Myoro Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 @necro It all depends on whether you have Ignis gauge or not, If you do, by all means dash in. If you don't have Ignis meter then you still might want to dash in if you think the opponent can be easily pressured or you can get past their defensive options and do a 236->RC combo to restore Ignis and put your opponent in the corner. However, if you think you are better off recovering Ignis gauge from afar then do the extra jump->j.b. I personally go for the extra jump-j.b against Makoto and Tager, because at a distance I feel relatively safe sitting 30 feet away waitin' for my kill juice to return. Tager takes a lifetime to make up that distance and can't wake-up command grab you from half a screen away, also from that distance his sparkbolt can be leis'd on reaction. Makoto, from that distance, has to cross your mid-range reach again, which is a pain for her every time. That said j.214b->AD should be what you go for most times.
NecroTheReaper Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I know I posted this in the combo thread, but 6C into UB setup in the corner feels on the Carl lvl of safe resets. The gap seems like it forces a DP at the least, which at the very least can be blocked, dunno if you could safejump into Ley for RYO grade trolling, plus j.B/236D UB setup still has good enough proration to go into almost every combo path, so if you're low on ignis, the tkj.236C combo does work. If thry refuse to tech the combo, I think you can still get oki by just going into 3C since 236D grounds on hit now. I'm probably a bit too excited over it and there's obvious things it loses to, so if I missed em, please tell me xD
Boodendorf Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 ok, so over this week be it today, saturday or any time in my spare time, i'm going to add a little more flesh to the matchup threads. things l am certain work as well as any tested/known info in the threads will begin finding their way to the OP. i'm especially looking for certain things when it comes to the matchups: *round start flowcharts *dp's for each character and ways to beat and bait them, if applicable *the foe's options as you wake up of course whatever can be posted on the matchup is acceptable, but these 3 change the most between characters and are very important. for some of the older character l may be able to help with, like litchi, ragna, hazama, etc. there would need to be more specific specialists for the new characters, though. as said, any good info is greatly appreciated. I can help with Terumi, a friend of mine has a sick one and we've been playing often. I've been playing against a lot of Nu as well during EX, the french scene is FULL of em lol.
LunaKage Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Is there a Relius who posts here that went to youmacon? he was pretty good, so I'm hoping he posts here.
WakeUpDP Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) I know I posted this in the combo thread, but 6C into UB setup in the corner feels on the Carl lvl of safe resets. I made a quick recording of it for fun and shows that emergency tech is the best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IV7BJXvya1E Would lose still to Mu DP, yukikaze and other stuff. Safe from counter supers. Edited November 8, 2013 by WakeUpDP
NecroTheReaper Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Yeah, but what I thought was funny is that vs Hakumen, his hitbox is large enough that his counter super activates on ignis and not on j.B, so you can still jump/236A though it. Terumi's beats it as does Yukikaze, but, its still a nice setup.
WakeUpDP Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Actually it works with j.C too, it doesn't trigger counter supers(terumi would get take the hit of 236D). Corrected last post.
NecroTheReaper Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I honestly don't see many people noticing this coming, since I feel that they either wait till 4D or 3C to choose how to tech, and if we end the combo at 6C, either we get a bluebeat into oki anyway, or we get an UB reset.
TD Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Once again, thank you to everyone who is contributing. I'll attempt a link list to good posts in the OP's, anyone offering a good deal of info or anything that works that wasn't known before.
NecroTheReaper Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 We heart you too TD, now teach me how to be a better Relius dammit >:/ xD
WakeUpDP Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 We heart you too TD, now teach me how to be a better Relius dammit >:/ xD Well you started the critique thread, put up some matches!
NecroTheReaper Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Indeed I did... note though, mine will be meh quality since I don't have a capture card xD;
Myoro Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Can we get a v.s. Kokonoe match-up thread up, alledgedly we're getting bodied, blitzed, unblock-ably resetted, and then killed. Please help (I'm scared:sweatdrop:) Exactly what can Relius hope to do in this match-up to win? I do have some useful stuff though. I think, based on footage cuz my order hasn't arrived yet, J.8D will devour her kokoball, making her subsequent rush in, other tactics somewhat less safe, it can also cover your entry via air dash when a kokoball is in play. Anyone care to test stuff out?
LordSpectreX Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Meh. From what I've played, I see no reason as to why Relius would have a harder time in this matchup than pretty much any other character. 214C and 214B keep her very honest. Remember that her fireballs disappear on block.
Myoro Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 But... she's been out one day and people have already got unblockable setups, 5700 meterless in the corner + oki/chip setup, and that accursed black hole move... The fireball disappearing on block is good to know, as well as the fact that most of her normals are slow, despite her high speed. I don't know what it is, but having watched Kokonoe, something about Relius' match-up in particular unsettles me...
Lich Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 None of Kokonoes normals are slow except the ones with gigantic hit-boxes. Although I think Relius will have a little more luck than most of the cast quite honestly. Too early though, we'll have to see.
Boodendorf Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 So real question here, the character subforums have titles right under the names of the char, except for Relius, Azrael, Amane and Bullet. Kokonoe immediately got one tho. can't we just have "father of the year every years" ?
Justice7541 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 What if Kagura was your dad Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
TD Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Right, Kokonoe needs a thread now that she's out. It will be up shortly.
Myoro Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 #1 Dad This one Right, Kokonoe needs a thread now that she's out. It will be up shortly. Thanks! you're the best!
Boodendorf Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 What if Kagura was your dad Then you'd have a ton of mothers.
Justice7541 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Makoto would be one of them Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
NecroTheReaper Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Its funny that I'm actually excited to be getting off topic xD anyone else love the intro between Koko and Rel?
NecroTheReaper Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Sorry for double post (not a lot of discussion anyway), is j.B or j.C bettet for the 6C>UB based on safety? Or are they both the same? And can/should 2D be used if the opponent is tryin to close in amd start pressure? I always tend to avoid 2D because of its high cost.
