I must've explained it badly then. I was doing dash buffer > DP instead of just straight DP. The dash buffer delayed the DP long enough for it to come out after Hotaru's invincibility went away. Sorry for leaving so quickly, my boyfriend always complains when I play games for too long

yeah you're a bit late on it lol. 5AA > air turn jD is a very good reset after things like comboing a crouching opponent with 5C > A Bufu > IAD jB > jC. Since they've already been frozen not much can be done after it anyway. if you land FC throw then don't waste 50 meter for a jD reset, at least not immediately since you can do Garu loops. Also I learned a meterless midscreen hitconfirm from The Liz God - dash 5B (VERY few hits) > 5C > A Bufu > dash buffer IAD jB > jC etc. Hitting with just the right number of 5B hits at the right height is very difficult but the payoff is enormous.

Someone please double check me to make sure I'm not crazy. I think I found a situation that causes the game to briefly lag 100% of the time. On xbox, I'm doing a corner blockstring into 5C > 2OMC > instant air turn dash jA and it looks like the game lags every single time just before the air turn dash. It's throwing off my timing.

Two things Wes: 1) When you make posts that are a billion years long, it detracts from the quality of the content. 2) Your experience with Persona is colored by the fact that you play a bad character and regularly pit her against her horrible match-ups or don't adapt correctly to other match-ups because you never cared enough about the game to. I completely agree with this. It's either 6 - 4 or 7 - 3, hairsplitting doesn't prove a point since no one can win half of a match. Also: a 7-3 in one game is more or less equivalent to a 7-3 in another. Having more system mechanics just means that the advantageous character has more of a gross advantage going for them to even out the difference. "feeling harder" is entirely subjective.

I'm not so sure Liz belongs in the bottom tier anymore. The problem with Kanji and Labrys is that on top of being bad characters in the first place, they're also simple characters so they couldn't develop any new strats. Players have to rely on pure fundamentals. Liz has poor tools but there's been some ridiculous discoveries with her over time that make her significantly more reliable and tricky. I'm hoping that I'm good enough to show it at Winter Brawl.

we talked a bit about tiers during our road trip and I'm starting to believe that Labrys is the worst character in the game because her defense is just too bad and her offense is too simple to make up for it. I used to think Liz was terrible, but now I think she's easily competitive once I have a counterpick for Mitsuru ROFL.

seriously if you think Mitsuru has no options once she's cornered, you should try EX Coup Droit some time. It even beats Thanotos' 2C because the hitbox goes through the super armor and hits Liz.

This isn't about growing as a player or not... this is about addressing reality. Bad match-ups exist and they certainly exist in Persona too. Mitsuru's 5A and jA outrange and outspeed all of Liz's normals. Liz can't commit to anything after 5C because EX Coup Droit literally beats everything. Liz's 2B clashes with Mitsuru's jB so she can't stop jump-in's. Elizabeth can do nothing to stop Mitsuru's pressure except for Mind Charge > Coffin which doesn't exactly happen every match. Mitsuru's toolset is so well equipped for shutting down Liz that my mind is completely blown that anyone could think it's better than 7-3. Like. wat. Chie's 5A is god tier against labrys. Even if she guesses wrong on her oki, she still gets to spam dash 5A pressure and Labrys can literally do nothing to stop it. Elizabeth has the same problem but her DP is a bit harder to react to and she has good tools to keep Chie out. Labrys is just screwed. Also Liz can backdash out of Chie's oki in certain situations :3

LOL yeah, Kenja has a good point. The smash community is gigantic compared to SG/Dustloop/etc, leaving it up to donations always meant that either FiM or Smash would win. I went to Evo last year to play BB and that's not gonna change this year, no matter what.

well yeah, they say it every year because it happens every year lol. I now default to the idea that the next version won't be out in time with Arc Sys games, in which cause I legitimately prefer GGAC over BBEX.

I will donate to GG and not BB because I want BBCP to be the Evo game and that just doesn't look feasible anymore. Even if +R isn't out by then, I would much rather see Accent Core than Extend.
