    Character Types

Well, some are still better at it than others, but yeah...that's how Guilty Gear plays...or like any fighting game. Get advantage, keep advantage, win. If the opponent is free to move, you're giving up the advantage (usually). Often this can't be avoided, but the goal is to keep them in your range until something hits and then back in after doing the damage.
  4. lololol Ryu vs Pizza Cats...wow
  5. Er, I meant NOT blocking there. You guys probably figured that out. Uh...what else. Oh, I generally don't like f.S, but it's pretty good in this fight. Yeah, he might Storm Viper it, but who cares.
  6. No, it hasn't always been Star Wars in Soul Calibur, Solid Snake in Smash, freaking Mortal Kombat versus DC (?????), now...Speed Racer vs Ryu? SNK and Capcom made sense. Marvel and Capcom was a great idea and definitely tolerable with characters with similar powers and so on. Scorpion vs Wonder Woman, not so much. Oh and things like...this: http://kotaku.com/387992/capcom-nippon-ichi-namco-bandai-gust-and-idea-factory-team-for-rpg-fans-wet-dream
  7. That's...not too very unlike how I play. Few things though. Blocking...you guys both try to attack when you shouldn't. You have to pick your openings carefully against HOS, especially at close range since there his normals are superior. 5D is not safe at any range on block if he has meter to Fafnir. If he has 50%, he may very well dead angle your whatever and get a short combo...your friend didn't really do that, but it's something to think about. Not saying you shouldn't attack whenever he has 50%, he is after all blowing that meter...but in certain situations/end of the match, it's definitely bad for you. A lot of sweep going on, and it's not entirely a bad idea but it can limit your pressure a little. Your okizeme seemed to consist largely of CSE > short string or (more commonly) 5K > short string with little mixup following. This is a lot like me, really, but there's a lot of room for improvement there. Ky has a lot of options for this. Good use of FB cross though, no Lightning Sphere I noticed...which is a shame, that's a great move too. Be careful on the Greed Severs. They can save you, they often get me out of trouble too, but a good player can react to them and definitely punish them. I noticed the HOS player was doing silly things like 5H > Rock It > AC even when he had 100% meter, the guy had multiple openings to really kill you. You have to defend against Gunblaze better, too, though he wasn't using it the best he could have. You got a LOT of throws, speaking of. Have to get better about recognizing when you can go for a VT loop and when not, and less OTG 5K...it's not always a bad idea to push HOS away/into a corner, but if you're just going to run up and do another 5K, eh...anyway, still probably a better idea to crank the guard bar and possibly go for a throw setup or whatever. Pretty good though. I have some HOS tips in the matchups subforum if you haven't seen that.
  8. What's with all the silly crossovers lately..
  9. So...what is Tatsunoko.
  10. I'm pretty hyped about this, looks pretty good. The characters I like seem to be good too. (Both Yuris!)
  11. Why do you guys need to play more than one character? Stick with one and play different arcanas if you want variety. not being able to find 4 characters to suit your tastes in a game isn't a problem, you only need one. Certainly is pretty tough to fight Konoha with Fiona though. And Kamui tends to do what I do better. =/
  12. Hey. Fiona's sword is way useful.
  13. Do two 6Hs. If the opponent is lazy enough to let you. Like, something > 6H > c.S > 6P > 6H. Flashing bar! Or just some standard blah blockstring into FRC stun edge or stun dipper > more blockstring/mixup. Some say H stun edge is better here, I say S shrug.
  14. Yeah that was a good fight. More please!
  15. That would be a lot of work. The best you can do with this is learn your character's hitboxes and their moves' attack boxes and in what situations they're likely to win in and use them accordingly. Things like this are discussed in the character forums on a match specific basis, in the Matchups subforums actually. If you want specific information, that's the way to go, and any significant issues with "this beating that" will be discussed.
  16. Well...depends on what you call "balanced", but this is how I see it. Slash was considered a "boring" game by many, as the crazy ridiculous loops and combos from #R were missing (but not all of them). The game was simpler, and the simpler characters were better. The top tier wasn't as overpowering as AC's top tier, but the bottom tier in AC is better than the bottom tier in Slash and technical ability/hard characters are more rewarding again. AC is also considered a more fun game since the craziness is back, and the "broken" stuff generally at least requires tension.

    Fake FRCs

This would be stupid. A creative idea perhaps, but...no.
  18. Dude he's AWESOME, for real. "Shitty" is just how the name translates and why I put it in quotes because I think he's godlike. He crosses somebody up with BURST. BR FRC x3 > wild throw...man I would just shit myself and fall over if somebody did that to me. edit: on topic, so...yeah Slash 2H. Really good. Still good in AC, just don't whiff it ever.
  19. Eh it's nowhere near as good as the "shitty Sol" videos. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Fm2PeMEQic0 http://youtube.com/watch?v=YkRKD_3-wPk
  20. RESPECT CANCEL > anything it shrinks ky hitbox
  21. NO WAY, THEY'RE ACTUALLY HOLY WATERS??????? I was hoping so but it seemed too good to be true. She IS a Belmont. Holy shit. I'm not playing Guilty Gear anymore after this comes out. Sounds awesome. Also the cross smash super totally makes it look like an axe. She's only short the dagger and stopwatch.
  22. Hey CD can you explain to me what that projectile Elsa has is/what it does, how long it stays out before you activate it, why it's good/why people seem to do it kinda randomly.
  23. oh yeah, I was going to mention that. It was much easier to combo into, but far from guaranteed. f.S > slide was that shit.
  24. Yeah that's what I was saying Slash Sol didn't need to set up anything, he was the random hit guy in the comparison while I-no was the setup one.
  25. Yeah...that's not even possible. There are some obscure situations where it will hit in a combo iirc, but it won't kill them, or even do damage. Top tier doesn't always mean highest damage output, no, it can mean that the character has the easiest, most reliable ways to net damage. Say a character can do 40% every time off of most any random hit whereas another character can do 80% off of a setup in the corner. The character doing 40% anywhere is better, it will happen much more often, and possibly before the other character even has the tension or other criteria needed to do his damage. I think I just compared Slash Sol and I-no or something.
