiru Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I'd like to know if Jin and Ragna have been nerfed in the next bbcp (extend) what do you think about 2.0 changes? It's really hard to win against them... they are quite perfect, well balanced and I really can't do any strategy cause they have an unexpected gameplay (shit :D)

Errol Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I guess PS3 is probably the correct choice for me. When all of the stick makers have their stuff together for PS4, I'll buy a new stick I guess. The next version of BB on console is only going to be a year and a half out probably anyway. Don't see myself switching to PS4 full time just yet anyway. Not when I would like to be able to swap to UNIEL easily etc. Probably digital again. There's a bonus for preordering this time? Previously, It was just purchasing early I thought? Also people using english celica are getting blocked
Zouf Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Will there be an Asian version? It's usually much cheaper :o
