BLOOD-B3RRY Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 im getting more hype for this game every day
xAKUM3TSUx Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Aside from color, not mirroring sprites would be a pain for a number of reasons on a 2D plane. If I'm not mistaken wouldn't that mean they would have to double the animations for a front and back poses and moves? If so, I see exactly what you mean...it's like saying "GG team...do your job. Now do your job but backwards this time." It can be done but implementing it for 20+ characters is like "Instant Kill". That's just my 2 cents with the side of a small grain of salt. Just a guess...
Agni Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Yeah I'm trying to wrap my head around a post move RC could benefit your character. But with the added benefit of sloooooooooooooow-motion, anything is possible. I just haven't thought of it yet. I have a feeling Purple is more of a "You dun goofed" color, to show that you screwed up, instead of being something you actually WANT to do.
Kamano Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 I have a feeling Purple is more of a "You dun goofed" color, to show that you screwed up, instead of being something you actually WANT to do. Yeah this is my best guess at this point unless it has a hidden or not yet implemented extra feature we don't know about yet.
Jotamide Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 im getting more hype for this game every day Tell me about it...jesus, it looks SO GOOD.
Chipp12 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 I think I've seen everyone's everything (haven't seen Millia's/Potemkin's intros and Sol's new special in DI mode though) in these vids already but only 1 overdrive and some specials for Chipp...
Manta Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 If I'm not mistaken wouldn't that mean they would have to double the animations for a front and back poses and moves? That's just my 2 cents with the side of a small grain of salt. Just a guess... They wouldn't have to double anything. Transposing a character model in 3D is really easy to do, and they can use the existing animations and just reflect along the model's XZ axis before the final render on screen.
Jocelot Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 I have a feeling Purple is more of a "You dun goofed" color, to show that you screwed up, instead of being something you actually WANT to do. Ahh, that could work. It's Elite Beat Agents on the DS, You hit the beats in tune with the music and score 300, 100 or 50. I guess a purple RC is like scoring 50.
SolxBaiken Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 If I'm not mistaken wouldn't that mean they would have to double the animations for a front and back poses and moves? It's more than that [especially with using 3D models that itself being less of a burden] it's the simple fact you're on a 2D plane, where everything is thought of in a linear fashion as opposed to a 3D plane where you now have to concern yourself with moves going in lateral directions. Like if a character has a back hand with their left hand; in 2D this doesn't matter, it only hits in front, but in 3D maybe it only covers a 180 degree radius, so now [depending on the side the character is] the covered arc varies. "But wait, that still shouldn't be a problem" well it can be especially for a heavily weapon based fighter like this, depending on how the character is facing you could obscure attacks since they're seen from another perspective. Mirroring works out for devs and consumers in the long run. I have a feeling Purple is more of a "You dun goofed" color, to show that you screwed up, instead of being something you actually WANT to do. There definitely are benefits to doing an RC late; if I have a move that has high combo potential on its own but is high unsafe, I can RCP(urple) to prevent any sort of punish at the last very second, which in itself creates a mind game. Can I punish the incoming punish? Will the opponent see that coming and make me whiff another move unsafely? Will the opponent just stand there expecting me to think of this, so maybe I can run up and throw? etc, etc. Also if "goofing" was the point, I don't think they'd give you the time slow at all [despite it being much short than RCR(ed)] which is still essentially a "get out free" card.
fiendmaw Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Also if "goofing" was the point, I don't think they'd give you the time slow at all [despite it being much short than RCR(ed)] which is still essentially a "get out free" card. The small slowdown on PRC is to account for the new RC animations.
SBRJCT Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 (edited) Has anyone else noticed that Sol's dust wall splats in the corner? Edited August 11, 2013 by SBRJCT
Blade Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 ^That's not Wallstick. Wallstick lasts longer. Also, does anyone know more about Ky's Grinders? Do they even HAVE a hitbox at all? If so does it disappear if Ky is hit or some other thing? This Grinder system seems like it'll replace Stun Raise Forcebreak. I just hope they don't get rid of Air CSE (j.236+D) from Ky's Slash/AC moveset.
SBRJCT Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Do you have another example of wall splat in Xrd to compare to? That one lasted long enough for a combo.
Blade Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 May has Overhead Kiss a few times in her vids, there's your wallsplat.
Most Unknown Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 I was actually watching the other arcade cabinets in some of the vids and I did witness how the RC looks...that slow down doesn't even last that long, but I can see how it can be strategic...I just hope to see some real shit by the end of this loc test...I know its a test and all but all the vids showed people who was playing looking like they never played Guilty Gear before...Hopefully we can see some vids with a little juice in them...Appreciate the footage...
BladeOfJustice7 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 I just hope they don't get rid of Air CSE (j.236+D) from Ky's Slash/AC moveset. They also removed that, you can look at his moveset and realize it's gone. Any new moves Ky got post #Reloaded is gone. He's more akin his #R version with this Grinder buff that he received.

A lot of people on the cabs are going to be using matches to test things and see what does and doesn't work. The players might agree ahead of time to give P1 a round to try stuff, P2 a round to try stuff, and use the third round to actually play, for example.
Dreiko Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 One thing I noticed from watching vids is that they changed the waggling of stick to recover from stagger into a mashing of buttons instead. I'm happy about the change. I half feared they'd just scrap that system entirely but this is a good medium I think.
AyyKayAyy Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 I'm a little sad that they went back to Reload Millia, I never like that version as much as the AC version. However, I do like the +R version since it's a mix of both R and AC. I really hope Xrd Millia is similar to +R, or maybe create a style that is beyond R and AC.
Sym_ Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 They took away Millia's air dash cancels... =( I hope they create another RC that makes your character faster.
HeatEXTEND Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 It's prob just the quality of the vids but the characters seem to be sometimes 3d, sometimes hd sprites lol

Agreed, #R Millia just seems really dry compared to AC and AC+R Millia. I hope that she'll at least get airdash cancels again in the final version..
destruction_adv Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Wait what, they removed ADC? ... Yep, looks like it.
Ben Reed Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Does any of the footage currently available show the animation for Heavenly Potemkin Buster connecting? That's the last big thing I want to try and see before the ArcCops come. :P
