Montreal: Le Thread Generale Pour Weeaboo Fighters
pochp replied to BladeOfJustice7's topic in International
It was in response to what dai-loli posted. No offense though, I thought it was a student protest before I talked to my parents. In other news, would anyone be interested in casuals+BBR stream in Saint-Bruno this Friday? Stream is supposed to be from 10PM to 6AM, so I'd need to check with my parents first obv. We have a bunch of mattresses so it's possible to stay over for the night. -
Anyone else coming from Ottawa? I remember you guys had a least a few players there.

What happened last Thursday was the annual protest against police violence, it's not the same thing as this week's student strike. -
Aw if there's anything we can do to make it more probable for either of them to come let us know. At least it looks like MAT might not be cancelled this year, so if they still want to come to Montreal there's another chance (though it is the week before ECT). http://www.mat.mtlsf.com/

So yeah I'm working on some Mu tutorials/reference videos, got 2/4 parts down so far. Thinking about adding pressure+mixup and matchups+neutral afterwards. I haven't added the notation yet, because I'll be doing it in the form of subtitles, and they can be a pain to move around if the timings change. These are just rough drafts, I still have a few combos and setups I forgot to add (like 2c 5c super, lol!). I'm aware that they're pretty long, the idea is to have an answer to most questions someone can have (ex: hey guys what do I do with 5c CH when I have my back to the wall). 1. combos : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoCLTItUeyM 2. setups : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agk5UuSUlr8 So any comments, advice etc. are appreciated. I'd like to know if there's too much text, it goes too fast, too slowly, etc. Also, if I forgot to give credit to someone, let me know. Thanks. Mu does have a pretty big vertical hitbox so I dunno (2c CH 5c doesn't whiff on low opponents). I mostly stick to that because I've dropped 2c 5c too many times, and the damage+meter difference isn't worth the risk, but that's probably just me. I get really nervous in tournaments, so I stick to the simple stuff.

You guys probably found out about this but don't think it was posted. On 214 guard crush with one stein, you only get 2 hits, so the proration isn't as bad. You can do 214d(2) 5c 6c SoD 6b midloop lowloop for 4.6k It's really stable once you figure out the timing, awesome find, man. I loved it so I recorded that here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FQ76-Eqn60 ps: it's unlisted atm, I just want your O.K. before I make it public, or I can delete it if you prefer.

I was thinking about going, but I don't think my financial situation is going to allow it. Really can't say for sure either way atm. -

click it. I dare you. but jf doesn't have glasses nor long hair. I do though, but I don't play rachel. Hm level5chan doesn't have long hair but he has glasses. This game of guess who is turning out to be a lot harder than I thought. -

but kirbster wasn't at otakuthon last summer, wasn't he like in vietnam at that time? The only other person I know who can play rachel and was at otakuthon last summer was level5-chan, I think, or maybe sam if he was there. but shoutouts to more people -
I don't think we're "great", but here's me vs our local lambda at last week's ranbats : http://www.twitch.tv/bibiquadium/b/311400873 we play our best of 3 at 1h50m and a casual match at 4h29m, should be enough to demonstrate what I'm talking about. I'm still far from fully understanding the matchup though, for example I realized that 2c is actually decent in this matchup as lambda's j.2d allows her to stay out of 6a range easily, so I'm trying to figure out when to use either of them, and our 236a isn't really a good idea at neural.

Well, you try to avoid just guessing and blindly rushing in (aka IAD forward). You slowly advance on her with stuff like dash-barrier and empty jump forward block. When you see something whiff you capitalize, especially 4D. If you're close you can guess a bit more, since the risk/reward is more in your favor. I also recommend approaching from the ground because Lambda can very easily punish air approaches. Forward jump into low airdash j.c is good for catching them off guard, but don't get predictable with it. What I do is place steins slowly one at a time, play it ultra safe, until I think they start guessing with the swords. Then you bait the whiff, then you go in. I also prefer ending my combos in 3c rather than SoD because lambda has really bad wakeup options, and my pressure consists mostly of stagger and frametraps until I move close enough to the corner to make the overhead worth it (having conditionned them to block low). tldr : you need to guess a bit but that doesn't justify doing IAD forward because you're tired of blocking.

I'm interested in going to ECT, anyone else? I know brice can't. We went last year, it's a 7h drive (not 10h like last year because of holidays+customs), cost is somewhere between 150-200$ total, and it's a great experience. I can't say yet when we'd leave or return, but we'd most likely leave Friday (hopefully morning but maybe evening), and return Sunday around 1AM (but hopefully Monday instead if it works out, so we can stick around for the finals). Anyways, if you're interested, start thinking about getting a passport asap. -
all your answers are in here : http://www.dustloop.com/wiki/index.php?title=Frame_Data_(Mu_BBCSE) what you want to look at is P2, basically, the lower it is, the worse it is for your combo. 6a : 91, 2c : 91, j.2c : 88. Therefore j.2c is worse for your combo.

I might go, depends on a few things, most critical one being getting a job for the summer. -
I punish midscreen backdashes with raw 6c, like a man. Sometimes I even get fatal, high risk high reward. Though I also just run up and do a late 2b, catching them airborne, and leading into a combo. I do 6a 2b (whiff) 2c 5c 6c habacan... If ever by bad luck the 2b hits I go into 2c j.c j.2c dash 2b 5c 6c or something like that. but then again that depends on how low you're thinking.

In case anyone is interested, we'll be at foonzo tomorrow from like 3pm to midnight or so, in theory. come get your dose of BB -
If you're doing (stuff) 6C SoD 6A 6B... it's pretty unstable. Better off doing (stuff) 6C SoD dash 6B, extremely stable on everyone. On characters that you need to delay between 6a and 6b, don't dash before doing 6a if you're already close enough to hit, it reduces the window for a successful 6b juggle (they'll tech between the hits). If you can't do 2a 2b 5c SoD 6a 6b... then I dunno what the problem could be.
-
I made this real basic one so far : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Vbb-RTnyUw Probably going to make more of these next week since it's my spring break :D Midscreen setup i use the most with 6C is ...5c 6c 5d SoD dash 6d 214d. If I can't 6C I'll usually ...SoD 5d 236a (then 6d 236d if they're still at a safe range).
-
hm thanks agi, makes sense. I was trying to stay in the air against valk because I have no idea how to block that mixup, but if it just puts me in a more disadvantageous neutral it's not worth it. A common and practical use of 236A is when you're setting up full screen, and you're not sure if you have enough time to use 236D before they reach you. So you use 236a/j.236a because it's faster, and if they block it, you send out 236d. Another common use is when applying corner pressure, you just use it to keep them there. It's a good zoning tool because it covers a lot of space. Use 623C during gaps in your opponent's blockstrings and stagger pressure. It's also really good when you're in the air and people are attacking you from below. For ragna, you need to make space between you with a lot of dashing/5c/jump back j.c, and only after that start zoning him with steins and other projectiles. When you've got him scared, go in with projectile backup only if possible. Taokaka is pretty hard to deal with, stay mobile, don't attack her until you get a knockdown, use normals, hitconfirm your counterhits (mostly j.c and 6a). Once you get a knockdown, tao has no metereless reversal so pressure pressure pressure. Don't be afraid to use 623D against them if they're just blindly rushing in to make them afraid, but don't abuse it. Anyways, that's how I play those matchups.

I'll be there tonight a bit after 9PM. Don't have my stick though. I should be there Thursday early. kirbster: when is your march break? -
I pronounce like this : http://www.forvo.com/word/mu/#fr

This is from a tournament a month ago. Advice is appreciated vs Leo7's valk : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wN1SBEs0Q_w (nerves + slight delay on station made me drop stuff started netplaying to adapt to it better before the match I was confident. then it started and I remembered they nerfed 2c. I realized I had no idea how to play the matchup now.) in teams vs Kirbster's rachel : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3vlgNcYXQ8#t=14m44s (oh right, my team got sent to losers because I missed like 5 DPs in my match, so I figured fuck that shit for the rest of the tournament)
