redsilversnake Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Concerning the low roster, I already mentioned this in the BBCP thread, but you've also got to take into account that they didn't have many people actually working on the models to begin with (three modelers and three animators, according to the credits), to the extent that they put up job listings on the site. As for new characters, Sin and Ramlethal will of course get added, along with the older cast members, while the Senate will remain story-only NPCs.
excelence Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 13 playable Character isn't exactly a low rooster count since this is also the 1st time they use the character model (BB only have 12, 10 playable and 2 locked boss) ... the only reason i think it have a low roster count is since my main isn't there, if i main someone already in the roster, i'd probably won't whine much lol
D.R.F. Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Its not even whining, I just like all the characters too much to not dream about them in this beautiful game. Nothing wrong with speculation:D Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
Casper Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 you guys think +R is gonna die now that Xrd has dropped? i really hope not i like that game and i think it fills a slightly different niche than Xrd.
KBnova Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 you guys think +R is gonna die now that Xrd has dropped? i really hope not i like that game and i think it fills a slightly different niche than Xrd. Play both
youcanwonder Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Def won't die...xrd might be gg...but it's a different version...I'm w kb nova play em both
Starlight777 Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 As long as people have the desire to play the part of the roster that didn't make it to Xrd, it won't die.
White Man Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 The community for AC+R might diminish slightly, at least temporarily, but I don't see it dissolving anytime in the foreseeable future. A good game won't stop being a good game just because it gets a sequel on newer hardware. Just look at all the people who still play Third Strike years after the release of SF4, even now that there's a lot of overlap in the rosters.

People will also continue to play +r because of the things that were taken out of xrd, like frcs, slashbacks, force breaks, etc. Some people might not like xrd's look (can't see why) and stick to the sprites Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
mof0nzo Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 i really hope they re-add at least FRCs and slashbacks with the necessary adjustments to make them work in this game. i don't see the need for their absence. more depth, richer playing and spectating experience.

They are both in the game in easier format. I think +R will mostly die out, though not go completely away, just like all previous versions of games always do. I still play #R and Slash with friends from time to time, but I accepted that AC and now +R were what new people were playing. I think it will likely be the same here. The difference between #R/Slash and AC is just as much as Xrd (maybe more). tl;dr: If you and your friends enjoy another version, you can still play it with you and your friends.
SoWL Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 while the Senate will remain story-only NPCs. I'm not too sure about that, since one of them was already shown to be capable of fighting. They might not be too high on their list of priorities, but I see no reason to leave out the new major antagonists.
ElvenShadow Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I will be running both Xrd and +R tournaments at Frosty Faustings VII. I like both games! More GG is not a bad thing!
HoudiniJr100 Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I will be running both Xrd and +R tournaments at Frosty Faustings VII. I like both games! More GG is not a bad thing! So looking forward to the day I eventually go to one and subsequently get slayed. (Ironic because I use slayer lol)

Jocelot Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I get slayed by Slayer (and everyone, really) at my local's weekly get together, so I'm used to it, lol. I came to the sad realization that even if Anji (the character who has been my main dude for years) was in Xrd, my chances of success wouldn't go up by that much, lol. Still, it's fun to imagine YRC butterfly...
DaiAndOh Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I may learn a different character in +R after Xrd. I don't think I can play Venom in 2 games x_x
Dreiko Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Those Bad Moon loops with the rose install seemed really interesting.
mof0nzo Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 They are both in the game in easier format. not sure about the frame window for blitz shield, but it costs 25% meter iirc. slashback's a straight up parry that's risky and costs minimal meter (i think the same as FD?). which is awesome. there is no roman cancel in Xrd that you can use while the opponent is in block or hitstun that costs only 25% meter, and there really should be.
Ronove Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 there is no roman cancel in Xrd that you can use while the opponent is in block or hitstun that costs only 25% meter, and there really should be. That way regular 50% red RCs would become useless.
reaVer Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 That way regular 50% red RCs would become useless. Take a step back, take a breath and think about the context again.
mof0nzo Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Ronove, you played ACR right? FRCs have a small move-dependent activation window and are only available with certain moves. otherwise, solid troll.
Ronove Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 (edited) Guys, I am not talking about ACR. I am talking about Xrd. Look at the way they've implemented the current system: if they were to add ACR's FRCs the chances that regular red RCs would be used would drop A LOT. If you want old FRCs you would have to ditch the current system. The way they've designed Xrd is to have players give more thought on whether they want to spend 25% right away for YRC or save it for RCs. In ACR there were a lot of FRCs and FBs that were just far too more convenient than just saving up meter for 50% RCs. I can't remember when's the last time I saw a Millia using a red RC in ACR rather than always using 25% for Iron Saviour FRC or FB Disc. On the other hand in Xrd I'm seeing Millias either using 25% for Disc YRC or saving up meter for 5S 5H RC hitconfirms, or even Rose install. That's what IMHO is depth, because there's not one single best way to spend that meter, but you have different good ways depending on how you want to play the matchup. It's a different take that's not necessarily substracting depth. On the opposite, I think it's adding even more given that you can YRC almost anything. If we really want to complain about an aspect of the system, is that we have yet to see purple RCs being meaningfully used. Edited March 7, 2014 by Ronove
Final Ultima Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Considering the increased Tension Gain rate and slow motion on Roman Cancels, I don't think we really need an option as good as FRCs back in the game. They'd just be even more dominant than they were before. Roman Cancel itself is already putting in a lot of work in Guilty Gear Xrd and I think the new system is interesting. Also, Ronove was not trolling. Cut that out.
SuperJ Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 to be fair i think red RCs would definitely be used to convert off glancing hits (e.g. max range faust f.S rRC, run up pogo?) or random confirms in general (e.g. when are slayers going to confirm non-CH it's late into RC?). and then there's situations where you simply need to RC to continue (e.g. may 6K). these functions are not replaced by FRC on the other hand, and this is for the XX vets: do you ever regularly spend 25% on a bnb in +R that DOESN'T get a hard knockdown? i'm serious. like literally the only example i can think of is JI killer joker FRC, and that's assuming you can't be bothered to learn enkasu setups.
