burningvigor Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Is it just me or does crossplay have frame skipping issues? I've noticed with some people i get 2-3f delay but the game feels like it's running at 30fps. There isn't much input delay, but why is the game running so choppy? While others I can get 4-5f delay, but the game runs smooth like butter, but with input delay. I haven't really tested, but it feels like the framerate goes down when I'm playing against ps3 users(I'm a ps4 player).
Dude Butts Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Both CPS2 and CPS3 (and by extension, any good fighting game Capcom ever made) have a 4F delay too. And that's from a cab running a CRT, not emulation. What delay did older GG games have? I'm not aware of measurements from other series but I've always been under the impression that 4F is fairly typical. er... no sir. Usually console PORTS of those games will have frame delay because of innate input lag from the console. Dedicated arcade boards with CRTs shouldn't have any input lag. I could see maybe ac+r suffering some input lag because it ran on ringedge 2 emulating naomi, but the older games should've had 1 frame of input lag (functionally none. press the button and it comes out on the next frame)

He's referring to these tests: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoJzobmdGzU I don't know if anyone ever got around to anything other than ST. ST was found to have an inherent 4 frame input delay on CPSII.
rubedo777 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Anyone notice that the connection rating displayed in ranked matches seems to not really match up with the connection ratings in player/lobby matches? In particular, I get a lot of players listing as 4 bars in ranked, but when I play them, I have 5-10f delay and it's completely unplayable. A lot of these players end up being Japanese, but I can't really tell until during the match when it shows their card... Why is the connection rating display so wrong?

Who fucking knows, but it's not just you. Ranked is unplayable because that bars don't mean shit there. Lobbies are fine though. I get the same delay in lobbies against a 1 bar as I do against 4 bars. And of course everyone in ranked plays sol, ky, sin or i-no so you cna't actually do shit through the 5 frame minimum delay lmao

Dosu Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Wait, so this means even on a lagless monitor I'm getting a 4frame input delay? I'm surprised the response to this is so understated. That's unacceptable.. that means when factoring in monitor lag and netplay, I could easily be playing with 6-8 frames of input delay. That sucks. Don't forget to add in controller input lag too, tests show the TE2 at 5ms and Hori v4 at 4.75ms on the PS4. :D http://www.teyah.net/sticklag/results.html
Nyaa Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Is that a wireless PS4-controller? How much input delay is added from the wireless transmission? When inputs are transferred wirelessly, a lot of different stuff can influence it, like distance, interferrence, objects, etc.
RisingStars Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Probably a widely asked question, but is netplay supposed to suck this much? I have a strong stable wired connection, and regularly play USF4 on my PC with relatively no lag for the most part. I've also played what felt to be relatively lag free 3so, ggpo, mvc2, etc. Have I just had an unlucky string of opponents with shitty connections? Or does the netcode suck? edit: I stream movies and play USF4 lag free...i mean freaking USF4 PC!, which has like the worst netcode ever. what gives with ggxrd...
Kumlekar Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Lol at 4 frames being unplayable. I'm lucky if I'm that low.
Kikuichimonji Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Is that a wireless PS4-controller? How much input delay is added from the wireless transmission? When inputs are transferred wirelessly, a lot of different stuff can influence it, like distance, interferrence, objects, etc. There is practically no noticeable effect on latency on wireless controllers. You're talking about single digits milliseconds of difference.

Much like USF4 PC, don't ever play ranked. The code's broken there for some reason, and everyone's real bad. You also aren't play SF4 lag free lol.
daymendou Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Interesting video testing the Xrd game engine input delayhttps://youtu.be/LV1rfhwndw8 Final result was 5.3 frames. I think that means 1F online (6.3F total) is still 20% more delay than offline play.
