Grey Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 How should I play against Tager? Ive just seen this post, but its too long and I dont find the information correctly >.< Kind of late but... Strategy 1: Pick Litchi, Arakune or Mu Strategy 2: Here's how I go about the match up. Poke with 5B to discourage Sledge, although you have to do this fairly conservatively as even 5B is easily beaten, then you can stick out a 5C every now and then. It seems everything Noel does can be 720'd so you're gonna have to mix up your block strings and don't go for stuff like 5B > 2C as iirc that frame trap gets owned by 720 and does very little damage even with > RC > 6A > ... follow up. Also, if he randomly Sledges you can 5D through it on reaction for decent damage, but obviously even the worst Tagers will stop random Sledges after getting owned a few times. Then after that it's just do typical Noel risky stuff and hope for the best. But most of the time you just have to yomi the Tager to do decent damage e.g. yomi 2D his grabs
Sahgren Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 (edited) http://www.youtube.com/user/HopeEstheimXIII?feature=mhum#p/a/u/0/-IqBWQNg1BQ Can someone or anyone gimme some tips, i'm still new to noel so anything will be useful. Things I can tell off of a quick watch: 1) Get used to using 5B and 5C to poke and punish unsafe moves. Both CH 5B and CH 5C lead into 3C, which nets a decent combo for 3k+ damage. 2) Learn to judge how far away you are from the corner. The SR > 66C link is braindead easy when you're in the corner and don't need to dash, so try switching to that when you think you're close enough. Simple combos are: 3C > 22BC > 66C > 5D > d.2D > SR > 66C > j.D > d.6D > d.6B > d.5B > d.5C > BT for 4.4k and good heat gain, and 5D/2D > d.6A > d.6C > d.6D > d.2D > SR > 66C > j.D > d.5D > d.6B > d.5B > d.5C > BT for 3.8k(?). You can omit the d.6A if you can hitconfirm a CH 5D/2D, increasing the damage to ~4.4k 3) Not from that video specifically, but please remember that all of Noels drive moves have same move proration, and that even the D are separated into starters and follow up for the proration system. So 5D has same move proration with 5D, but d.5D counts as something entirely different. That means that 5D > d.6A > d.6C > 214A > 2B > 6C > 5D > etc. won't work because of same move proration. Instead follow up the 6C with j.D > d.6D > etc. so you'll be able to complete the combo. 4) Optic Barrel is useful for zoning purposes, but it's neutral on block with a 30 frame start up. Don't get predictable when you throw it out, especially at close range, since you're running the risk of having more skilled players poke you out of it without putting yourself in a situation to gain very much if it lands. Jae The One Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 sup guys pretty new here. i never really got into bb before but i would like to start learning. i originally wanted to play litchi but she's a bit to difficult for me to play. i never play many anime guys. my first was ah3. so i decided to go with noel instead. i hear she's not that great but in cs2 she's great so i figure i might be better off in the long run. i just need to know how to start off. also not many players so anyone willing to play would be cool. i have the game for 360 and i see most people play on ps3 so any 360 ppl around?

"Where do I start" is a very vague and open question, but I do understand how important the answer is, since I myself am wanting to learn a new character. You however, are better off posting in the NVG thread, its a place to get to know the Noel community, and overall will get you more comfortable with Dustloop in general, we also are willing to share any insights we have about the character, if you play someone who has a mic, normally they are more than willing to give out first hand advice. But to answer your original question, start by getting comfortable with the controls and how Noel moves, then learn combos, if you don't know combos in BB you just can't win.

Welcome to Blazblue and the Noel boards! Since your interested in Noel, I suggest going into her tutorial and challenge modes to understand how her game works by looking at how the demonstration does her combos. In CS1, she is a character that relies heavily on understanding what your opponent is doing, and reading, reacting, and punishing. For starters, you'll be up close to your opponent a lot, so learn how you want to attack by experimenting with her regular attacks. Chain Revolver, her drive attacks, all have different invulnerable frames and areas. Also, her drive attacks put you into a special state that have another set of moves that otherwise aren't accessible from normal stance, but in exchange you can't block. Her combos will all lead into this state, and you will finish combos with one of the drive finishers. We have a fair amount of player for both systems, so you'll be good to go on that. Just check the directory thread for the other players' XBL tags. Edited March 7, 2011 by SkyKing

Welcome to the Noel Vermillion boards mate. Glad to see there are some people willing to learn the character knowing that she isn't too good at the moment to say the least. Everything I was going to explain was pretty much covered by Sky so I'm just going to give a few pointers, warnings and whatnots. So yeah, first of all, learn how she moves. This is a must for any character really as almost all of them have their own mobility. For instance, Taokaka and Bang both have two airdashes, whereas Tager doesn't. Next, learn your combos. I know you tried Litchi, not the best choice for a beginner, I'll give you that. However, Noel is definitely NOT the character with the easiest learning curve. You'll probably need to spend some hours to understand how she works, and even more time learning how to use her (not so good) normals. Your first few hours of netplay will without a doubt be very depressing, especially if you play against Tager. DON'T GIVE UP, we all know that matchup is depressing, but winning against all odds makes you feel like you just had sex with Megan Fox. Well then, good luck.
Jae The One Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 thanks everyone. i know it was a vague question but there were a few things i needed to know which are now answered. beginner friendly isn't so much the issue but playing litchi may have been overdoing it. in fact i feel like if the character is too easy to play i might get bored. Just give me sometime and i'll get used to everything. I'll only be playing Noel even after i do just so i can focus on one character and her match-ups.
seven215 Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Ok.. So I am a beginner Noel player. I've been trying the 3C, 22C, 66, 6C part of a combo. And I can't for the world of me get the dash 6C to land. Hell.. I can't even get the dash to come out. What am I doing wrong? When do I start imputing the dash ? When do I hit the 6C? This is supposed to be a bnb combo. Are all her combos this difficult? I play ragna and makoto also.. None of their medium difficulty combos even come close to the strict timing for Noel . What gives?
7r17r1 Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Input the dash, if it doesn't come out its because you are doing it to early... Then stay on the forward direction, and hit C when you are close to your opponnent Train against Bang or Rachel, it's rather easy to land this combo on them so basically, stay on the forward direction of your stick => 3C 22C 66C, and not 3C 22C 66 6C Btw, Noel's drive combo in the corner are really easy, but mid screen combo can become really hard against some character But she isn't really harder than the others... even if the BnB is a bit tricky
Sahgren Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 It's worth noting that Bang and Rachel have awkward falling hitboxes which force you to get used to catching the opponent as low as possible in order to follow up with 5D. Generally you want that anyways for making her BnBs work consistently, but it might not be the best when just getting used to 22C > 66C. If you want to just get used to getting the dash to come out then hitting 66C, try it on Tager first, since his giant hitbox is amazingly forgiving in that regard.
seven215 Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 Thanks for the quick replies and for the tips.. I will try out tomorrow . hopefully it goes better than the last few days.
seven215 Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 I got it turns out I was dashing too soon. Now I have another issue with the rest of the combo. But ima try and figure it out first before I ask for help
W.E.M.P. Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 On noels guide fr CS what does d. infront of an input mean??? like for instance "5A, 6A, 6C, J. D, 6D, d. 5C, d. 6B, 236D. " Sorry for such a dumb question.

Runis Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 It refers to any move during Noel's Drive. ie d.6B is 6B during Chain Revolver edit: gawd damn it. I opened the page and didn't get back to it till late - Luna beat me to it.

W.E.M.P. Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Thanks guys for the reply! I really love Noel despite her being terrible ( is she better in CSII? ) . I just got my first arcade stick ( picked up the TE limited blazblue, I love it !) but my brain is having trouble remembering combos when in real matches. Is that something that'll go away with time? I also drop combos all the time, or like not timing sj right to continue combos, just want to make sure this is normal when you are starting, and that you just have to stick with it and it'll work itself out so long as I practice. Would you suggest me using XBL, or just play the cpu/friends at home. I want to get better so I can *someday* go to tourneys, but my friends are just casual and more or less button mash, lol.

Everything you are experiencing is perfectly normal. Online is a good way to gain basics and all of that kind of thing, but be sure to post in your regional thread to see if there is a serious scene near you, because offline play will always be better than online play, assuming your offline opponents know what they are doing.

It's always like that when you first start off. Especially if you are just learning with stick, too. So I commend you for doing both at the same time. Just get it into your muscle memory by doing reps each day or so in practice mode. Then, it'd be better to just find people around you to play. If they aren't that good or aren't the level you want to play at, then look online and find some of the regulars here on DustLoop for matchup experience.
SkyKing Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Thanks guys, You are all so nice :'D No problem! Always happy to help. And I noticed you are in Houston? Hit up the arcade their for some CS2 experience. It'll be a wondrous one, which is more than I can say for her ventures in CS1. ;___; Anyway, keep with the practicing. You just need to get down the feeling of not even thinking about the stick, as it will be second nature to you.
